Went there with my family for
lunch. It was very quiet inside. Only us and one other family. For our appetizer, we ordered the ceviche. It was really good and I would recommend it. My kids got the chicken taco off their kids menu. Each were served kids sized waters with a lid which was perfect for them. My husband ordered the enchiladas suizas and I ordered the chicken tamale. My dish was mediocre. I did enjoy the refried beans. My husband enchilada suizas on the other hand was absolutely delicious. Halfway through, we switched plates and I gobbled up everything else that he hadn't gotten to yet on the plate. I would definitely go back there again for that particular enchilada."

We made a return trip to La Fiesta
on our latest trip to San Diego. We didn't remember the name from the prior visit, but our hotel recommended them, and as soon as we saw it, we immediately realized it was the same place. We won't forget on the next trip! We dined at a high-top table outside on a Saturday evening, so the people watching was fun. The waiter advised us on one of our two entrees, and he really made an awesome suggestion (pork shank... although this is not the exact name). My carne asada was also excellent. We had guacamole as an appetizer, and delicious margaritas! The service was excellent. We will visit La Fiesta on a future trip for sure!"

Excellent steak fajitas - highly
recommend. Great margaritas. Decent menu - many great options."

We recently dined while visiting
San Diego. While the food was very good (both in taste, presentation, and quantity), our service was lackluster. The server seemed to be more interested in chatting with the bartender than attending to tables. When we needed change to feed the meter, no one was able to help us- including at the bar. My husband had to leave the restaurant and go to a store on the corner in the middle of our meal to get change. Even though the food was tasty, it is unlikely that we'd go back because of the service."

This is a good downtown location
with seating outside so I could see the action traveling up and down 5th. Lots of weirdos and a few ghetto lowriders bangin their subwoofers makes for a great scene. the food is good and it's a great place to eat before a Padre game."
Dined on 6/3/2014
We were walking down the street,
looking for a place to eat. We looked at the menu and decided to try it.......service and food was so good that we took a large group with us the next day for Brunch. "
Dined on 6/1/2014
Went for dinner, had a great time.
Only complaint was having to request water refills."
Dined on 5/24/2014
Happy hour apetizers and entrees,
mainly burritos, half price between 3-6pm i believe. Polite service!"
Dined on 5/19/2014
My molcajete was fair bur
EXTREMELY overpriced, as most tourist traps on 5th avenue. My wife's chicken fajitas had absolutely NO FLAVOR. Also, the men's restroom was dirty, like it hasn't been clean for days & smelled like urine. Wife also complanied that the women's restroom was sticky. You can tell a lot about a restaurant restrooms aren't clean. Will not recommend, nor return to this establishment."

La Fiesta used to be a MUST GO
restaurant whenever I visit San Diego. However, my experience the past two times was very disappointing (Dec, 2013 and April, 2014). In Dec, 2013, my favorite dish, molcajete cancun was too salty and the cheese on the black bean was stale, but I assumed it was just a chef error. so we visited last weekend (04/12), the chips were stale and my molcajete cancun was ok but the scallop was small, the worst is my son's Carnietas was burned to rock on half of his dish. We could not even poke into the meat. We showed them to the waiter and he just asked us about our Margarita to carry over the bad conversation. In a word, La Fiesta is out of my list of MUST Go into a list of " DO NOT GO" restaurants."

My wife and I went to La Fiesta
for dinner, instead of making something at home. Reservations were plentiful, and we were excited to try a new place. When we arrived, we were seated within a few minutes, but it was many, many minutes before anyone came by to check on us or take an order. We ordered two drinks from the drink menu, then the waiter disappeared. He returned awhile later (maybe 5 minutes) and said they didn't have one of the tequilas, so I said to just substitute whatever he thought was appropriate for that liquor. A long time passed. Eventually, our drinks arrived, and they were "okay". Nothing special, just okay...except they were completely the wrong drinks. We said it was okay, and drank them anyway."
Dined on 3/29/2014
They were great with kids up until
about 1030. Then they start to get crabby.... Food is excellent. Service is very good. There was a mistake on our bill, but they were quick to fix it."
Dined on 3/7/2014
We booked this restaurant for a
convention group of 20 friends, who meet once a year for dinner while at our annual convention. They had space for 20, seated together, were willing to write multiple checks, were willing to accommodate a large group at prime dinner hour on a weekend with no problem. The food was fine. Nothing to rave about, but tasty. Then drinks were the same. Beer was nice and cold. Service was great for our large group. We ended up with 2 extra people at the last minute and that was no problem. We were not in the room with the bar which made it quieter and easy to talk and hear each other. That was good."

