LaCiccia is a near perfect restaurant. The only negative is that it's an expensive cab ride for me. Food and selection was fabulous. The lamb dish is a must. The wine choice can be left in the hands of the very competent staff. This place quickly made it to my top 10 list in the city. My list is void of the really high end (Danko, Saison, Coi, Spruce, etc.) places. Quite frankly, no need to spend that much when you can get such unique and well-prepared food like you get at LaCiccia. The food is the event.

Interesting and delicious menu of Sardinian food, with an encyclopedic list of Italian wines. The chef appears for a personal greeting even on the busiest Friday night. Not an easy reservation to get, but worth the wait.

This was a pre-flight dinner on our way to the airport. The manager/ hostess was extremely accommodating and friendly. We had 5 pieces of luggage and this place is pretty small but she quickly helped us feel right at home. The food, WOW... A friend of ours highly suggested La Ciccia and we now totally understand why. The wine list was vast and offered great finds at many price points. The calamari appetizer is a must but everything we had was basically "to die for". Our waiter was very helpful and when it came to wine advice he asked the hostess (probably the owner) for confirmation of his choice. It was a delicious caringnano from sardegna and it matched extremely well with the lighter dishes even! Hope to return.

Old friends from the Boston area learned of La Ciccia from their daughter in Seattle who once had a terrific meal here. They emailed us to ask if we knew of this Italian gem in SF their daughter raved about. We did. They arrived, we went, and la bella Lorella Degan, always attentive, always up-beat, listened to their story & accepted their gratitude for being there. Of course, the meal was terrific: from the Sardinian flat bread with rosemary and pecorino, to the amazing baked squid, then sardines, to our shared al dente pasta, an entree of delicate pork, and finally gelato and espresso, everything was fresh, timely, delicate, and both stomach- & soul-filling. They agreed: this evening was one of the high points of our 50-year friendship.

Excellent recommendations for wine were given. Describe what you are looking for and they'll have a unique wine to meet your request. Each dish is perfection and authentically Sardinian. Attention to detail and service is important to them. The staff work well as a team, seamlessly. The owners are caring and mindful of their patrons. When you dine here, you are truly a guest, and as such, are provided for well.

Our most recent experience at La Ciccia was indeed memorable. The service was excellent giving us all the time we needed to order. The food was certainly given expert attention and was one of the best restaurant meals I have had in a long time. I like the homey feeling of this restaurant and it's neighborly ambience. My go to recommendation for anyone interested in good Italian cuisine from southern Italy particularly Sardinia.

Went on date night and I felt like we were walking into a neighborhood restaurant in Italy. Food was very fresh and portions were large enough that we shared an appetizer, pasta and entree, and we left very full. First, we had a delicate saffron-spiced seafood soup that was very tasty, although it needed salt. Next, we had the pasta special with veal and sausage. The pasta was braided-ribbon shaped, which was new to me, but the sauce was a bit heavy and under spiced. Lastly, we shared the special fish which was swordfish with tapenade on a bed of cabbage. The fish was perfectly cooked and a large portion. The wine list was so extensive we relied on the waiter to advise us on wine, which was a smart decision! Will go again!

Some of the best food I've ever eaten. In the years I've been going (and returning) each time the food and service is as good or better than the last time. NEVER a disappointment. Lorella, the maitre de treats EVERY customer as family. And means it!! The restaurant is expensive, but worth every penny. This is why I keep returning 4 or 5 times a year. It's a real treat. Always.

Outstanding food with intensely flavored sauces and perfectly cooked seafood. Lovely presentation on beautiful plates. Of note was our super knowledgeable and helpful waiter who was unpretentious and unhurried even though the place was packed. Then there's the massive wine list ranging in price from very reasonable to splurge-worthy. The only downside is that the tables have been crowded in too closely for such a small venue. We were practically part of the conversation of the three tables around us and the overall noise level was fairly high. Squeezing in and out of your chair required some maneuvering. Taking out even one table might help.

La Ciccia is a one of a kind and great restaurant. It just may be the only Sardinian restaurant in the area. Although probably classified as a neighborhood restaurant, it has a regional draw because of both high quality and unusual menu choices. Choices are Italian and continental with a Sardinian twist. The wine list is extensive and probably has representatives of every good winery in Sardinia. The wine list has about 200 choices, few of which were familiar to folks in our party. Wait staff is excellent in recommending wines for various courses. Parking is difficult. If possible, take Muni. The restaurant takes on-line reservations up to 30 days in advance. Try to book as early as possible to assure securing a reservation.

Really good, semi-rustic food. Interesting flavor combinations. Wouldn't let them take anything off of the table until we had had the last bit. Yummy bread, too. One sticking point is the waiter sold a certain wine very hard and it really tasted like apple juice after the first sip.

Sometimes a restaurant which has gained a wonderful reputation "rests on its laurels", so to speak. But not at La Ciccia. We have eaten here since the beginning, and every time we do, it is fresh and wonderful and warm in every way: the lovely Sardinian dishes coming out of the kitchen brought by attentive waiters, an amazing Italian wine list, all in an atmosphere that allows one to chat with ones neighbors and compare dishes. It is a gift to us from its owners, Massimiliano Conti and Lorella Degan; and we will treasure it, and both of them, as long as we all are here.

The food was all super tasty. Heavy on the salt and flavors but just take it slow and drink a lot. The best thing all night was the calamari, which was fresh squid dressed with olive oil and pesto. The much heralded baby octopus was tender with a very rich, spicy tomato sauce. The homemade olives were high quality. The vegetables were a little bland; the kale was better than the cabbage. The spaghetti with fish roe was on the heavy side but good. The squid ink linguini was very intense, and a bit much after a few bites but okay if punctuated by drinks. The wines were universally superb, and the list is extensive. Service was friendly although not over the top, and they were courteous about bringing fresh plates when the sauces changed. Go!

Highly rated restaurant, lovely website, fascinating menu. However, the food itself was simply not very interesting. Portions are huge. Roasted squid meant a large plate of squid on a thin sauce with lots of arugula. Tasty but not different or interesting. The special fish was well-cooked but bland with large pieces of squash and a spoonful of tapenade (which was delicious). Lamb was succulent but simply sitting on a large amount of coarsely chopped cooked carrots. Service was okay but not attentive. Dress listed as smart casual. Servers are in jeans and most patrons were VERY casual - jeans and tees. Not good for a special occasion. Oh well.
