Best Restaurants in Plateau Mont-Royal
Tried out La Fabrique for weekend
brunch. The menu is a nice break from the standard brunch fare-- no Eggs Benedict and hashbrown-laden plates here. We tried the tuna nicoise bagel, which was a little difficult to eat and wasn't exceptional in flavour, but enjoyable. We also had the pain brioché, with pork belly, pineapple, and sweet and sour sauce. This one was a winner! Service here is great, and the open-concept kitchen lets you see the cooks in action. We'd go back to try the dinner menu!"

Meh. The food sounded exciting,
but wasnt very flavourful. We were there for brunch, and although what I ordered was called 'pulled pork', what I got was pork medallions. It was too bad because I wouldn't have chosen that if I'd known. The portions were small, which if the food had been amazing wouldn't have bothered me. The wait staff was overwhelmed, and a bit brusk, but not too bad. The ambiance was awesome, so I really wanted to like the place. Due to the poor food, it just fell flat. On a brighter note, they have great coffee and mimosas! Overall we left disappointed, but not upset."

Try it! Its easy to get to. Good
for celebraing a birthday or for a group."

The food was excellent would
certainly go back the rabbit was amazing the cheese appetizer was excellent the bread was crusty and hot. The lemon tart was beautifully composed. It was another great open table find. I defiantly recommend it!!"

I had the slowly cooked salmon. It
was cooked to perfection. The flavours in the accompanying quinoa were delicious. "

They used the freshest ingredients
and some of the most flavorful food I've ever eaten. This came highly recommended and we were not disappointed. French Toast desert is not to be missed. "

Food is good and very original.
Copious meals but very savoury...sometimes a little too much. Wine list is interesting. Ambiance with the open kitchen very nice!"

On y revient."

Great place! Food and service was
above expectations. Very quaint setting, simple but nicely decorated."

Went there with a friend late on
weekdays, the service was outstanding, the food is great and the wine selection interesting."
Dined on 2/27/2014
Excellent Restaurant! The open
kitchen concept is a really cool experience, you can see how much prep and how a chef makes each dish fresh. A refreshing experience from the pre-made dinners change restaurants tend to serve you. If you have a chance and get a reservation I would highly recommend it!"

Beau petit bijou auperbe ambiance,
Dined on 2/14/2014
Truly enjoyed the set up (tables
surrounding the kitchen) and the food was outstanding. Great tartare (the 3 couteaux plate was delightful). One slight drawback; tables are a little small, but the hangers on the wall proved to be quite helpful. Will be going back, it's worth it."
Dined on 1/18/2014
The service was very good,
attentive and professional. And the food was amazing. Generous portions. I eat out very often and do not tolerate poor quality in cuisine, so most definitely I recommend this great resto."
Dined on 1/11/2014
I almost always order steak
tartare when it's offered and this is the best rendition I have ever enjoyed."

J'y retournerais."

Découverte sur St-Denis près de
l'ITHQ. Excellents plats originaux et bien cuisinés. Service chaleureux et efficace. À essayer en groupe très prochainement"

Kudos La Fabrique you really,
really, really impressed me. Thank you!"

How wonderful to sit around the
kitchen, which is in the middle of the dining room! Because we were eating early, they tried to seat us in the window, probably to be seen from the passersby. However, since it was so cold outside, we asked to sit along the wall near the cooking. And thanks for accomodating us! IT was a superb experience watching the chefs create, and being toasty warm, and eating such delightful food! the Frois Gras and Veal chef's specials were fantab! As well as the beet salad. Very attentive staff as well."

We really enjoyed the menu with
its fresh market products. The place is nice and trendy. However, our waiter was not very attentive and we also had mistakes when the food arrived at the table. Overall, we liked it and would certainly come back for another try."

Always a great place to end up at
when you're looking for great food and great service."
Dined on 9/6/2013
There were not many people in the
restaurant. The food was so so... I had the salmon tartar as an appetizer which was lacking of taste... Then I had the beef fondant as the main meal and it was good except that when you eat it.. Some parts of the beed was really spicy and some other parts not.. Service was good. The ladies were very nice"
Dined on 7/28/2013
The restaurant is in a new
location for the summer, just a few steps away from the regular place. The food and drinks were good but a bit expensive for what it was and the portion sizes."
Dined on 7/13/2013
Had a wonderful dinner
here...cuisine was innovative and ingredients were fresh. Definitely recommended for foodies or those who want to go out and have a meal that is a great value and tasty."
Dined on 6/9/2013
Dined on 5/28/2013
booked a table for 5 for lunch.
The atmosphere was perfect, restaurant full and kitchen in full display working to get through all the orders. The food was delicious and special. Recommendation for people who want something different. the fun part is to watch the cooks prepare all the food. very good place and definitely will return there."
Dined on 5/26/2013
we went there before a show and
really enjoyed our diner time. awesome foie gras and really good sides. ambiance and configuration is another great feature of the place as the kitchen is litterally in the middle of the place, open for all to see!"
Dined on 5/24/2013
Wine was great, the homemade
pickles and whipped butter starter were also very good. the Veal medallion with fig and polenta was strangely too sweet from the figs and I wouldn't recommend that dish. The salmon and the braised beef and beet salad were excellent though. Would definitely come back again. They give you cotton candy instead of mint candies!"
Dined on 5/11/2013
Staff provided excellent service!
Were very attentive, but in an indescrete manner. Enjoyed because it was relaxed in atmosphere, but still provided the high end details."
Dined on 4/30/2013
malheureusement l'expérience n'a

The service was great and
friendly, and the food was excellent. Tourists visiting Montreal should consider this restaurant. Best for couples or group of 4. Not for large group. Thanks to the team for the great evening."
Dined on 4/6/2013
Just a great time was had. For 7
people it was simply awesome to be in the back on the big table. Portions are a little big but we had been warned- we simply ignored the warnings at our peril. Wine list is decent if eclectic and desserts were supremely yummy. Go for the beef tartare and green been salad if you can. We're all going back, and soon."
Dined on 3/9/2013
This was our second time here, the
first being during montreal a la table. We had a good meal then, this time not so much. The service was mediocre (took about 30 minutes before ordering amongst other things). The menu is somewhat misleading, we were surprised when we received our entrées. We ordered 25cl of wine, we basically got a bottle of wine which we were told had that amount left. Finally, our dessert had a piece of iron (used to scrub the pans) in it. Sad since the pain perdu is quite good. Basically, had this of been our first experience we would not of went back. Now we aren't."

Great food served with passion.

I went for valentine's day with my
girlfriend and we took a 45$ bottle of wine. The bill was for 180$ and we ate really well. Only dissapointment was that we were not reminded that desert was included and so we just paid the bill and forgot about it. The waiter should have at least reminded us but we were only 4 left in the restaurant and it felt like they wanted to close nice and quick. Food was excellent though but price was fair to even a little expensive for the portions. I would not recommend for dinners, but would definitely 100% for brunches. 10 for brunches and 6.5 for dinners."
