La FermeA local gemGreat food in a comfortable atmosphere. Well worth the drive into the burbs6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMla fermealways dependable and delicious. we have lunch here quite often5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious seafoodFor son's birthday dinner we went there and enjoyed especially fresh seafood with delicious sources! Very friendly services as usual, too!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMoverall very nice atmosphere.,overall very nice atmosphere., some food very good--other food mediocre. (There were five of us.)5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a delicious meal atWe had a delicious meal at La Ferme. Our dinners were very tastey (stuffed chicken and fricassee). The highlight for us was the french onion soup AND Amaretto souffle. It was too cold to dine outside but the deck looked inviting. We split a Caeser salad and the soup and our waitress had the portions split on 2 different plates/bowls- nice touch!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTrue French FoodLa Ferme is a place with excellent old-line service. Attentive, gracious, and no nonsense. The food is rich French food, excellent of its kind. Do make room for the dessert souffle, which is superb and delicately flavored.
Made for a fine romantic evening out.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThank you for a wonderfulThank you for a wonderful day. Service and cooking were very good. It was been for us a pleasure to visit La Ferme.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for special night outOur meal was perfect from start to finish. We had an early dinner reservation, so for most of our meal the restaurant was more than half empty. Flawless from all aspects. Excellent food--we mainly went with chef's recommendations. Can't beat the free off street parking.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGood, but not greatThe service was very attentive and the restaurant has 2 tables on their own private balconies overlooking the rest of the restaurant. The food that was ordered was cooked very well (try the Chocolate Souflee... really amazing). They also have a live piano player which adds to the ambiance, however if you sit on the balcony close to the speaker you can forget about hearing your dinner date.
The outside of the restaurant is much cuter than the inside which needs a facelift. As I said, everything was cooked well, however the menu is pretty scattered and doesn't feel like a french restaurant just because they have steak au poive.
Overall: Not sure if I will go back for dinner, but I may try their brunch which always looks amazing online.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Lunch, Brunch, DinnerLaFerme is my go-to restaurant to bring clients and friends. It is perfectly located between Silver Spring and Bethesda with plenty of parking. It is elegant and quiet, with a great lunch menu that is reasonably priced. The service is friendly, but very professional and discrete. It is also lovely for an afternoon glass of wine at the end of the day, especially now on the deck. There is a private room in the restaurant that is perfect for larger business lunches or conference with a table that seats 20, or can be used as a private area with its own service bar for a stand up reception for twice that many. I have used the restaurant for baptism brunch, baby showers and other social occaisons as well. Elegant and upbeat. Great place.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOne can always count on goodOne can always count on good food and excellent service. We love LaFerme for special evenings.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMade our Mother's DayMom is 95 and has always loved all things French. The staff was so gracious with her. As soon as the maitre d saw us, he switched us to a table in an area without steps. The restaurant is designed to look like a large provincial farmhouse; very lovely, and so evocative, she began speaking in French half way through the meal (she is not French and I haven't hear her speak it in almost thirty years). The three course prix fixe meal was delicious and interesting. Mom raved with almost every bite. When my husband found an error on the check, the owner came to our table, apologized, and comped every extra item on the check. Only drawback: If you stay downtown, and don't have a car it's, it's an almost eight mile cab ride.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous French Find! This was our first time at La Ferme and we had a wonderful experience. The menu was varied and we each had something different, so I was able to get a sense of many dishes. There was not a "miss" amongst them. The spring vegetable terrine was especially fresh-tasting and beautifully presented. An older guest found the NY strip steak tender and flavorful, and the veal was artfully done and seasoned beautifully. Desserts were superb: chocolate and marzipan Charlotte for me, and the others dishes, all light and flavorful. And the ambiance is lovely! A beautiful setting for a beautiful meal. One little quibble: our wine bottle was set away from the table and our server was not as assiduous as we would have liked. But we will return!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGraduation DinnerPerfect place to celebrate my son's college graduation! It was very special evening for all.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday bashWe had a delicious meal at La Ferme with tasty appetizers, especially the cold asparagus soup and nicely prepared seafood entrees. The highlight was the dessert souffles, served w/a candle for one us as the staff had observed us raising our wine glasses in a toast earlier - nice touch!