Diner Reviews
  • "Found this on Open Table. Mussels, Pate, French Onion Soup and Calf Liver all done to perfection. Ordered a Soufflé, What a treat. We really enjoyed and plan to go back."

  • "The New Orleans style decorating was lovely and we were treated with thoughtful service. We were celebrating a birthday, but the celebrant was too shy to mention it. Happy Birthday was sung twice during the time we had dinner. The pianist played quietly throughout our meal, loud enough that you could listen if you wanted to, but could also talk. We would like to return soon to try some of the other items on the menu."

  • "Had a wonderful birthday dinner on a Saturday evening. We chose to sit outside and were very happy with the decision. Quieter and better temps than inside. Wonderful service which made the evening. Did not feel hurried at all. Food was very good."

  • "I have an aunt who likes to go to La Ferme every time she comes to town. The atmosphere is lovely and unique for this area- a large charming home in a verdant and quiet neighborhood. We had a very nice evening, as we always do, but the service, while friendly, was extremely slow, even though we arrived before 6 PM and the place was all but empty. Our waiter disappeared for long periods, eventually vanishing altogether. We're not big complainers, nor are we needy clients. But we need our glass of wine within the first 30 minutes!"

  • "Our dining experience was quite enjoyable! Our greeting was warm and friendly, and we were promptly seated. The atmosphere was quant with a hint of rustic. Our waiter was not only attentive, but offered suggestions, which were very good by the way, and checked back to make sure that we were enjoying our choices. It became quite busy while we were there, however this did not take away from our service, which was professional and timely. The staff worked well together giving you the feeling that your dining experience was important to them. The food was delicious and well portioned for a french restaurant. We would recommend this restaurant and plan on going back ourselves."

  • "We were at La Ferme for brunch, my husband's favorite meal. We began by ordering the croissants, which were perfect, warm, flaky, and buttery. Both of us were happy with the first course, escargot and mushrooms in a puff pastry for me and onion soup for my husband. He had an omelet for his main course, which he really liked. I was so sad I couldn't finish my delicious chicken crepes with spinach in a mornay sauce. And I had to leave the leftovers as it was warm out and we were going to the theatre from there. But they were the best savory crepes I've ever had. For dessert we both got the waffles with berries in a sabayon sauce. This is one of our favorites here and it is consistantly good. I might have been in Paris."

  • "This restaurant was a great find for my girlfriend and I! I wanted to make her birthday special by taking her out to a nice place that we haven't been to yet. La Ferme is a nice place and more! The food, service, ambiance, and live pianist was spectacular. He even played Happy Birthday for my girlfriend while everyone in the restaurant sang as they brought out our delicious dessert. An overall great restaurant! We will be back for another great experience :-)"

  • "I never write reviews. But.. Enjoyed before but this time a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. 8:00 pm reservation. Pushy waiter who insisting we order as the kitchen closes at 9. What? OPENTABLE allows for reservations until 9:30. Asked if prosciutto appetizer could be without olive oil. Answered yes; but came with. 9:00 pm...told our table must clear because restaurant is closed, not just the kitchen. We were indeed the last couple in the restaurant... This was a date dinner, so I made no fuss about the prosciutto that I did not eat...and simply paid. No question by waiter as if something was wrong with the order... Won't return again. Maybe the owners are selling or retiring, since La Ferme had a definite "different" feel this time."

  • "We had another opportunity to be in the DC area, and chose an evening to enjoy our favorite restaurant, La Ferme. As always, the ambience, service and food were simply extraordinary. And the souffle, as it is every time, was superb. We make it a point to visit La Ferme anytime we are in the area."

  • "I took a friend out for lunch. We had a very nice corner table. The food was excellent. The gazpacho soup was the best that I have ever tasted! The service was excellent without being intrusive. I would highly recommend La Ferme. Jocelyn "

  • "Eating at La Ferme, I feel like I'm back in Paris--the food is delicious, the service is imprecable, and the decor, especially the balconies with their tables, reminds me of the City of Lights."

  • "When we arrived, there was maître'd. A server seated us and left. He didn't place our napkins, tell us someone would serve us soon, no menus. Someone came to get our drink order and still no welcome or menus. Throughout meal, server didn't check on us. We had to stop him passing by. My reservation through opentable noted we were celebrating moms milestone birthday and no one followed up when we arrived. When done, no one thanked for dining. We will never patronize this restaurant again. "

  • "I had some doubts about the restaurant going in--I feared it would be very old-school French with perhaps some msg and meat tenderizer thrown in, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The menu wasn't exactly adventuresome, but everything we had was very well prepared with high quality ingredients. The simple Caesar Salad was very fresh with a perfect classic anchovy dressing, and the scallops main dish was about the best I've had--perfectly fresh with a light cream sauce that didn't overwhelm the scallops. Live background music was provided by a very talented pianist who took requests. and played at levels that never impeded conversation. Overall, a very enjoyable evening. "

  • "I took two friends there for a birthday lunch. The staff and service was terrific and we had a wonderful experience. "

  • "As others have commented, the food is overpriced and the service is underwhelming. It is charming to sit on the sheltered patio but, the chairs are metal. The onion soup was ok although not hot enough, the caesar salad and chocolate souffle were good. The $34 scallops and risotto entree consisted of 4 scallops with a peapod on either side with about a cup of risotto in the center. So disappointing. "

  • "Went here for a special birthday lunch. We were not disappointed. Food was excellent. Dishes were plentiful. Happy to see good sized servings and none of that nouvelle cuisine with small servings in big plates! Service was a bit slow, but this is a French restaurant after all, where a meal should not be rushed! This may become our go to place for special lunches."

  • "Excellent management and service staff. Menu is French- standard but offers little in regional cuisine or light-French such as La Doplomate. "

  • "This was my wife's and I first time to La Ferme. It was Mom's third. It is quite easy to get to from the northern suburbs of the D.C. area. Parking was ample even tough it was crowded. The place has a warmth to it. While spacious on the inside it is also intimate. The food was well prepared, of high quality and delicious to say the least. I found the wine list a bit disappointing. The service was a little frayed. The waiter got a bit confused over the main course for our table. So one dish sat for a few minutes as the veal which we did not order went back and the steak took its place. But it did not detract from the meal. I will go back again"

  • "We went to La Ferme for Mother's Day brunch and could not be more impressed. Every dish they would bring out would be better than the next. We we were surrounded by a beautiful atmosphere and friendly wait staff. It was truly a Mother's Day to remember. "

  • "VERY good food; EXCELLENT service; very pleasant surroundings, a (slightly) hidden gem; a bit on the pricey side, Hey ! It's in Chevy Chase ! : }But, definitely worth it. Had a great time for a pre-Mothers' day (Saturday) family get together dinner."

  • "The food item that really stood out for me was the Grand Marnier dessert souffle - definitely a "desert island" food. My husband's calves liver was excellent as were my sweetbreads entree (and you can't find sweetbreads on a lot of menus these days). Both entrees flavorful and tender. Nice baguettes. Our server, Miguel, was good though might have been stretched too thin as we felt forgotten from time to time. Still, he was nice and professional. Love the Old Grandad bourbon!"
