  • "This is one of the best Italian places in Metro Detroit. Outstanding food and amazing presentation."

  • "Other than being seated six feet from the speaker of the piano player and then moved by request, the food and service was great. The noise level was a bit much, with the piano player amplified."

  • "A delightful experience on every level (except the surrounding neighborhood). This oasis of beauty, culture, and refinement in the midst of where it is place gives LDV even higher marks than the amazing food, flawless service, terrific atmosphere, even the valet workers were terrific. Expensive to be sure, but highly recommended for that special night."

  • "There were 5 in our party and everyone enjoyed their menu and drink selections. The Bumpy Cake, made in- house, was delicious!"

  • "The place is a little hard to find with no sign pointing it out if you've never been. They sat us at a table near an air vent that was on the floor with no cover. If i moved my chair just right i could have easily had my chair leg fall into it. They also turned the air on high while we were eating that made the table cloth blow all over the place and it was umcomfortabley cold. Service was proper however assigned busboy lacked in his job to get water, bread, and clear plates and left most of these jobs to the waiter instead. Food was great with excellent flavors. Ordered the sea bass and shrimp scallop ravioli. Both delicious. Coconut sorbet was the best sorbet I've ever had. Would recommend to any food lover."

  • "Loved this restaurant which we dined at during restaurant week. Service was incredible, as was the ambiance and food. Loved the sea bass, which is not on their usual menu. Beautiful restaurant inside and out in a fairly rough area. Valet secured parking sealed the deal. Highly recommend! Will be back."

  • "We tried this for Restaurant Week and had a great experience. Arrived nearly 30 minutes early for our reservation but were seated right away. Delicious food and great wine list. Although quite busy, our server was patient and friendly."

  • "We once again had a flawless visit to LDV...from reservation to dessert, everything was perfect!"

  • "Hard to find but once you do you will enjoy it. Like going to a local restaurant in Italy."

  • "Food was great. Biggest concern is that our reservation time of 7:45 PM wasn't sat until close to 8:30 PM. It was our first time and it definitely caused some concerns, but our server made up for this. He was friendly and recommended plenty of dishes. I'd definitely go back."

  • "Our reservation was for Valentines Day. The food was AMAZING; we had lamb chops & a steak in a chocolate sauce. One of the best meals we've ever had. I took a friend for Sunday brunch & the bottomless mimosas... ordered steak (a filet) and eggs-perfection. We didn't have a reservation that afternoon so they sat us in a corner of the back room by a loud group of women. We ended up moving to sit at the bar-much better. I would recommend making a reservation regardless of the day or time, so they give you preferred seating. Energetic ambiance & excellent service. Love this place."

  • "Hidden away and not obvious to the passing motorist but this gem of a restaurant is worth locating. Great food and excellent service! I've been there at least a half of dozen times and have never been disappointed."

  • "I have driven by this place a numerous of times and never knew it existed. The food and service was outstanding. We will be returning for dinner again in the near future."

  • "Early weeknight dinner. The young, Italian waiter spoke with a heavy Italian accent. That was an authentic plus! Wine selections by the bottle or glass are reasonably priced for the fine quality. The olive oil served with the bread was the best I have ever tried. The calamari appetizer with olives and sauce was excellent. Bruchetta was forgettable (minor negative). Our entrees were superb. The gelato dessert was great. Decaf coffee was weak however I enjoyed the cinnamon flavor. All in all, high recommendations for La Dolce Vita!"

  • "I took my wife here last night for her birthday. I was looking for a quieter, more romantic restaurant for our dinner plans. I found this place and was truly impressed. The restaurant was quiet, there were candles on the tables, the music was subtle romantic music (I hate when restaurants play music too loud), and our waiter was very attentive. The food was outstanding. I think the atmosphere is perfect for a quiet date in a clean, romantic restaurant. I would go here again, and recommend it to close friends. You won't be disappointed!"

  • "I brought my sisters to the brunch for their birthday. We had reservations for 12:00. I was shocked to see how crowded you were so early in the day. The service was outstanding. I never had to ask for a refill on water, he was always there at the right time. Our waiter Mike was marvelous. The food was outstanding and we didn't have to wait long for its arrival. We had a marvelous time and look forward to returning."

  • "Got together with friends at La Dolce Vita on Saturday and had a wonderful meal. The restaurant looked to be at capacity, there was entertainment and the service was unrushed and professional. It's truly a neighborhood gem."