What a great find! Food and
Service were amazing- will definitely be back next time we are in town!!"
Dined on 2/14/2014
Food was great, service was great.
Clean interior and ideal location."
Dined on 2/9/2014
Second time I have been here. Both
times, I just took the special of the day. Both times, happy with the choice. (I wonder how the regular menu items are?!?) Service was a little slow, but we had a group of a dozen."
Dined on 12/5/2013
There are only a few Mexican
themed restaurants in the Gaslamp and we have tried them all. None meet the quality or sophistication of the food served at La Fiesta. I have been there twice and each time our dinners have been fantastic. Start with the guacamole table side service. You won't be disappointed. As for entrees, it's hard to recommend just one. This time around two people in our party had the steak special that was off the charts good. I had the pork and it was fall off the bone delicious. The portion was so large that I couldn't possibly finish it. My only negative comment is be wary of the servers pushing tequila after dinner. They do a poor job of explaining the various costs of each and they run up you tab if your not careful."
Dined on 11/19/2013
We had a great time, food and
service were very good, friendly waiters with good sense of humour! Getting the bill took some time but that's not a big problem and we enjoyed not to be rushed out the restaurant."
Dined on 11/11/2013
Went here with a party of eight as
everything in Old Town was going to have a long wait on a Saturday night. Glad we found La Fiesta on Open Table. Service was spot on. We never felt rushed even as it took a while for us all to settle in. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks, and certainly a touch more sophisticated than we would have found in Old Town."
Dined on 11/2/2013
Looking for a great Mexican meal,
this is the place. The margaritas are great. Great happy hour prices. Service is excellent."
Dined on 10/17/2013
We have had a condo downtow for 5
years and had never eaten here. It was really good. I would get the taco flight next time beacuse the taco was the best thing in my combo plate. The tamale and or the chile relano seemed sweet. Overall, a really nice experience."
Dined on 10/5/2013
Thought Mexican food + San Diego
was a winner but did not consider area I.e. Touristy. Portions small which was fine with us. Do not get shrimp (fried) taco. Seemed frozen in the heavy breading. Nice sitting out front and people watching and our service ( from owner) was excellent."
Dined on 10/1/2013
First visit to La Fiesta. GREAT
service, GREAT food. Was there around 4:30pm on a Saturday so ahead of the dinner crowd. Noise level was high even though it was not yet very busy."
Dined on 9/28/2013
We made our reservation on Open
Table. When we arrived they never checked Open Table for their reservations. Luckily I had the confirmation with me and they had a table for us available. Once our waiter took our order, that was the last we saw of him after we got our drinks. He never came back to check on our water, ask if our dinner was ok, if we wanted another drink (which we did) or if we needed anything. We had to flag him down for our check. It was the worse service ever. The dinner really wasn't good either."
Dined on 8/17/2013
THE WAITERESS WAS VERY FRIENDLY
AND NICE. THE BEEF FAJITAS WAS EXCELLENT. THE BEST I HAD IN A LONG TIME."
Dined on 8/15/2013
Food was pleantiful but very
heavy, not as big a selection for a lighter meal. It was priced fairly."
Dined on 8/13/2013
Great service,excellent food,all
employees have great attitudes, makes you want to return because of the excellent atmosphere, our waiter Pablo must have been trained at Nordstroms, customer service skills beyond the best."
Dined on 8/10/2013
We enjoyed the ambience of dining
on the patio in the Gaslamp and the live mariachi music during our Sunday brunch. The food is good, basic Mexican food. Nothing exceptional. Our only complaint was that we had to ask for salsa and it took too long for the server to bring it. Since when does Mexican food not come with salsa? Also, they offer a $10 bottomless mimosa which was great, but we heard other diners complaining that they thought they had the bottomless mimosas only to find out they were getting them at $3 per glass. This should have been made clearer to the customers."
Dined on 8/4/2013
We thought our server was quite
friendly and helpful. The food was good but not memorable. Good location smack in the middle of the Gaslamp District. Allow15-20 minutes to find a parking spot?"
Dined on 7/31/2013
I usually visit this restaurant
more than once when I am San Diego because the quality is very consistent. They have a nice, mostly authentic menu and a pleasant and helpful staff."
Dined on 7/21/2013
My husband and I have been going
to LaFiesta for several years, since it was known as Las Fajitas. The food is always outstanding and the service is always top notch. This is my favorite restaurant in all of San Diego."
Dined on 7/19/2013
We celebrated a birthday with
dinner for ten (including two children) and we all agreed we would go back! The place was hopping, the staff was incredibly professional and welcoming, and the food was to die for. We all especially loved the shrimp chile relleno and the stuffed steak, which was a special that night. The mango margarita was delicious! The birthday boy wore an authentic sombrero while the whole restaurant sang to him. It was a great night and truly great restaurant."
Dined on 7/18/2013
This restaurant had the best
tasting Mexican food! The service was excellent. The margarita was so tasty! We ordered the sopes as an appretizer. It is out of this world! Mole sauce is the best!"
Dined on 7/9/2013
Excellent food. Ask for the
off-menu items. Friendly staff."
Dined on 6/25/2013
My fiance and I had dinner here
while vacationing in the San Diego area. Absolutely wonderful food and wonderful service. Our waiter was very very nice. It is in the middle of a row of bars in the gaslamp area - we had a great time, but it might not be for everyone. Wonderful place for dinner - sit outside so you can people watch."
Dined on 6/7/2013
Mediocre Mexican food, but we came
for all you can drink for $10 and that's what we got, so can't complain. Our glasses were always full and the outdoor seating was pleasant."
Dined on 6/2/2013
As soon as we walked in, we were
overpowered by the strong fish smell of the neighboring seafood restaurant (apparently, we were only separated by curtains from the place next door). It took a while for someone to realize we were there, but once they did, everything went great from there on out. It did turn out the salsa was made using chicken stock, which was a surprise to me as a vegetarian. But, I ordered the veggie fajitas and my companion ordered a variety of tacos. As soon as we slowed down, the waiter offered to come take our plates, maybe a little too quickly. But the food itself was fairly good (I'm told the non-vegetarian stuff was very, very good). And the Mexican margarita with citrus in it was delicious."
Dined on 5/30/2013
Great Downtown San Diego feel. Sit
on the sidewalk and see all the activity up and down the street!!"
Dined on 5/19/2013
Just recently experienced La
Fiesta for my mothers surprise 60th party! We had a group of 18 of us, I know I can vouch for everyone of them, absolutely amazing!!! Service was perfect, food was irresistible, drinks were amazing!!! Thank you La Fiesta for a great time and accommodating all of us!!!"
Dined on 5/18/2013
With happy hour prices, had the
best fish tacos ever. Grilled and fried were both awesome!"
