La Fonda del SolGreat locationGiven that a lot of people commute to NYC for work, going to La Fonda Del Sol for dinner after work is very convenient because it is pretty much inside Grand Central. Also, it helps that the food is delicious. I had the churrasco w/ chimichurri and it was on point. The only thing is that it does not have an expansive menu, so that is something to keep in mind.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent FoodWe dined at La Fonda for lunch and decided to go with the prix fixe menu. The selections we had - appetizer, entree and dessert - were all wonderful - fresh, flavorful food and all served promptly. My only wish was that our server, who was nice enough, hadn't made us feel bad for just ordering water and not ordering wine or the refrescos she was trying to convince us to get, which sounded good, but which we just weren't in the mood for.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMTwo ambiancesI like the restaurant is split into two areas, the hip side at the entrance while the more quiet and sophisticated behind the bar. The spanish/latin food was just right and different from the flavors to the presentation. The dessert was phenomenal - coconut flan - absolutely something not to miss.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGood ambienceNoise level very moderate and tables spaced wide apart. Food very good. You don't feel rushed.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good service and excellentVery good service and excellent food. Try the Iberico Jamon. In fact, try most of the Tapas menu. Will go back again.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb fish! Very comfortableSuperb fish! Very comfortable accomodations with tables spaced widely apart. Attentive service. Excellent bread. A wonderful find in the Grand Central area!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent andThe food was excellent and the service terrific. Very well suited for a business lunch or otherwise.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExtensive wine list, deliciousExtensive wine list, delicious tapas, especially the Fig Montadito. The dining room is elegant and quieter than the bar area, so it's like two restaurants in one. The service was attentive, and friendly.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSmall issue, but I was surprisedSmall issue, but I was surprised that when the entrees came out they didn't know who had what.
Also at dinner mid-week was a little noisier than I remember.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI've had lunch here quiteI've had lunch here quite often, both in the dining room and the less formal bar area. The food is very tasty and it's a good spot for a business lunch that's less "stock" than Centro and its ilk. Love the Padron peppers!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Fond of La Fonda del SolOur party of four enjoyed our dining experience immensely. Our waiter was very attentive and answered all our questions, which were many. The food was wonderful - portions were not large, but we all felt satisfied. Would reccomend combining appetizer and entree for the complete experience.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat midtown SpanishThe $35 prix fixe menu is an excellent deal. The food is fantastic, cocktails were good. Ambiance in dining room is much quieter than the bar area, menu is also different with the bar area being more of a casual tapas menu. Excellent quality seafood. The octopus was tender and delicious and the yellowtail ceviche was delicious.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways good service and veryAlways good service and very convenient to Grand Central Station3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMNot to impressedThe tapas were ok tasting nothing impressive. Would recommend this restaurant more as a Bar experience.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI often entertain here asI often entertain here as the location is easily accessible, the sound not over the top, and the variety and depth of the menu has something for everyone. The food is always good, not so over-the-top as to distract from conversation.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
