Diner Reviews
  • "We arrived and found that out table had been set near the window with the wine list at the ready. Staff were friendly and the room was nicely decorated. The food was very good and we really had no complaints about anything. There were a lot of couples dining which shows me that other customers enjoy this restaurant as well. An overall great experience for my wife and I who were celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary."

  • "The food was excellent. The service very good and attentive; however the kitchen also serves the pizzeria next door which lead to some kitchen/food timing coordination problems. Also, it claims to not be a BYOB but the wine is from a single vintner that is a best mediocre."

  • "this was a last minute selection on a visit to the area. Made the reservation on-line. Called later to see if they served wine/beer and was told they did not have a table for me!! Once a table was "found' i was told that they did server wine. what was not mentioned was that it was a limited local only wine list of five varieties. Nothing bad, just very average. It would have been great if it was mentioned that we also had the option to BYOB. Service was good, ambiance was a bit theme park. Food was very mediocre. Nothing to go back for at all. We had four different entrees. The veal in the Veal Parmigiana was tough and tasteless. The Pene Vodka mas bland. The pasta bolognese was dark and not tasty."

  • "Very disappointed that our waiter had to be told we were still waiting for the bottle of wine we ordered. Not a busy evening with several tables near us empty. Got our wine when we were almost finished with appetizer's. Many other restaurants in the area that have better food and much better service."

  • "Good food. Nice atmosphere (in the main dining room). Don't book on Open Table as you will be treated like an unwanted guest, as I was."

  • "ON OUR WAT TO THE PAPERMILL PLAYHOUSE WE STOPPED FOR DINNER AT LACUCIAN DI CLEMENZA... A WARM ATMOSPHERE AND CORDIAL HOSTESS LED US TO A BCAKROOM TABLE, WE DIDNT KNOW YOU COULD BYOB SO WE TRIED ONE OF THIER FEATURED MALBEC WINES - WHICH FOR THE PRICE $25 WAS SURPISINGLY GOOD. DINNER APPETIZERS INCLUDED A STRING BEAN SALAD, CALAMARI, HOUSE SALAD, TOMATO AND MOZERELLA, AND CEASAR SALAD - WHICH WERE ALL PASSED AROUND WITH GOOD COMMENTS. THE MAIN, VARIOUS (THE NAMES ESCAPE ME) DISHES OF SHRIMP OREGANATA, CHCKEN SAVOY AND BALSMIC, TILAPIA, AND SALMON WERE AS EQUAL HOT , FINELY SEASONED AND ABUNDANT. IF YOU'RE IN MILLBURN - STOP IN - FOR ANY OCCASION ( OR JUST FOR A VERY GOOD MEAL) - PS... DELICIOUS BREAD !"

  • "The restaurant was out of bread and food. A total disappointment. The mussels (except for the red wine sauce) and the calamari were average in portions and quality. The veal scaloppine had one small piece of meat and 4 mushrooms. The penne and rigatoni pastas were okay. The service was good and came with lots of apologies...we had a big party, we were busy.. (sorry). It wasn't the waiter's fault and he could only serve what the kitchen could offer. We had looked forward to this restaurant (given their reviews) and were disappointed."

  • "Love the ambience of an Italian village. The appetizers were plentiful and reasonably priced as well as the entrees and salads. The food was delicious and very tasty. The service was great. Management was friendly and accommodating. I would advise anyone looking for an enchanting night to dine at this great restaurant."

  • "Went for Valentines's Day with my wife and we had a gr8 time. Gr8 ambience. Wait staff was fantastic. The meatballs and lobster ravioli special was very good. And they gave my wife a rose on the way out. I thought the food and ambience was gr8, but any place that tries this hard deserves a look if you haven't tried it."

  • "The food is good, with a variety of specials for the holidays. It's byow with select wine served, but makes it nice for small groups or couples to meet up and enjoy a night out. Service does vary, being very good on holidays such as valentine's day, to being ok at best during a random weekend night. Worth going to if in the Millburn area and wanting Italian Food."

  • "We love the spaghetti and meatballs here! They are just like we remember from our childhood. This is a great neighborhood place where you can bring the family and dine well. The portions are large and the choices numerous. Members of our party tried a few other things including a shrimp dish and a veal dish--they were pleased with them as well. Soups, appetizers and salads were all hits as were the desserts. We plan to come back."

