LOVE this restaurant!Food is amazing! Extensive wine list - the server was very helpful in picking wine to go with our meal. Been here many times and the food is consistently just delicious! I could swim in the baby octopus stew! I hope that staple never leaves the menu.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Mother's Day DinnerThis was our second time at LaCiccia. The Service and food were outstanding. We were served by multiple individuals (they approach each table as a team) and all were knowledgeable and attentive. They were particularly nice with our kids (10 and 5). The dishes were all very well prepared and presented: oven baked squid starter and Albacore Tuna main course were perfectly cooked. The pork and lamb were also nicely done, one of the best lamb chops I have had anywhere! If you are looking for a kid-friendly dish, go for the gnochetti w Pork sagu, which is without chili powder. The wine list is expansive enough but more importantly, well-suited for the cuisine. Lastly, we could not have desert due to our 5 y.o. being tired and grumpy ;-)5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were transported to ItalyWe were transported to Italy with this meal and the staff.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMcute and yummy!!Best Sardinian dishes and the most energetic, fun, cute and knowledgeable staff!!

Lovely folks run the place and service always friendly and fun-loving. We try to go about every 5-6 weeks. Our friends there for first time were thrilled.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best! Our favorite restaurant in SF never disappoints. Last weekend we had an amazing assortment of dishes. Beginning with fresh prosciutto with a grape vinaigrette reduction. Followed by our main courses of lamb chops (perfectly seasoned and cooked), the amazing gnochetii (our favorite here), and spaghettusu with garlic and salted fish roe, an incredible linguine with prosciutto and veal, and expert sides of cauliflower and onion, broccoli and olives. We finished with the gelato trio and the saffron cakes. Both were sublime. The wine was Sardinian, red, and perfectly matched by our waiter.
Easily a top 5 restaurant in SF, with service and ambiance to match an authentic meal with innovative and feah ingredients. We can't wait to come back!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply outstanding in everySimply outstanding in every way. The pinnacle of graciousness & hospitality with impeccable food & wine. I love it more & more with each visit. We work in the industry & eat out enough to grow somewhat jaded but La Ciccia exceeds every standard.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a fantastic experience.Had a fantastic experience. The exact amount of botarga used in dishes added that perfect Sardinian touch. Truly authentic thanks!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI was very excited to haveI was very excited to have dinner here after doing some research about the place and reading reviews. To say that it lived up to all of the glowing reviews is an understatement. From the moment you walk in everyone is welcoming and friendly. I wanted to try everything but once we put in out order of calamari, stewed octopus and two pastas our server told us no main course because it would be too much food. He was right. Once we started on our delicious pasta dishes after devouring the delicious appetizers we were stuffed mid way but it was so awesome we pushed on and finished. Dessert? Oh yes please! I will definitely be returning to La Ciccia on my next trip to San Francisco.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMA true taste of Sardinian foodEvery dish we ordered was absolutely perfect, delicate and delicious. Food (fish) was quite good, had the trout and the tuna. Sardinian cuisine.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLa Ciccia, How I Adore TheeMy husband and I have been dying to check out La Ciccia, ever since we learned it serves authentic Sardinian cuisine. A few years back, we fell in love with the food while eating at a Sardinian restaurant in Milan... and have not found another one since. La Ciccia is a true gem, where the food is the main attraction but everything else from service to wine list to ambience only enhances the entire experience. We loved the fresh burrata appetizer, octopus stew, pasta with bottarga, and langostines. All of which are MUST-eats. We also adored our server who knew just the right wine to match our palate and our plates! Can't wait to go back again.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, unusual foodMy second visit. The Sardinian food has unusual ingredients with great tastes. I had a pasta dish with sea urchin and dried tuna heart that was salty like sea and earthy at the same time. Amazing! Great wine suggestions and attentive and friendly service. Tables are too close (I felt like I was too knowledgeable about the lives of the two women near me).4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved La Ciccia. The wineWe loved La Ciccia. The wine list was fun and interesting, the food was OUTSTANDING and the staff treated us like family.
Highly recommended.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMa bit expensive, but you knewa bit expensive, but you knew that coming in. Otherwise... amazing. great wine list.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMlate night yumyumlate night yumyum...cute place..tiny but full of life and good energy..
everything we have tried....excellant....been here three times....cute neighborhood...im hesitant on writing this review....fearing that more people will be trying this awesome Italian restaurant and we have difficulty making a reservation!!!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was good but notThe food was good but not amazing. I was there many years ago, when La Ciccia first opened, and the quality has gone noticeably downhill. The mussels and clams appetizer was considerably over-salted, the pane carasau tasted heavily of flour, the lamb entree was so undercooked we couldn't eat it, and the ricotta and saffron cake was dry. The octopus appetizer and the veal ragù were delicious, but considering the total bill I really hoped all the dishes would have lived up to expectations. The service was great and the wine the waitress recommended was a perfect match for our food.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLa Ciccia is among my favoriteLa Ciccia is among my favorite restaurants in the city. The food is remarkably consistent, the ambience inviting and the service attentive without smothering. I love this restaurant.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingDelicious and an adventure-- so many items on the menu were entirely new to me. The cheese and honeys were especially outstanding and beuatifully combined. The pasta was outstanding. Best lamp chops ever. Very kind and attentive service.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAs real as it gets. This restaurant would fit right at home in a small town in Italy. I can't think of another restaurant that delivers as authentic a meal and experience as La Ciccia. This is Italian food done properly and I don't say that easily. Semi-casual but top-notch everything. There are still a few I have yet to try, but this is my favorite restaurant in San Francisco.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful experience, fromA wonderful experience, from finding it in a far-off neighborhood, to the lovely Sardinian wines and food. A+ all the way, don't deny yourself!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a totally delightfulWe had a totally delightful and delicious meal here on Friday evening. First, we showed up early, and while they did not have our table, when we came back about 10 minutes before our reservation, she was able to seat us. Our waitress was so helpful and patient, helping us with a wine list that was unfamiliar. Then the food. The pasta was piping hot and delicious, the ahi tuna special was a perfect portion and cooked perfectly. We had the ricotta cake and while we were so full when we left, it was the perfect finish to a lovely meal. We will be back.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOur dinner here was excellent. Our dinner here was excellent. The spicy octopus is one not to be missed - if you like spicy foods. THe tomato sauce was pretty hot! But the octopus was cooked so well, and the flavor of the sauce was something I wanted to soak up with all of the delicious soft fresh bread. We also had two specials - a white pizza with raddichio, salami, and fresh cheese (never had raddichio that I liked but this was cooked perfectly), and a lamb and goat pasta that I could eat every night! We also tried the prawns (delicious but extremely hard to eat), and the lamb chops (wow!!!). THe server was extremely friendly and helpful when selecting wines from the extensive wine list. If I had more money, I'd return here again and again.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter traveling to Italy everyAfter traveling to Italy every year for the past 10 years, La Ciccia is the restaurant back home that we have been searching for that provides that same true Italian experience.
