The story of La Dolce Vita began five decades ago in a small town in the hills of Sicily. It is from here that co-owner Giuseppe Salpietro brings authentic cuisine, traditions and customs, which come from centuries of good living. La Dolce Vita believes in bringing this passion for Dolce Vita, translates to mean the sweet life, into every dish that leaves our kitchen. It is our goal to make every customer feel like part of our very own family. • "Hi hopes dashed. The res taurant is well located across from beach, We weree seated in a nice outdoor covered patio. Service was fine. The food was disappointing. The caesar salad was bland, no piquant punch of a well made ceasar . I had shrimp scampi over mushroom risotto. The shrimp were tasty, though bathed in a fairly tasteless broth. The risotto tasted like plain rice and lacked the creaminess of proper preparation. My husband's whole wheat primavera had no distinctive taste and could not have had more than a trace of pesto. His "homemade" pasta tasted no better than the average dried pasta one gets in a box. All in all a big disappointment. Nothing outstanding. We will not be back."

  • "Best linguine with clam sauce my husband and I have ever had. Delicious and reasonably priced Nero D'Avola, plus a seafood salad and Salad Contadina that were out of this world. Finally, deliciious strawberries with zabaglione. A perfect meal, beautifully served, with a great view."

  • "Maybe a Saturday night in July is not the time to go. I had heard good things but can't say I agree. The food was OK ~ visually none of the plates even looked good and the taste was about the same. The noise level inside was too loud to enjoy anything."

  • "Food was good. Waiter was attentive and gave the price of the specials which is what every restaurant should do but, most don't. Unfortunately it was a very dreary night with the threat of rain, the view was lost. I enjoyed the special I ordered. The only disappointment was the dessert special. I would go back."

  • "This was ny 3rd time to this restaurant but the 1st time for dinner. Food was ok, lunch food is much better...burgers, salads, sandwiches. I had a chicken dish and it was like rubber, my husband had chicken parm and it was really good but typical... not amazing. Deserts were ok, nothing special. It was a busy Friday night so the waiter wasn't very attentive, but he was really nice. The outdoor dining on Ocean avenue is why this restaurant is so busy. The owner just opened another restaurant next door so maybe that is getting more attention."

  • "We had an amazing lunch here, right off the beach in Belmar. At lunch the patio was full, and they were most accommodating in seating us inside despite our beach attire. The food was fresh, the Prosecco was refreshing, and the service was great. We will be back!"

  • "Oceanside dining with a very friendly and helpful staff. Food was good but not outstanding given the price was hoping for just a little better. That said the ocean view and over all experience I will come again."

  • "The restaurant atmosphere was alive on a wonderful Mothers Day. Boardwalk view in Belmar, and great spot for people watching. The Lobster crab cake entrée was exceptional, and desserts were delicious. Party of six was served promptly. I will return."

  • "Unfortunately, our meals were not very good. My husband ordered chicken prmigiana and the chicken was not pounded thin and the pasta was overlooked. I ordered a pasta dish and the pasta was under cooked. The wait staff were very nice, but the ambiance left something to be desired. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It is a shame because they have a lovely location across from the beach and the views are lovely."

  • "We had a last minute change for Easter and decided to head to the shore for an early dinner. The reviews and description on Open Tsble seemed positive, and more importantly, it had openings for dinner. The antipasto was very good, aged cheese and meats. I ordered the Chateaubriand, medium rare, and it came out rare, and cold. The side dishes, too. The other dishes came out ok, but for the price, I wasn't seeing it. The service was good and everyone was pleasant. I just think the food, while good, didn't justify the price. It's expensive. "

  • "Saturday evening we had a dining experience that we're still thinking about today ! We shared the Insalata Contadina::Baby field greens, sliced apples, walnuts, imported goat cheese, finished with truffle-walnut vinaigrette. I have a garlic allergy so for my entre they kindly prepared this dish for me without the garlic.. Sapore di Mare.- DELICIOUS! My friend enjoyed the Orecchiette alla Barese:.My cousins shared the Zuppa di Pesce and Viel Piccata. The only way to describe the meal for the four of us was ""heaven". Portions were generous and we actually were too full for dessert. Can't wait for our next adventure. Thank you Nick for another fabulous culinary experience !"

  • "Best stuffed artichoke I have ever had, outstanding appetizer. Alcohol license is just seasonal which is annoying. Entres we tried were stuffed salmon which was good and stuffed lobster tails which were ok. Overall a good place, but expensive and not worth the money, each dish about $10 more than comparable places."

  • "We had a Valentines party of 11. We sat at about seven p.m. At this time of year it is bring your own. We brought plenty. They never rushed us out we ate at a calm pace. Enjoyed the conversation. Service of the different courses was unrushed.. Food was outstanding. Wiater Bobby was excelent.and fun. We will go back again. We left about 10:45."

  • "Took my wife here for Valentines dinner. During the winter this is a bring your own, during the spring and summer the bar is open. Was seated in the outside area, which is great for summer. It's like a big sun room, not so good for winter. They had heaters running so it wasn't bad, it actually worked well. The food was outstanding, from the appetizer to the entree. The food made the night, Excellent dinning."

  • "We did not get table we requested. Owner took us to table then when his friends arrived he moved us to a table in the "tent". Very cold,to sit out there and he was rude about it. Sorry to say we will not be going back. Service was fair."

  • "My husband and I have been to La Dolce Vita several times and have always enjoyed it. In the winter, it is a BYOB and in the summer they have a liquor license. The food is always delicious and the staff very friendly. It does get a little noisy at times!"

  • "We try to avoid the most popular Belmar eateries in the height of the tourist season, but they're still deserving gems in the winter time. That's how we found La Dolce Vita this past week. The liquor license is season, meaning it's a BYOB until March or April, and that makes it a more economical choice, too. Food was terrific. Only small caveat is -- don't get the tiramisu desert in the off season because it's a packaged thing, not made like in Little italy."

  • "La Dolce Vita translates as “The Sweet Life” and this ocean front gem delivered, from the crunchy semolina bread to a superb Strawberries Zabaglione dessert. My wife had Capesante Crostate, pan seared jumbo scallops with sweet corn coulis served over butternut squash mashed potatoes & finished with crisp crumbled pancetta. I had the Saint Peter’s Fish, a crabmeat encrusted filet of Tilapia served over a bed of julienne vegetables, finished with a carrot cream puree. Both were excellent; portions were generous. Service was attentive and the restaurant was half full on a cold Tuesday night in January. With a seasonal liquor license, it’s a BYO in the winter until March 1. The wine list includes several reasonably priced selections."

  • "My husband and I recently tried La Dolce Vita after hearing several wonderful reviews. The food was exceptional. The service was excellent. But, although the manager (owner?) assured us that the outside dining area had ample heat, we both had to keep our coats on throughout the meal. There were 2 large space heaters: one on each side of the restaurant, neither one appeared to be able to heat an area beyond a few feet. Additionally, whenever someone would enter or exit the restaurant through the front enclosure, we would get a blast of artic air, and we weren't even sitting at the table closest to the door."

  • "A great way to spend New year's Eve: having good Italian food across the street from the ocean in Belmar, NJ. The restaurant managed to include many of its signature dishes on its special New Year's Eve menu and everything was impeccably prepared, presented, and delicious."
