  • "Great pastas, love their house salad. Osso bucco, veal piccatta- great.! Wine list isn't spectacluar, so we bring usually a bottle. Full bar.. great martinis. Gotta love that it's family owned and operated."

  • "Very decent food. All but one of our dishes are top notch and very acceptable. Service is a bit slow and needs to be reminded. However, it is a nice quiet spot with very decent food."

  • "We had to spend the night at a hotel by SFO. Little did we know we would find such a wonderful restaurant so near an airport. It was right across the street from our hotel so we could turn in the rental car early and take shuttle in the morning for a very early flight. We went early and it was already crowded so I would highly recommend reservation for later dining. We shared the Caprese salad and the tomatoes for this time of year were outstanding and mozzarella melted in your mouth. I had the Petrole Sole special and licked the plate clean. Hubby had the lasagna special and said it was the best ever even better than what he had in Tuscany. Service was quite nice. We truly felt we were back in Italy. I would highly recommend eating here."

  • "Met my very good friend from high school there. It was quiet enough so we could talk. The food selection was extensive and both of us had a great food. They were very busy and the service was a little slow but they accommodated all our needs we would return without reservation."

  • "Once again we had a really nice dinner, great service and food. For those who may be interested - please note that it is not a large restaurant and it does tend to get noisy. Wouldn't recommend bringing young children for these reasons. Reservations are a must. We've been there many times and do plan to return."

  • "LA Collina in downtown Millbrae is a cute Italian place with a cozy atmosphere, tasty food, and good service."

  • "We enjoyed a very nice dinner. A nice menu, something for everybody. I don't suggest going with a large group, or bringing young children the restaurant is small. Go there with your special someone or a couple of friends and you will enjoy the best of what the restaurant offers."

  • "By phone, no reservations until 7PM. By Open Table, 6:45 available. Showed up before 6:30, seated immediately. Several empty tables visible. The food was good, like the neighborhood Italian restaurants in large East Coast cities. The tepenade-like diced olive/olive oil dip for the bread was one of the best I ever tasted. My osso buco and my son's chicken parmasan were also good in a comfort-food way, not gourmet, but hearty. The minestrone soup was OK but it tasted canned (can't prove it, just my impression)."

  • "We had a reservation, but they clearly are a neighborhood restaurant and would not say no to anyone! Very short staffed, so you had to ask 2-3 times for water, your drinks, cheese for pasta, etc. Looked like a cute place, but we did not enjoy it because of the service. Food was mediocre."

  • "I made a reservation at La Collina but when my party arrived there was no hostess at the front. Other customers were also waiting near the front door. The wait staff was extremely busy, zipping from table to table to serve customers. After 15 minutes, without any staff member acknowledging us, we left and went to another restaurant nearby. We only had about 90 minutes as we had to get to the airport. This was very disappointing considering we had made a reservation and this restaurant is highly rated. On a positive note, the food smelled delicious and it is a small, but lovely restaurant. The clientele who were seated seemed very happy with their meals."

  • "We accidentally found this place a couple of years ago and have returned many times. The food is consistently good. The caesar salad is excellent. If you are looking for a quiet spot with consistently good Italian food, this is it."

  • "La Collina is consistently good. Although salmon is always on the daily special menu served differently each day, you can request it the way you like it."

  • "My wife and I have been going there for about ten years. The food used to be exceptional. Now it is still good - just not quite as good as before."

  • "While in the Bay area for business I selected this based on location. What a delightful treat! Pleasantly surprised by quality of food, value, etc. There's a reason the place was packed on a Tuesday night."

  • "My wife and I were on a brief visit to the Bay area and used Open Table to find this restaurant. We didn't know much about the area and were a bit skeptical because of the restaurant's location. However, we were extremely pleased - by the food, by the service, and by the charm of the place. A true neighborhood gem!"

  • "Delicious food but the waiter could have been a bit friendlier and his service was slow. The person that served the bread, water and food was quicker than our waiter. Another waiter took over and he was more pleasant. Overall we had a nice time. However I would recommend having Italian music playing. It was dead silent."

  • "This was a great find while vacationing in the San Francisco area. Was within walking distance of our hotel, also an easy cab ride too. Food was wonderful, fun, fresh and quality ingredients were used. Tried to visit again with our kids showed up, but it was late in the evening (9:30) on a Wednesday so perhaps another time......but it was a great surprise to our time out there!"

  • "Didn't know what to expect, but were quite pleased. Fantastic food in a classic Italian atmosphere. Service was very good considering how busy it was (6:30 on a Saturday night). Parking can be hard to find, so allow some time for that."

  • "This was our first time at La Collina, and it certainly will not be our last. We were there for a very special occasion, and the staff was very accommodating. Service was timely and professional. The food was very delicious as well. Between the two of us we had the cream of asparagus soup, a cesar salad, the seafood ravioli, the veal parmigiana, and for dessert we shared the flan."

  • "Old fashioned ambiance, with food to match (in a good way!). Veal Piccata and Marsala, calamari steaks, pastas with a variety of sauces, lamb shanks and more. Everything very tasty. Vegys cooked perfectly as well."

  • "Great experience. Even better because the cranky owner was not there and the help was actually friendly and smiling!"

  • "We didn't know what to expect but we took a chance. It was amazing from the second we walked in the door. The smell and the family feeling. We were made welcome immediately. We brought our own wine and had a great meal! Will definitely recommend to friends."

  • "We were told when we got there that we did not have a reservation - we did, of course. Women was rude and unfriendly. (not the first time this has happened there but it will be the last) Food was good but we waited a long time to be served - was this intentional? Our waiter was nice enough but the woman who greeted us set a bad tone. I checked when getting home if date and time on reservation was correct and it was. I don't understand this attitude. She might even be an owner because she is always there. Too bad because this could be a nice local place."

  • "We arrived on time for our reservation. Multiple empty tables set to accommodate us. No one came to seat us. Once seated we waited almost 15 minute to receive water and complimentary basket of bread. There was another table, seated after us, that already had their food and drinks by this time. It was strange. Food was delivered, and then no one came to our table to ask if we needed anything else until we flagged down the bus boy and asked once again for our server to service our table. The food was perfectly fine. 3 pasta dishes: Special Chicken Lasagne, Bolognese, and Fettuccine. Given the other reviews, we just caught them on a bad night / or our server was having a personal issue Allow time to find a parking spot on the Street."
