Try the trio de ceviche -- fresh,
fresh, fresh! Also, Pescado & enchiladas rojas (redfish) and the fresh fish pibil (snapper - thick!) were delicious -- fresh, not overwhelms w/ sauce or seasoning. Assistant Manager Ana was our server and knows the menu inside and out. Professional and informative service all the way around. Lovely, cheerful décor as well! Definitely will be back."

A true treasure in the Heights.
Lovely touch Of Cabo in Houston! The black bean soup is sublime, and the fish entrees are fresh & zippy. A must go for any foodie & bring friends from out of town. They will be dazzled."

Truly a delightful experience.
Breaded oysters were very well complimented by the sauce, which enhance, not overwhelmed, their freshness. The presentation on shells was appealing and inviting; not crowded. The crab croquets served with breaded asparagus and shallots, were delicately flavored allowing the natural taste to come through. I had the Flounder with a tasteful seasoning, reminiscent of a seaside Caribbean meal. The fish texture was perfectly cooked, and served with fresh vegetables. The dessert went harmoniously with a cup of Expresso and Cognac. Our compliments..."

The food is very good and the
service was attentive. The interior decor is more beachy chic. We both thought they'd get more business if they dressed the place up as the food was very good."

We like to eat at La Fisheria
because you can always get wonderful food served by the excellent staff. Thanks you."

Great service like always. I try
to get something new everytime and never been dissapointed."

Glad we tried it. Lot of buzz from
our friends. Tried it at lunch. Very quite. Too expensive for lunch on you own. Need a lunch menu"

Pleasant decor. Very
knowledgeable, attentive and friendly wait staff. We ordered the tuna tostada, trio de cerviches, and crab meat croquettes to share. The tuna was the best of the bunch. The trio was fresh and varied. One tasted like a bloody mary. The crab meat balls were good because anything fried is good but a little heavy with mayo. My hubby then had the black bean soup and enjoyed it. I had the mixed salad with grilled shrimp - loved the light dressing and perfectly grilled shrimp. The excellent cocktails are served in canning jars."

When I drove up to La fisheria the
valet person was incredibly rude. The parking situation in general at night in this area is horrible. La Fisheria had a tiny parking lot with rude valet. Many parking lots in the area mostly with towing signs. So parking is a nightmare and the valet made it worse. These are the reasons we will never return to la fisheria. If some how you can get past the parkig situation, the food is good and the service was very nice. It's a little expensive and the atmosphere is not for a date. Many families and the decor inside was cheap looking and the tables were uncomfortable. The only way I see enjoying La fisheria is for take out which would solve the parking situation or for lunch which may be cheaper."

Incredible service, ridiculously
good food. The collision of flavors was like nothing I've ever had. Highly recommended."

My lobster and shrimp flatbread
seams to have been missing the lobster..."
Dined on 1/10/2014
Disappointed by the reality vs
what I expected from other reviews and sources. Decor and ambience where poor and reminds me of a gas station side cafe vs a more trendy food spot. Menus were faded "dot matrix" style printed plain white sheets on a wooden clip board. No wine list and slow server service. Tuna tornados were a let down as they were shaved tuna on tostitos chips with a little salt/peper and a splash of vinaigrette. Ordered the Lobster risotto which is supposed to be their best dish. Unfortunately, the risotto was runny, slightly undercooked, and fairly bland. After two poor courses we opted to skip desert. Will not be returning."

David Cervantes is an excellent
manager. Food is good but i have to say that it is a little bit overpriced. $ 26 for a ceviche it is too much."
Dined on 1/4/2014
When I arrived at La Fisheria they
had no record of my reservation thru Open Table and did not seem to even know what Open Table was. That may have been just the maitre d (lady seating folks) but they had no clue. They did find a table for me (fortunately for me, it was fairly empty) and the experience turned out to be excellent but I couldn't help thinking that the evening with my friends would have been ruined if they hadn't not been so empty given the fact they refused to honor my Open Table reservation."
Dined on 11/8/2013
Good quality fresh fish served in
interior of Mexico style. Ceviche was also tasty with fish, but no discernable shrimp as the menu indicated. The entrees included finely chopped zuchini and a few cauliflower, but minimal vegetables. Fish entrees were about $30, which seemed a little pricey."

Great addition to the area.
Freshest fish around. Love the Mexican wines."

This is a great place to go with
friends or a nice evening with your lady. Our apps and meals were cooked to perfection and the service was awesome (ask for Ana). Timing was perfect and the selection was ample but not overwhelming. We will be returning for more!!!"

Awesome food , Excellent ambience,
Top quality Service all together in the same package one of the best restaurants in Houston right now!!!!"

Not a bad restaurant but nothing
outstanding. Menu needs to be expanded. The servers were charming and upbeat..no problem with that at all"
Dined on 9/1/2013
Other than the too-expensive
caipirinhas, the trio of ceviche, the special monkfish, and the lobster pizza were really good and all the servers were friendly and prompt. They even gave us a taste of some red wine they were considering offering and it was actually at the right temperature (60 degrees), not like most Houston restaurants that serve red wine too warm (yuck!). Also met the chef, who makes it a point to visit all the diners. Overall, an enjoyable night with great food."

We had a good meal at La Fisheria.
The place is small, and loud, reminiscent of a fishing village cafe in Yucatan Mexico. The lobster pizza was excellent. The pecasdo and enchiladas was also a unique combination."

