  • "The small intimate rooms with fresh flowers on the tables makes this an excellent choice for a small group dinner, romantic evening, or special lunch with a friend. The Sunday lunch Prix-Fixe menu is an outstanding value and offers a wide selection within each of three courses. The lobster bisque was fresh, flavorful and a generous serving, the lamb and seafood entrees were perfectly prepared and delicious, the creme brulee classic and very nicely done. The wine list is extensive and appreciable. Service is impecable, attentive, but not stuffy. I look forward to trying the dinner menu. A wonderful find!!"

  • "I have lived in Greenwich, CT all my life, with a few scholastic exceptions, and myself and my family all agree that La Cremaillere is the best restaurant in Greenwich, Bedford, Banksville and surrounding area. A few others come close- The Homestead Inn, L'Escale, Valbella Polpo and maybe the Willet House in Port Chester, but none really touch this one. Reasons? 1) Food is way beyond incredible 2) Ambience; French style country Inn with rural paintings, fireplace and antiques tastefully throughout 3) Service. Yes, you do get these things at other restaurants, and the Greenwich area is full of great places to dine, but I PROMISE you will not be disappointed. You will, however, pay. $15 average hors d'oeuvres $40 average entrees.Try it!"

  • "The food was spectacular --- the roasted chicken with mushroom and tarragon sauce was unbelievably tasty. How does the skin stay so crispy??? One of the magical acts performed at this magical place where magical French people create edible works of art."

  • "Not creative. Food is unimaginative and the whole place is kind of old and dated. The soufflé was good but the rest was forgettable. It is not the real culinary or French level of service"

  • "Excellent service. Top notch food. Must try the short rib raviolies and soufflé."

  • "The restaurant is beautiful, pink linens, beautiful flowers, soft lighting, the atmosphere embodies romance. The service is formal but friendly. The menu changes often enough to stay interesting. If you don't want to fill up on the bread, DO NOT even taste it. It's that good, one piece and you're hooked. Seafood salad appetizer is light, fresh and delicious. Entree choices are varied. In the past we've had some trouble getting the filet cooked to the temperature ordered, always comes out too rare, so we avoid that now. This visit we had pasta in a rich, flavorful sauce and chicken that was moist and crisp at the same time. All time favorite dessert is the coffee glacé. Always a relaxed and memorable evening."

  • "Rarely do I visit a restaurant and enjoy the appetizer, entree, and dessert equally! All three were outstanding!"

  • "My favorite dish in the entire world is the mustard crusted salmon at La Cremaillere! I order it almost every time I dine here! My boyfriend teases me, but it is worth it! Merci!!!"

  • "Another fun evening with friends at La Cremaillere! We shared the fois gras terrine and the artichoke terrine and the sweet pea raviolis! All were rich in flavor and delicious! We had the campanelle pasta with morels as a mid course, it was celestial! Two of us had the loin of veal and calvados sauce and we also had the cod fish with blood orange sauce. Highly, highly, highly recommend! Four very thin apple tarts and we all left smiling!"

  • "I love this restaurant. It is reminiscent of my visit to France. The atmosphere is chic but comfortable. The waitstaff is attentive and pleasant, and they make you feel like you are the most important person in the establishment. The food is outstanding. La Cremaillere is the ultimate dining experience. I can't wait for my next visit."

  • "Had dinner there last week and ended up paying $450.00 for 3 dinners. The rack of lamb that I had was not as pink and rare as I had hoped, the other diner had the halibut and loved it and the other had the duck breast and was happy. The wine, at $100.00 a bottle was good but not worth the price. Desserts were good also. I guess that I was disappointed that that much money didn't buy me a unique and fabulous dinner."

  • "From the moment you walk into La Cremaillere you feel at home and welcomed. The service is outstanding, and on point! The food is phenomenal, and i'm not just saying that, i really mean it. The potato leak soup was excellent as well as the seafood appetizer of the day (lobster and crab meat "salad" with shrimp on the side). We also had the chefs specials of the day. I had red snapper with sauteed spinach and fingerling potatoes and my wife had, lamb chops bone-out with asparagus and fingerling potatoes. Absolutely phenomenal. The wine list is extensive and if you don't know any thing about wines, like myself, your server is wealth of knowledge and will get you what you desire. Jacket and tie is recommended or you'll feel out of place."