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA solid neighborhood traditionA solid neighborhood tradition if a little on the dated end of the spectrum of decor (while still being intended atmosphere appropriate). The food was genuinely of a French character and the preparations, are tasty. Rabbit is a highlight ,salads fresh and crisp (at this dining), appetizers interesting and entrees varied. if your looking to pretend you're in France and having an quite upscale rustic repast...you'll get that with good service and plenty of space (it's a big place sometimes packed but often lightly populated) . Can't really go wrong just don't expect to be blown away by originality (still, there are only a few places like this left in this area....some with better food and reputations) but Le Ferme is Le Ferme, thank goodness5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for a local spotLa Ferme is great if you are looking for a classy french meal without the hassle of going downtown or fighting Bethesda parking. Food is very good but not great (mussels app and souffle are notable exceptions that were outstanding). Service is attentive but not as polished as you normally get at those prices. Live piano music in the background is a very classy touch that you don't find much anymore and is a real enhancement to the evening.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMake sure to order a souffleMake sure to order a souffle for dessert. They are fabulous! There were five in my party (all family) so we each tasted each others food. Everything was good. I thought the mussels were a bit overcooked, and would have like more snails in the escargot. I would definitely go back; the ambiance is wonderful, and the service was great.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really had a nice timeWe really had a nice time at La Ferme. Great french food, and a real French Maitre'd4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOn a lovely evening for diningOn a lovely evening for dining al fresco, we often gravitate to nearby La Ferme, which again did not disappoint. The patio is among the most pleasant in the area, service was efficient, and the food is traditional French fare and very good. We have brought our teenage sons there for special occasions, and they gobble up the fresh baguettes, snails or onion soup, Caesar salad, and bistro steak. Yes, there are many graying heads in the restaurant (though not on the patio), but the ample parking lot is a feature appreciated by all ages.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Celebration at La FermeWe had a lovely dinner at La Ferme to celebrate my husbands birthday! The food & service were both excellent ! All the staff sang happy birthday to him! We even got a free tasting to SugarLoaf mountain Winery! Great night overall!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMItwas our first time at LaItwas our first time at La Ferme and it was absolutely amazing! We went for date night (my husband and I) and they made us feel welcome and we had a wonderful time, definitely going again!!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were celebrating a friend'sWe were celebrating a friend's 80th birthday. She had a marvelous time. She enjoyed everything she ordered except the liver. She felt it should have been cooked a little more. The piano player was a delight!
I've dined at La Ferme a number of times and the last two times {same server} I felt our server was a tad abrupt. When dining at an establishment such as La Ferme I expect nothing but quality service. This particular server needs to work on his interpersonal skills. Otherwise, We will return however because the food and the ambience are tres magnifique!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe setting is beautiful,The setting is beautiful, the souffles are to die for, the main courses and appetizers are usually very well done. Never had a bad experience (except for the service a couple of times, which can be quite slow when the kitchen gets backed up.) But one doesn't go to La Ferme for a quick meal, but rather a relaxing one. So if you go with that attitude, slow service isn't the end of the world and the experience is wonderful. We love the place.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLa Ferme has been around inLa Ferme has been around in Chevy Chase for a long time. I've only been a few times, but I always expect it to be more stuffy than it is. Lovely restaurant, good food and acceptable service.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMost excellent evening asMost excellent evening as it was our 20th wedding anv. The wait staff and chef were outstanding and the food was exceptional. Having spent many years in the European Theater (Germany, Italy and Belgium) you have created an enviroment that made us feel we back leaving across the ocean.
Thank you very much, we will frequent your place in the future.

All three of our group felt the restaurant was even better than we remembered. Just Excellent in all respects!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Prix Fixe menu for EasterThe Prix Fixe menu for Easter Sunday seemed a little expensive, but the food was delicious and the experience was very enjoyable.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, classic FrenchWonderful, classic French food in an inviting atmosphere. The menu changes enough to keep you coming back, but there are always the classics that you count on. Most of the wait staff have been there for years and they know just how to pace you through a meal - there when you need them, not hovering when you don't. Our Easter dinner was perfect - everything you would expect to be on the menu with the twist of a delicious seafood pot pie brimming with scallops, shrimp, fresh peas and pearl onions. Don't miss this unpretentious, but excellent classic!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AM+: Food overall was good,+: Food overall was good, service good enough but not overbearing
-: Expensive, though maybe this is typical DC prices. The filet I ordered was not a good cut of meat, it was not filet.
