Diner Reviews
  • "Great oceanfront dining in Belmar, NJ.. From the view, to the great food and service of its staff. The owners are always there, friendly and accommodating. Always a pleasure to go there with friends or just us two!"

  • "Saturday evening we had a dining experience that we're still thinking about today ! We shared the Insalata Contadina::Baby field greens, sliced apples, walnuts, imported goat cheese, finished with truffle-walnut vinaigrette. I have a garlic allergy so for my entre they kindly prepared this dish for me without the garlic.. Sapore di Mare.- DELICIOUS! My friend enjoyed the Orecchiette alla Barese:.My cousins shared the Zuppa di Pesce and Viel Piccata. The only way to describe the meal for the four of us was ""heaven". Portions were generous and we actually were too full for dessert. Can't wait for our next adventure. Thank you Nick for another fabulous culinary experience !"

  • "We love dining there. The staff is friendly and service is great. Joe, the owner treats you like family, and most of all the food is the best. I love eggplant and would highly recommend the rollintini."

  • "Good food. Warm patio. Friendly service. They need to make it clear on their website that they do not have wine in the winter"

  • "Always delightful even on a wintry day. Good food and great service and don't forget BYOB til Spring."

  • "We had a Valentines party of 11. We sat at about seven p.m. At this time of year it is bring your own. We brought plenty. They never rushed us out we ate at a calm pace. Enjoyed the conversation. Service of the different courses was unrushed.. Food was outstanding. Wiater Bobby was excelent.and fun. We will go back again. We left about 10:45."

  • "Took my wife here for Valentines dinner. During the winter this is a bring your own, during the spring and summer the bar is open. Was seated in the outside area, which is great for summer. It's like a big sun room, not so good for winter. They had heaters running so it wasn't bad, it actually worked well. The food was outstanding, from the appetizer to the entree. The food made the night, Excellent dinning."

  • "Best stuffed artichoke I have ever had, outstanding appetizer. Alcohol license is just seasonal which is annoying. Entres we tried were stuffed salmon which was good and stuffed lobster tails which were ok. Overall a good place, but expensive and not worth the money, each dish about $10 more than comparable places."

  • "My husband and I have been to La Dolce Vita several times and have always enjoyed it. In the winter, it is a BYOB and in the summer they have a liquor license. The food is always delicious and the staff very friendly. It does get a little noisy at times!"

  • "We did not get table we requested. Owner took us to table then when his friends arrived he moved us to a table in the "tent". Very cold,to sit out there and he was rude about it. Sorry to say we will not be going back. Service was fair."

  • "La Dolce Vita translates as “The Sweet Life” and this ocean front gem delivered, from the crunchy semolina bread to a superb Strawberries Zabaglione dessert. My wife had Capesante Crostate, pan seared jumbo scallops with sweet corn coulis served over butternut squash mashed potatoes & finished with crisp crumbled pancetta. I had the Saint Peter’s Fish, a crabmeat encrusted filet of Tilapia served over a bed of julienne vegetables, finished with a carrot cream puree. Both were excellent; portions were generous. Service was attentive and the restaurant was half full on a cold Tuesday night in January. With a seasonal liquor license, it’s a BYO in the winter until March 1. The wine list includes several reasonably priced selections."

  • "We try to avoid the most popular Belmar eateries in the height of the tourist season, but they're still deserving gems in the winter time. That's how we found La Dolce Vita this past week. The liquor license is season, meaning it's a BYOB until March or April, and that makes it a more economical choice, too. Food was terrific. Only small caveat is -- don't get the tiramisu desert in the off season because it's a packaged thing, not made like in Little italy."

  • "My husband and I recently tried La Dolce Vita after hearing several wonderful reviews. The food was exceptional. The service was excellent. But, although the manager (owner?) assured us that the outside dining area had ample heat, we both had to keep our coats on throughout the meal. There were 2 large space heaters: one on each side of the restaurant, neither one appeared to be able to heat an area beyond a few feet. Additionally, whenever someone would enter or exit the restaurant through the front enclosure, we would get a blast of artic air, and we weren't even sitting at the table closest to the door."