La Fisheria is a must visit and
experience if you want to consider yourself a Houston Foodie expert!"
Dined on 9/8/2013
Staff not familiar with wine list.
Wines were over priced. Drink beer."

The waitstaff was very efficient,
help each other out to make things more efficient. The food was great. Loved the cevechii, clam chowder and special Mahi Mahi. Great first impression."
Dined on 9/7/2013
Hibiscus margarita was good! The
cheesy/buttery spread they serve with the bread was good too. The croqueta's and ceviche were delicious, but the mahi mahi &fried yuca in my entree was overcooked and dry. My other friends at my table also said their fish was overcooked. My friends had been here before, not for Houston Restaurant Weeks, and were raving about the food, especially the churros. The churros had a nice chocolate sauce that came with it, but the churros were very hard as if they were fried hours ago and left sitting out. The waiter was very hospitable, took them back, and allowed us to order another dessert.Tip: place reservations over the phone. When I called to confirm, they could not find my Open Table reservation."

This is my favorite fish
restaurant in the Houston area. A little bit more expensive than the average, but money well spent because of the high quality of food, the atmosphere and the service. A little bit smaller portions than the usual Texan restaurant, but still more than enough for the average person. The food is very nicely presented on special plates, and they have lots of great dishes with original combinations. We have been there several times and every time food and service was great! I absolutely recommend this restaurant for everyone who loves the finer dining."

We went or HRW o value was good
but overlooked underflavored expensive seafood ain't really my thing."
Dined on 8/20/2013

1st experience at La Fisheria and
loved it so much have already recommended it to friends. Margaritas are divine! Habanero sauce excellent! Restaurant week menu choices of tilapia, ceviche, tacos, wine - excellent! Had no idea that reservations seem like a must! Very accommodating even though we were 20 min late for our reservation time. Loved the colorful and hip decor. My husband and I don't usually go out a lot, but the fun atmosphere and fun time we had have convinced us that we need to do it more often. Great waiter too - love the hats they wear!"
Dined on 8/10/2013
Everything was ok but nothing
really drew me to come back."
Dined on 8/9/2013
Don't make reservations for more
than 4 people!!! The manager indicated there was an issue and they could not accept OpenTable reservations for more than 4 people despite the fact we received a confirmation. As a result, ended up with a very long wait. Not sure if manager is making up stories or if and Open Table issue but definitely frustrating. As for actual dining experience, food was good but not over the top - service was average at best. If you go, would highly recommend the shrimp and lobster pizza as was the best thing we tried that night."

I've been having oysters for years
but the oysters here were deffinetly overpriced. The menu here long, many options for one to decide; however, within two minutes of seating down the waiter comes up to take our order. We asked to have a minute and it took him 15 minutes to come back. We tried the fresh oysters that were on the menu, but the selection was awful. The oysters were from Galveston and didn't have exquisite sea flavor. They also put some seasoning on top of your oyster, which made it less appealing. The fish they sever is nicely cooked but the combination of their plate with the fish didn't go well together. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're willing to pay more for something to can get elsewhere at a cheaper price."

My husband and I heard about this
place from friends and we are so glad we tried it! Delicious fresh food and to die for jalapeño cucumber margaritas! Great service! Great date night! We will definitely go back!"
Dined on 7/27/2013
I really like La Fisheria proposal
of Mexican infused fish and seafood dishes in a very relaxed and vibrant setting which could remind you of a seaside joint. The menus is full with appealing dishes although i think the menu has couple of misses such as the lobster flatbread (who wants to eat lobster with Gouda cheese on a pizza bread?) Starters were very good, in particular the octopus. As for the entrees, they were generally good with the fish being well cooked however the sauces were a bit overpowering because they had too much capers and felt slightly heavy. Service was good although a bit rushed and over attentive some times. In summary, La Fisheria is a place with a lot of potential which needs to polish some of its defects."
Dined on 7/27/2013
The food is not bad at all, but
for the price I would expect much much better ! A very good surprise was the imported mexican wine which was great ! Beside that, I have to say that I found that the pulpo needed more salt, the lobster was overcooked therefore chewy, as well as the risotto which was a kind of purée."
Dined on 7/21/2013
There was only a few Mexican
dishes to choose from..... I could have went to taco bell to get better food."
Dined on 7/6/2013
A bit overpriced with too large
and rich a portions but unique in its own way!"
Dined on 7/6/2013
By far the most traditional
Mexican food we have tried in the US other than what she or some of our Mexican friends have cooked. We tried the tuna tostada, ceviche trio, snapper with enchiladas and adobado sauce, and coconut cake for dessert. All were fantastic! We will definitely be back to try some new dishes and cocktails. The place has a nice ambience and was not too busy for Saturday lunch. The service was a little off, we had to ask for silverware and napkins but only a slight issue. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The food is pricey for what you get but as long as mi esposa is happy, I am happy! If you want to ensure a table, make a reservation. The place is small."
Dined on 6/22/2013
This business does not actually
use Open Table and should be removed from thus service. It is very frustrating for the customer to think they made a reservation, get an email confirmation, then find out they have no reservation. Anyway, the service was on par with your neighborhood low end texmex or diner, maybe even less enthusiastic. The food was well-presented with fresh ingredients, but execution and flavors were a little underwhelming. Nothing really popped. I don't usually complain about price, but at their price point I really expect better service and food The highlights were the cocktails. The jalapeño cucumber margarita was excellent and the habanero margara was very tasty and spicy, if just a bit too sweet for my taste."
