La Folie is a French restaurant located in Russian Hill of San Francisco. Chef Roland Passot, with his wife Jamie opened La Folie in March of 1988. "La Folie is an excellent French restaurant that offers a variety of flavors and is well-executed. It is a great place to do the foodie/food critic thing and also an great place to just enjoy food. Definitely better than Coi and Masa (other fine-dining restaurants in the SF area), although they do different styles. The website is a little misleading in the sense that the website appears to market the dishes as colorful when they aren't as colorful as on the website. The website also appears to show the interior as slightly dull, but once you enter, it is obviously a cozy fine-dining establishment."

"This was our second visit to La Folie in 6 months. Each of us had the five course tasting menu. Unfortunately the food was a bit lacking this time and not memorable at all. The truffle option on the risotto was inexpensive compared to pricing at a certain two-starred restaurant in Healdsburg. As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for," when it came to the quality of the truffle. The service was very good however, but it will be a long long time before we return."

"There is no way I can put this experience into words that would suffice.
Top grades in all areas of measurement. La Folie is what "dining" is all about."
