Diner Reviews
  • "Went to LDV with friends who had never been nor heard of this fine place. They were totally impressed with the entire package. My friend works at the Fisher Bldg. and stated he now has a great place to schedule lunches and after work cocktails for his staff. He could not get over this gem just down the street from where he works. As for my wife and I, we will continue to enjoy LDV and there menu whenever we can. Living in Romeo time are sometime difficult to get downtown, but when we do, LDV is the place you will find us, whether brunch after mass or dinner over the weekend to enjoy cocktails and lister to the great music. Keep up the great work. Sincerely, Arnie"

  • "Took my mentee to dinner and she loved it. I've never been disappointed with the service, food or their menu specials. A nice hidden gem in the city."

  • "We had heard great things about Last Dolce Vita and were not disappointed."

  • "Beautiful garden courtyard. Excellent music. Brunch served to you - no buffet here! And the service is the best! Menu has choices you would expect for brunch, but each dish has its own unique twist. I love the salmon hash, but the Eggs Sardou runs a close second. Great bar with a staff that knows how to mix a cocktail. And don't miss the wine list."

  • "We ate on the patio where it was a little loud, with a bachelorette party and music that could have been a little softer."

  • "great Italian food and fabulous atmosphere. kind of hidden, so you really need your GPS system if you have never been here. But it is worth it. secure valet parking in the back; you don't have to worry about your car. we sat on the patio - quite lovely, with the lights strung up on the trees. and the noise level, even with entertainment, was fine. and by the way, the singer for the night was also fabulous."

  • "Perfect for date night. It was about an hour wait to be seated outside so we decided to get drinks at the bar outside while waiting. After two seats opened up at the bar, we decided to just have our dinner there as well which was perfect since the seats were off to the side on the corner and we had a view of the entire dining yard. Our bartender Nick was awesome and made our experience a fun and perfect one! Very easy place to miss on Old Woodward since it's small and in the midst of old buildings. Definitely recommend!"

  • "A spectacular waitsfaff. Adam was awesome and so was Johnny. I will definitely be going back more often. It has been years since I was there and when I read the article about the patio that was my prime reason for going. It was everything I expected and more."

  • "For a night of outdoor dining the setting was lovely. The food terrible. The main ingredient was salt. Salt was so overpowering that I could not taste the veal unless I wiped the sauce off of it completely. The minestrone soup was greasy and the salad dressing overly oily."

  • "Consistently great food and service. My 3rd time back in less than a month - that's how good it is!"

  • "I've been going to LDV for over ten years, but this may have been my last trip. Absolutely horrible service--it took twenty minutes to get the waiter's attention then he repeatedly forgot about us and didn't check to see how our food was (after getting the order wrong). To top it off, the creme brulee was soggy and room temperature. Not worth the $$."

  • "I have previously dined at La Dolce Vita and enjoyed it greatly. However, last Sunday's brunch was a major disappointment. The service was subpar. It took forever to get a cup of coffee. Our rather beleaguered waiter explained that the kitchen had run out of coffee mugs, which was inexcusable. It also took a long time to get refills. The food was rather pedestrian. Perhaps the restaurant was short-staffed, but management should have anticipated the size of the Sunday brunch crowd. I expected more from this restaurant and it will be a long time before we return."

  • "Arrived early and stayed late. From Host, to wait staff and servers and bussers, excellent service. Don't grab my plate when I'm licking it. Tried 2 appetizers, 4 different entrees and 3 desserts. Recomend all. A great evening and a very pleasant dining experience. Anchovy and Blue cheese olives for your Martini. How can you miss."

  • "Our 4th visit here in the last year and a half. We again enjoyed everything: the ambiance, the music on the patio (the rain held off), the food, service, etc."

  • "What a great joint. Patio is lovely. Antonio, our waiter was attentaive and yet unobtrusive. Have had better bruschetta, but the veal barolo was excellent. Limited Malbec selection, but the one bottle they offered was good enough to order a second. Music was entertaining but did not hinder conversation. All-in-all a great dining experience."

  • "What a hidden gem of North Detroit. The food, music, and patio decor was what made this an absolutely amazing restaurant. Also incredible service by the waitstaff made the experience even better."

  • "Very enjoyable visit. Was seated right away on the patio, as I requested. Food was delicious and very reasonable. The only small complaint would be that the waiter never checked on us during our meal. No where to be found in fact. Luckily everything was fine. Just surprised at that. I will definitely be back and highly recommend the place!"

  • "Great experience from beginning to end. Had a mix up with the reservation I booked via Open Table but the hostess was very kind and accommodating, and seated us right away. Food is phenomenal - fresh, wonderfully flavored, tastefully unique. The starters we had were marinated portobello and also the bruschetta; Cavatelli and Lasagna, and eggplant/chicken dish for dinner; spumoni, cappuccino cheesecake, and chocolate torte for dessert - all very, very delicious and served quickly. Servers were friendly and attentive. We, as well as our guest, thoroughly enjoyed the evening and especially the ambiance. We will all definitely be back soon!"

  • "Every thing was fine until we were asked to leave because "we were there for four hours". We had a table for seven, a four course dinner with drinks and service was slow. We were waiting for the check to be completed when the hostess came tour table with her request. I understand that we were there for a long time but we were simply enjoying our meal and didn't realize there was a time limit per table. Our 400.00 check was substantial and seemed to authenticate the 4 hours at 100.00 per hour. I am appalled that I even have to justify the time and a very nice evening was discredited by a incompetent woman who has no skill in keeping patrons happy to be at their establishment."

  • "Great food. I eat out a lot and this is some of the best food I've tasted. However, when I returned home and checked my credit card statement an additional $10. was added to the charge submitted to my credit card company."

  • "This restaurant is a hidden gem with a hidden outdoor garden for dining. - We greatly enjoyed the ambience. The brunch menu was original and fabulous. Great for going out or a special occasion. • "It was our first time trying to LDV. We arrived before the rest of our party and had a cocktail at the outdoor bar. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. We were then led to our outdoor table where it took a bit of time before we saw a server. Our food arrived promptly and was delicious but our server seemed to disappear after that. To the point, we had to go to the indoor bar, on our own, to retrieve drinks for the table. The atmosphere outside was delightful. We loved this little gem, just hope for improved service next time."

  • "Wonderful Place. This was the first time we've been there. Don't be put off by it's immediate surroundings, just use valet and prepare yourself for a satisfying meal. Evening we destroyed by waiting over 15 minutes for our check AFTER we told Chris our waiter that we had DSO tickets that we needed to leave for. We literally had to chase him down in the bar in order to pay."

  • "La Dolce Vita is a hidden gem in the middle of Detroit. I hadn't been there in several years and didn't remember much other than the beautiful outdoor space. I was pleasantly surprised. The food, wine, service and ambience was excellent. The rosemary lamb chops were to die for and the creme brulee was fabulous. It's a great place to relax and enjoy a beautiful summer evening! "

  • "My experience was all that I expected and more! The service was the great, the food was seasoned just right and the mimosa was perfect! The restroom was clean, spacious for a public restroom and up to date. I am looking forward to going back. Oh I'm not big on sweets but their desserts are amazing. I tried 3 of them."

  • "Wonderful food, service and ambiance. Especially likes the live music. A must do for Italian. Loved the seafood ceviche, vegetarian lasagna, and seafood with linguini."

  • "Extremely disappointed at small helping of salmon hash for brunch @ $13.95 and not even a piece of toast to accompany it. We were not offered a lunch menu (didn't know it was available) and it would have been much more substantial at a comparable price. We ended up ordering the French toast to supplement the skimpy hash orders. "
