Diner Reviews
  • "I brought 2 people who I am trying to do business here for lunch. It was quiet, the service was excellent and the food was great. The people I brought continued to rave about it when we got back to my office. Great place for a business lunch."

  • "Wonderful evening with friends that we hadn't seeing for a while, we love the wine, the food, the atmosphere. Lovely evening!"

  • "The food and service were very nice. Unfortunately, the add-ons that were not obvious on the menu made for an expensive dinner."

  • "This place is truly traditional Italian. It's been years since I was there with locals, but decided to go for my birthday. It is as good or better than I remembered. I can't wait to go back."

  • "i've been here several times and each time this place has not let me down, good food, good service, great ambience."

  • "Great food, great service, quiet and comfortable. What more could you ask for? La Collina is consistently a wonderful dining experience, but don't tell anyone. I wouldn't want to ruin one of my favorite places."

  • "I live near La Collina and drive past every day. Finally, on a night when my friends wanted to take me out. I suggested it. What a lovely meal. It is old world in a good way. Everything we ordered was delicious and came out quickly. I had seafood gnocchi in a blush sauce followed by Pollo Collina. Both excellent. The dessert cart was great too!"

  • "Time and again we turn to La Collina as one of our favorites! And we are never disappointed. It has become one of our frequent 'go to' places that still offers a great menu selection, and a touch of 'old world' service and ambiance. Looking forward to a return visit soon."

  • "Good menu but the food was not good enough for the high cost. E.g., a veal dish lacked flavor & my arancini far surpass those we had here. Also, our server seemed annoyed or bored; he reluctantly answered questions; he also interrupted our conversation too often to inquire how everything was, and seemed to want us to hurry up and leave. I also don't like restaurants where I'm told a list of specials without also told the cost (it's embarrassing when out with friends to have to ask) and where menu items lack any description (to know what's in a dish named for the restaurant, one must ask the server - slowing down the ordering process and annoying the server on a busy night)."

  • "There is a traditional Italian menu with well-prepared food. The cocktails are generous and well-made. The service is excellent."

  • "I recently had mt 40 th birthday party there and the staff was very accomadating to all my special requests. My waitress was name Milley and she was like in my head when she decorated my table for the party and was very attentive thru out the evening. My guests expressed how it was a 5 star restaurant and are definetly going back. I have an awesome time and will never forget my experience there. If you are looking for top notch I suggest you go."

  • "I had not been at LaCollina since 2006, when a friend had a reception there after her son's baptism. In 2006, I thought the food was very tasty and enjoyed the time there. So, my husband and I decided to go there last weekend. We ate an early dinner in the restaurant last Saturday. I thought the menu was limited and boring, the food fair (but pricey) and our waitress commented on everything we selected, which, in my opinion, is not her place. We are the customers and what we choose to eat is our choice (and by the way, we paid for it!). The wine by the glass was lousy~ tasted more like spiked grape juice. The best part of dinner was the dessert cart~ it was yummy. Overall and expensive and disappointing meal. I shall not return."

  • "the food was ehhhh.... the people and the service? five star... we will give it another try just on basis of how nice everyone was and how great the service was...but the food...serviceable red gravy fare, nothing more, and very pricey. one note: the house wines were terrific and a great pour...."

  • "Great delicious Italian food. Nice ambiance, but try to dress nicely. Often you see lots of older people dressed in suits, so if you go with more casual attire/ jeans etc., you might feel underdressed."

  • "I got the veal and it was awful.. It tasted like it had been marinated in some kind of cleaning product. Ate two bites and couldn't stand to eat any more. They did not remove it from the bill either after I had complained about it. I will never recommend it to anyone."

  • "Everything was perfect from the time we had our car valet parked to the cup of coffee to end the night, the food, service and atmosphere added to a wonderful evening for my wife and I."

  • "We live in Center City. One of the best things we liked about this restaurant...you could have conversation at your table and hear what they were saying without shouting!"

  • "This restaurant has been in business for many years. I had not been there in a long time and the food, service, ambience, etc. were all first rate. Coincidentally, I ended up there for lunch the day after this dinner, which was also excellent. La Collina is consistently a fine restaurant and lovely dining experience."

