Patterned after a wine cellar with tucked away booths, this unique restaurant places diners amongst saltwater fish tanks to dine on traditional Italian steak and seafood dishes with a Northern Italian flair. House favorites include pasta staples like the tortellini tre formaggi-a three cheese filled pasta with fresh cherry tomato garlic basil sauce-and the lasagna al forno which combines pasta layers with meat filling, cream sauce and parmesan cheese. House specialities include manicotti with fresh tomato sauce, flown in fresh Dover sole filleted tableside, shrimp casaligna and spaghetti mare Monti. - DisappointedOpenTable Diner Since 2014Dined on 11/8/2014Made reservations well in advance for 4 of us. Had a friend coming in from out of town and wanted to impress them. We were greeted nicely and seated. After our drink order was taken, the hostess came and asked if we would move. She said her manager actually made the request. We thought oh sure maybe we'll get better seating. They stuck us next to the kitchen and where the staff does their billing. Extremely disappointed and embarrassed.

We were there early before an event at Lyric Opera, so could not linger to enjoy the atmosphere, service and an extra glass of wine. But nevertheless it was a great start to a special evening for my wife and me. How can you say that spaghetti is special? I don't exactly know, but there must be secret ingredients somewhere. My wife chose to add mushrooms to the meat sauce and it was spectacular. I had the veal with lemon. On occasion I had veal that was sliced slightly thinner but I've rarely had veal with more flavor. All-in-all it was a great dinner.Special Features:

The ambiance is.....damp basement. Enough about that. The food was inexpensive, and fortunately it was, otherwise I would have been more upset. The calamari was over cooked (battered crispy sticks). The veal Marsala was a soupy mess. The veal was passable for a fast food restaurant, not an "Italian Chop House" . The pasta was swimming in a gravy like soup that tasted like a weak gravy, not what you would have expected. Won't be back.Special Features:

Starting from our arrival in the basement level long narrow dark room we should have known to leave when there were no other diners in the restaurant. It became clear why when we had our food, which was truly inedible. The waiter kept trying to get us to order tequila shots and was sort of overbearing bit really the worst was the horrible, overbooked, canned food. Never again. It was so bad we joked that it had to be a front for something else.

I had looked at the menu online prior to making the reservation and saw that they had lasagna, which is one of my favorites. I started with the beef Carpaccio, which was great, the tomato basil bisque is excellent and the lasagna was superb (the best I have ever had). Their wine list is great and we enjoyed a magnificent bottle of 2000 Barolo.Special Features:

The waiters were a bit too eager with making sure that we had everything we needed. We didn't need to have someone check up on us that often -- it became a bit disruptive. All aspects of the meal are well thought and executed. My husband had the spaghetti with sausage. The portion was very large but he devoured every bite. I was going to have the veal shank but our server David recommended the lamb shank. It was perfection on a plate. Slow roasted and tender with a touch of pistachios. We had a lovely meal.

The Burrata was good, but it was served cold. Typically the ricotta filing should have been creamier. Ordered Chicken Piccata which was disappointing. The breast meet was not pounded flat as it should be and the sauce was mediocre. There was no unique taste to the dish.

I had the eggplant Parmesan which was okay and my wife has a seafood pasta which she loved. The pre-dinner salads were delicious. The service was excellent and the wait staff was very friendly. It was strange tho that when we got the bill they have the tip calculated for you at 10, 15 and 20 % if you choose to use their numbers. But the 20% rate was $2 short of what I would have figured. So they were shorting the wait staff? Anyway I left the 20%+ and left satisfied.