  • "I had not been to LDV for nearly 5 years, but was pleased to find that the top-notch food and service have not changed. I went with a large group that had a late addition to the reservation , and the restaurant easily accommodated the extra person. Our server Mike was affable and prompt, and was great with all his recommendations. The food was served quickly and perfectly, and the french toast with sauteed bananas was spectacular. I cannot wait to come back."

  • "Based on others reviews and hour mag's recommendations, we expected more - much more... First off, and this was our own problem - it was quite aways from downtown. I believe it's actually in highland park. We had reservations and were sat at what felt like an add-on table in the corner of bar area that was quite noisy and felt as if the staff forgot we were there. We waited quite a long time to even be approached by server to take drink order. So long that we flagged a busboy to give us water! The food was good but inconsistent. My house salad had the most flavorless dressing on it, but my husbands minestrone was flavorful. The "best" lasagna was mushy and not the best, however my mushroom-y pasta dish was really, really good!"

  • "Really enjoyed the experience - sadly, they were out of the Lasagna but we enjoyed our other meal selections. There was a live musician that was good, but could have done without the colored light show behind him. Can't wait to go back when the patio is open!"

  • "I have dined at La Dolce Vita several times and it is my ultimate favorite place for brunch! From the amazing food options and bottomless mimosas to the exceptional customer service, I leave impressed each time. I have yet to dine here for dinner but I come frequently for brunch. They never stop filling your glass with mimosas and the live band adds such a great touch to your dining experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Absolutely a hidden gem in the great city of Detroit!!"

  • "My husband and I went to La Dolce Vita for his 60th birthday based on a recommendation and we loved everything about it. There was a wonderful, eclectic mix of people, the food was incredible and our waiter Antonio was delightful. We will absolutely go back again. Thanks for a great memory!"

  • "Heard of this place from many people. My boyfriend and I decided to try it for valentines day and were greatly surprised. The server was very knowledgeable and recommended a delicious appetizer for us to try: burrata, prosciutto and arugula. I had the minestrone and the veal dish (Medaglioni di Vitello ai Carciofi), and my boyfriend the lobster ravioli (Ravioli D’ Aragosta Allo Zafferano). We finished our meal with a lemon bar. All was delicious and the atmosphere was very romantic and quiet. We were fortunate to be placed in the back of the restaurant where it was quieter. Our server and all the staff were very attentive to refilling our glasses without being overbearing. Will definitely be going back during warmer weather."

  • "We love it at ldv. Prices are low for the quality. Everything was delicious from appetizer to dessert. Would go every week if I could."

  • "A fairly straight forward menu of sure-to-please hits. I had salmon, my husband had ravioli in a tomato sauce. Both were very nicely prepared. We shared a Caesar salad prepared table side! LdV tries for an upscale ambience and hits the mark nicely. Appropriately priced. Give it a try- you'll be glad you did."

  • "My wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day dinner at La Dolce Vita in Detroit. This is a very nice classy restaurant, a perfect place for a special celebration. We started off with the calamari appetizer, which was excellent with the prepared sauce. My wife had the lobster ravioli special with half lobster, while I had the veal chop special. Both dishes were excellently prepared. I'm looking forward to the warmer months when we can enjoy dining in the outdoor patio."

  • "The ambiance to this restaurant really stood out. After all of the positive recommendations that I had been given for this restaurant, I was sure it would help create the special evening that would make my fiancé feel special. The valet staff was great, and even upon entering the restaurant the hostess could not find our reservation with OpenTable, but we were still seated promptly. The service is what ruined this evening and why I would not recommend this venue to anybody. The food was good, as was the presentation. The noise level was a bit much, but that was part of the expectation I had based on other's reviews and reccomensations. The inability of the server to even substitute items, or talk in a "non-condescending" manner ruined it"

  • "My husband and I were here for Valentines Day and we're not impressed. Food was mediocre at best. We had lobster ravioli and veal. Both tasted bland. Best part of the dinner was the tiramisu dessert. This place was definitely not worth all the praise I read. Maybe brunch is different but I don't think I will be back here for dinner. Plenty of other places that warrant the price and praise."

  • "Sitting close to the bar enertainment made conversation difficult so I would request a different table in the future. The music started after seating"

  • "I've been here for the second time for brunch. Lovely atmosphere with a great two person band that wasn't too loud. Waitstaff are all friendly and all will tend to your table. I haven't been disappointed on any of the food. Everything seems fresh and melts in your mouth. This isn't my last time going here; perhaps I'll try for lunch or dinner next time."

  • "If it was not for the excellent food and service we would not return because of the extreme loudness of the music that plays on Sunday."