  • "Prices were high for an Italian restaurant, but the food was outstanding and worth the price. We were treated like royalty. We were required to use valet parking due to small parking lot, but we were treated like royalty again. We had the Veal Royale and the Zuppa de Pesca--both were outstanding and worth the extra money. Desserts were displayed on cart. Fresh Raspberries were very good, and two cream puffs with drizzled chocolate were presented with a candle for a birthday dessert for my guest."

  • "We have been to La Collina a number of times and it never disappoints. White table linens in a room with old world charm set the tone for a pleasant dining experience. The Italian cooking is comparable to the best in the Philly area. The traditional offerings seem enhanced by better than average sauces. The portion sizes are generous without being overwhelming. As for the service, it can't be beat. Some of the waiters have been there for close to thirty years. Any restaurant enjoying this longevity has to be great!"

  • "There is nothing good to say about the food. Even the bread is subpar. Gnocchi tasted like dry flour. Pasta, which was ordered al dente, was way overcooked."

  • "Excellent food and service. Had not been there in a while and forgot how good the restaurant was."

  • "This is a lovely restaurant with a great view over the Schuylkill River. Arrive before 7 when the noise level is lower. The room with a view is great for a date; very nice ambiance."

  • "We were a party of 6 (2 young children). We had a nice round table, so it was easy to talk to everyone. The food was very good. My two comments are, the waiter really hovered by the table, it felt more like lurking. We all felt a bit uncomfortable. At one point, he joined in the conversation when he was standing off to the side. Restaurant added on a 20% gratuity since we were a party of 6, which was fine, except, their calculation was on everything- including the tax. We thought that was ridiculous."

  • "Looking for a convenient restaurant for my friends and I to dine in the area, I always think of La Collina. Time after time, the food is great, the staff is wonderful and it is usually quiet. We are four friends who are not concerned about price, but don't want to feel as if we were squeezed. La Collina fits the bill. The twice grilled veal chop was one of the best I ever had, and I can't wait to go back to have it again."

  • "Sometimes they say try it you'll like ut. We'll I say try it you'll "Love" it! Perfection at all turns!! Great food quality, great service, great atmosphere, just excellent! BTW, the table side Dover Sole and dessert cart we're over the top. Been there a few times now...attention to detail was impressive on all fronts!! If you haven't been there, go there. You will never regret it!!"

  • "Enzo and his entire staff make dining at La Collina a wonderful experience. Attention to details, amazing northern Italian menu, exceptional dessert cart. We come to La Collina for all special occasions. The bar is intimate with live music. We had a great time at the New Year's eve celebration. Grazie Enzo!"

  • "Food was outstanding, service ok but certainly reasonable (some long periods between seeing waitress but all were very helpful), Nice place to go for a good dinner. The only minor concern was the spacing of tables seemed to be rather tight."
    Dined on 12/24/2013
  • "The food is consitently good and authentically Italian. The wait staff is not particularly sharp or responsive. The wine list is ample and features some very unusual by theb glass selections (the sweet and sparkling, low alcohol Moscato D'Asti is welcomed especially for those who want to celebrate but really do not like alcohol), but if you like anything but Italian wine, you will be left dry. Of the restaurants in the near Main Line, it is clearly a reliable choice, and has been for decades. For inspiration of those who demand moere responsive and personable service, you will be disappointed."

  • "Went with a small group and really enjoyed ourselves. This is not my first visit here but it was the first time on a Saturday evening and we sat in the bar area where there was live music -great!!!! Food and service was very good and the entertainment was wonderful."

  • "The food here has always been very good, the service on the other hand is questionable. The last two times I was there the service was just OK. When your dropping about 250 plus after tip for 2 people the service should be fantastic. Smile, suggestions and very interactive. I can almost rate the service by how quickly they remove empty dishes and glasses and how well they replenish your drinks. This trip was very bad. I had to ask for everything, sorry to say."

  • "Been there many times but this night was off. Caesar salad boring with dressing dumped over romaine and croutons. Certainly not worth the price when compared to a real house made Caesar. Dover sole flavorless, and grilled calamari bland. Just not up to par."

  • "After six or more years absence, I returned to this favorite suburban Philadelphia classic Italian restaurant to find it as charming and delicious as I remembered. The Venetian owner Enzo still greets each guest at the door; most are old friends and repeat patrons. The food is lovingly cooked and served by long-term staff members who are dedicated to making your dining experience a memorable one. The grilled fish offerings are particularly outstanding for freshness and simplicity of preparation."