  • "We went to celebrate my husband's birthday and they honored my request to be seated at a romantic table for two by the fireplace. We started with the mushroom ravioli appetizer which was delicious. Then he had the veal romolade and I had the seafood au gratin, and we enjoyed. Then we ordered the chocolate cake with raspberry sorbet and the fig bread pudding both delicious. We enjoyed and recommended to friends who have also made a reservation. Enjoy!"

  • "I took my Girlfriend There for her Birthday, the Food and SERVICE was Excellent, OUR Waiter VERY Friendly and the rest of the staff right there when you need them Thank You ALL for making Her(Me) feel so welcome and special. We started with three Appetizers, one was Scallops they were so tasty they melted in your Mouth, we also had a Crab/Lobster salad and of course Oysters. i Would recommend all three. Our entrees, i had the Loin of Lamb, Tasty to say the least and was Cooked Perfectly, She the Sliced Filet and loved it... DESSERT They Brought her out a Soufflé with Chocolate sauce, Me and My Girlfriend Share everything BUT when she tasted the Souffle SHE TOLD ME TO ORDER MY OWN? I would definitely go back to try more dishes, ENJOY"

  • "Apparently this restaurant has mixed reviews from local residents and has been going downhill for years. Wish we had listened as our dining experience was very disappointing. The staff was haughty to the degree that they felt were doing us a favor by just letting us dine in the restaurant. My wife had the seared sea scallops...the four scallops so small we thought it was the appetizer. My chicken was over cooked and as dry as saw dust. We recommend the Old Post Inn for a superior dining experience,"

  • "We hadn't been to La Crémaillère Restaurant for years and so we took the drive up to try it. The waiter recommended the Tasting Menu so we went with it. The Asparagus soup was unremarkable. The seafood au gratin was bland and lacked that au gratin taste. The veal was fatty and tasted like it had been under the heat lamps too long. The souffles however were delicious. Service was good, but hurried through the first two courses. However, the coupe de grace of the evening was overhearing the staff criticize and comment about people at various tables - eg. "that guy thinks he is a wine connoisseur" Nope, I wrong. The worse part was the bill of $234 plus $45 tip - $279. (That was with just 2 glasses of house wine.)"

  • "We haven't been there for years and heard various tales. We decided to drive the 65 minute drive and give it a try and were pleasantly surprised. Gone was the pretentiousness replaced with a helpful staff. The fact that although there was a sizeable lunch crowd, it was quite enough for romantic conversation."

  • "This restaurant is down a narrow country road, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. It is very charming. The portions for restaurant week were miniscule. My husband's seafood entree consisted of 1 shrimp, 1 scallop & a 2"x2" piece of salmon, though the sauce was tasty. Wine is overpriced. Our companions had wine & we did not so we asked for separate checks. The waiter made a face indicating it really was such a bother for him. I had been there twice before & did not have the same experience. Have they changed owners or chefs? In the meanwhile, the wait staff needs to be schooled in treating patrons better."

  • "We have always loved La Cremaillere. It is a true gem! The service was impeccable, the food exquisite, and the ambiance elegant and cozy. The Maitre, I have known for years and he is exceptional at what he does. A great personality! He definitely has a lot to do with the huge success of the restaurant. The staff excellent! We have spent many New Year's Eves and birthdays here over the years. I would recommend it to anyone who loves fine food, class, and a dose of France."

  • "Had a physicians dinner here with my recommendation. All of us were thoroughly impressed with the quality and value of the food and the unobtrusive service. We opted for one of their group packages from the variety that they offer and everyone was very happy with the selection of wines and the superior quality throughout. We truly appreciated Stephane's guidance in organizing this event. This is the restaurant that I would like to go to every day!"

  • "We went with another couple on Valentines Day and then decided to go back again on our own recently. The fillet of bass with blood orange sauce was fabulous! The chocolate souffle made me want to order a second one (but I didn't!) A bottle of Chassagne Montrachet and those delightful baby ice cream cones at the end, in front of the fireplace, made us feel very happy and cozy! Thank you La Cremaillere!"

  • "We had the Tasting Menu, which were a series of small portioned dishes; mushroom soup which was delicious & garlicky, beet salad that needed some tang/citrus, beef ravioli in a wine sauce, perfectly cooked lamb with a sweet potatoe puree, finishing with a chocolate souffle! In our room, Tables were lined up closely & all Diners sat on one side looking out- it was odd- like a cafeteria layout? No privacy, you can hear everyone. They need to change this. Our waiter was French and looked tired. He served us but we felt insignificant. Did not ask if we were in need of something. Restaurant is pricey; not sure if we will return."