  • "A great way to spend New year's Eve: having good Italian food across the street from the ocean in Belmar, NJ. The restaurant managed to include many of its signature dishes on its special New Year's Eve menu and everything was impeccably prepared, presented, and delicious."

  • "It is now BYOB and when we received the confirmation it stated full wine and bar menu......... clearly its not..... food was not impressive"

  • "I've been to La Dolce Vita numerous times and this experience was the same as always. Delicious food, courteous staff, great wine selection, and large portions. I highly advise making a reservation on most nights as they fill up quickly, especially in the summer time."

  • "The place in general was fine and the food was good. We had a party of 7 and it was so noisy that we couldn't have a conversation with anyone not right next to us. The tables were also so close, but maybe because it was restaurant week that was the reason."
    Dined on 11/15/2013
  • "food was tasty and very light. two different menu offerings for Restaurant Week, in addition to their regular menu. We were a party of 11 and everyone enjoyed their selections. Service was extremely friendly. Cannot comment on Wine list or Bar, as it was BYOB after 11/15."

  • "Was glad to see that this restaurant is operating like hurricane Sandy never happened. Food and service was excellent. We went on a Saturday night and when we called ahead were told that there is BYOB on weekends which was great with us. The restaurant being across the street from the beach is always fun. We have been here a half dozen times and have never been disappointed. Certainly intend to go back."

  • "Discovered this place through Restaurant Week. Had Prix Fixe menu which was delicious. All 4 of us agreed. Mussels appetizer was the most unique I've seen and very tasty. Pork chops and spare ribs were scrumptious. Place was packed with energy on Saturday night but the service was great too! BYOB option really kept the price of dinner reasonable and we'll definitely be back!"

  • "We decided to try La Dolce Vita after looking at their food week menu. Their dishes sounded very good , and they were. All were better than I expected. If you like traditional italian dishes, you will enjoy La Dolce Vita, Their wine selection is also well stocked, but only seasonal, so check their website."

  • "Dinner was wonderful; always pleased with the appetizer & entree selection as well as selection of wine / cocktails during that time frame when they have their liquor license. Also love when I can bring my own. We're local as well and it 's so nice to have this in the neighborhood."

  • "Went for restaurant week and food was excellent. Without the deal I don't think I would eat there again. It was very pricy but after November 15th its BYOB so a $100 bill will turn into $70 not as bad."

  • "Knowing how Monmouth County is one mediocre Italian restaurant after another, I wasn't expecting much. But I was more than pleasantly surprised at the quality of ingredients and authenticity of recipes that La Dolce Vita offers. Their glass-enclosed dining area allow you to enjoy a wonderful, climate controlled connection with the ocean - all year long. Visit once and you're sure to return again."

  • "Great food but extremely noisy. Tables are close to each other and nothing to buffer the noise. The food though makes it worthwhile. Love the shrimp scampi over risotto so much I have trouble trying something else. A plus that they now have a liquor license. Serve is ok, nothing special. All in all a good dinner."

  • "First visit even though we live in the area for 5 years. Only deterrent to us not going earlier is the parking and crowds during the summer season. Now that Fall is here parking in the area is much better. Our party of 4 were impressed with the service and quality of the food. Scallops, Ravioli and Sea Bass all were done well and tasty. Carpaccio appetizer highly recommended. Decent wine list a reasonable prices. Martini served "up" (shaken not stirred) was generous in size. Note that they have a "Summer" liquor license. Will become a BYOB after mid November. Great view of the ocean but at night you can't see much."

  • "We had a lovely table on the patio, overlooking the ocean. Our waiter was wonderful, gave us great service and was very knowledgable about the menu and able to offer suggestions. I had the cod oreganta special, it was delicious, the other 2 diners ordered off the menu the scampi and mixed seafood dishes, and all wiped their plates clean with the delicious bread. The portions were plentiful and regrettably we had no room for dessert. This is our second time dining here and look forward to going back!"