  • "Restaurant was good but they should not have placed our table in the same room of a kids party. We couldn't hear each other over the noise of the large kids party"

  • "Add La Cucina di Clemenza to your dining bucket list. the meatballs are 'to die for"; We were party of 6 people. Fried Calamari, melts in your mouth; delicious artichoke hearts. Each entree was prepared to perfecton; Cod Oreganta over spinach; lobster ravioli; Veal Romano, excellent. So full from dinner but shared cheesecake, also excellent. The food, decor and ambiance is better than Little Italy! Servers were very attentive, pleasant & smiling and they don't rush you. Great atmosphere and best of all it's BYOB. Can't want to go back. Don't miss La Cucina di Clemenza !!"

  • "Average food for the prices. Glorified pizzeria. No ambiance, no tablecloths, poor service, underwhelming food. There are many better choices in the area."

  • "We ended up a La Cucina di Clemenza as a convenient way to eat prior to catching a holiday show at the Papermill Playhouse. Our dinner turned out to be a wonderful first act to a truly memorable evening. The show was terrific, and our dinner was fantastic! From the quietly attentive service to the flavorful food and charming ambience, it was among the best local dining experiences we've enjoyed in a long time. My father-in-law is of Sicilian descent, and he gave the pasta a big two-thumbs up, especially the rich sauces and the arancini appetizer. He said it was like his mother used to make when he was a child growing up in the Bronx! We can't wait to go back."

  • "We were introduced to La Cucina di Clemenza a while ago by a food writer friend of mine. She called it "the meatball place." Once I tried the spaghetti and meatballs there I knew why--it's an outstanding dish! I've been back a few times but always order the same dish and it's always wonderful. Salads are good too and quite large. Service is good and it's a byob."

  • "Stopped in after Theater at Paper Mill Playhouse and was not disappointed. Service was excellent and all three dishes and appetizers we ordered were superb. Pasta with Tiapia, articokes, sauted spinache was perfection, as was a whole wheat pasta done in olive oil and garlic. Would recommend to anyone atneding a Paper Mill event, or who happens to be in the Millburn area and has a hankering for some really wonderful Italian dining. The restaurant also had a great ambience and was not noisy when we were there at all."

  • "What a pleasure it was to dine at La Cucina. From the moment we entered , we experienced a warm and genuine welcome. Since the three of us dining grew up on Italian cuisine, we were pleasantly surprised with the quality and variety of entree choices. The portions are generous and very satisfying to an experienced Italian palette. Be sure to ask for the house focaccia. It was delicious. And try the the skillfully prepared artichoke hearts as an appetizer. You won't be disappointed. Can't wait to return!"

  • "The woman seating people said she never received my reservation but would seat us in a table that people had canceled. This couldn't be because I forwarded the verification with the map from open table to people we went with. However the other person seating people said she had it and finally we had a great time. The food was delicious:-)"

  • "I had been here once before and enjoyed the meatball appetizer and pizza. This time I stopped in with a friend on a Monday evening and we were 2 of 4 diners in the place - I guess everyone else was home watching football or baseball. Our waiter was pleasant but I expected him to be a bit more attentive given that it seemed we were his only table. I ordered the red snapper and broccoli rabe special...it was mediocre. The seasonings were non-existent, the cherry tomatoes seemed just tossed on the plate, the broccoli rabe was overcooked as was the fish. The saving grace was the tartufo dessert but at $7 for tartufo I thought it was overpriced. It's a BYOB but the food quality was less than I expected."

  • "We were very pleased with the food. Two things to know: no liquor license (yet) and the restaurant is a hike to Paper Mill"

  • "It took nearly 5 minutes for the waiter to come & open the bottle of wine we brought despite it not being very busy. The hostess (owner?) did bring a yummy basket of Focaccia due to having reserved via Open Table, but did not make note of the wine needing opening. When a few minutes later we complained to her about someone to open the wine & bring glasses she was quite rude. On the plus side, once the waitrer appeared he was great. My husband loved his pasta with truflle oil, sundried tomoatoes, salmon, etc. and my Chicken Balsamico was great. Our two guests, however, found the Pasta Integrale & Spaghetti Pomodoro simply "OK." Doubt we will return."

  • "For a restaurant like this, I thought the prices were high. More than other restaurants in the area for the same food. The menu is simple and unexciting."
