Diner Reviews
  • "I have been going to La Calle Doce for 25 years+. The food has always been good, the service impeccable, and the setting comfortable. On this particular visit I tried the Mango Mojito. It's awesome! I also had the Tres Amigos seafood tacos. Yum! I'll continue to go back for another 25 years if I live so long!"

  • "From the moment we were promptly and warmly greeted at the door, the dining experience was terrific. Victor, our waiter was engaging but not overbearing. Food arrived quickly, and was presented as expertly as it was prepared. It still feels like you are dining in someone's home, but that's kind of nice. We have dined at the Lakewood location and love it too, but for other good reasons. This is truly one of the best of Dallas."

  • "What a wonderful find for us! The food was fabulous and Alma, our server was AMAZING! She's been at the restaurant for 25 years - that tells you not only what a fabulous restaurant it is but also how this family-owned restaurant has loyal, dedicated employees! The ceviche and paella were absolutely delectable! And the icing in the cake was being serenaded by the wandering guitar artist! Overall it was a great start to a wonderful evening! We will definitely be going back! Oh, and try the margaritas with a shot of sangria! Yum! Hats off to Alma and the entire La Calle Doce family for a wonderful dining experience! 👏😊"

  • " Wondering why it has taken me so long to visit La Calle Doce. I've been by the Oak Cliff spot many times. Met a special friend for dinner, she picked it by the way. I've never been big on Mexican seafood. Well, I am now! The Filete De Mojarr was delicious. I'll definitely be back to try the other seafood items. The hostess was a sweetie especially when she saw it was my first visit. Our waiter, Don Peter, was the best."

  • "A great evening was had by all. Food was excellent and staff friendly and fun. Eight of us were all dressed up in 1920s attire for birthday evening out and staff had fun right along with us. It was my second experience with La Calle Doce and both were a culinary delight at exceptionally reasonable prices. The wandering troubador was an excellent touch on an evening of find dining and fun. Thanks for making my birthday special."

  • "The food here was very good. This was our first visit and we learned we do not need an appetizer. The portions were great! We were pleasantly suprised by the $6.95 margarita price. We also learned with those, we only need 1 ! What I did not like-at all-were the screaming children. It was just one child....there were at least 3 screaming at large tables. It made the visit less than desirable which will lead us to not visit the restaurant very often."

  • " we chose this restaurant because we had dined there in the past. It continues to offer good food, attractively served. The wait staff is welcoming and quite good. We sat on the porch but found at 6PM the street noise was almost as great as the undercurrent noise inside. Despite the latter, we really enjoyed the visit."

  • "Great neighborhood gem. Very authentic. Other locations not the same. Service can vary a bit overall good."

  • "What fun!! Casual, casual dining with creative but not bizarre food combos! The appetizers alone would be fun to just try to taste all of them! We had one w/fried cheese, cabbage slaw, a complex green sauce & corn tortillas-----------delightful. Wonderful sounding seafood dishes that are spiced so well. I hear the Margueritas are superb too!"

  • "I'm a big fan of this restaurant but this time it wasn't on point. Service was just ok. Our waitress forgot to put in our drink order. We didn't receive our drinks until our food came out. The food was also just ok. I don't know if it was because our reservation was and hour before closing or maybe this was just a bad night all together. I will eat here again but I hope to see improvements. "

  • "Seafood was amazing, the margaritas were spectacular, and the service very friendly. Got the feeling this was a favorite spot of a diverse group from couples to families to groups of all ages. Excited to return."

  • "An Oak Cliff Gem! That has been consistently WONDERFUL for many years!"

  • "The special (cheese enchilada's $5) was adequate - far from the excellence of other dishes I have had here. The $5 Margarita, however, was perfect - well made with just the right amount of bite. Because of the lovely weather, it appeared that most dinner chose as we did to sit outside. However, our poor waitress was given a section of several tables that were all seated at once. Although I think she was doing her best, it made the service slow and inconsistent. And the restaurant was not over run with diners. Not her fault, but bad planning on the part of management."

  • "La Called Doce is one of our "go to" restaurants for out of town visitors. Hate introducing it to our Dallas friends because they"ll all go there and it won't be our special place anymore. The food is outstanding and not conventional Mexican, although, you can sure get excellent Tex Mex, if you want it. Terrific for seafood lovers. Always busy for dinner but service doesn't suffer. Phenomenal margaritas!"

  • "Our 3 couple group decided to travel down from the northwest suburbs, 5 meeting me as I was at a work function downtown. We wanted to try a new place and I suggested LCD as some friends had spoken highly of it. Our willingness to try something new was rewarded. I arrived before the rest of the group and was greeted very friendly by the hostess. I went to the bar and had a beer while I waited for the group. Very friendly bartender.."would you like chips and hot sauce; do you need water, etc." (great service!) That superior customer service continued with Juan, our server. Our food was excellent; don't pass up the ceviche! I also had the camarones diablo. If you like extra spicy this is the dish for you. We will definitely return. Thanks LCD!"

  • "I wrote in my last review that I would never eat here again. That changed yesterday when the restaurants in the Bishop Arts district were closed off due to a block party/fair going on. I was starving, so drove to La Calle Doce and actually had a nice lunch. Food was ok, but the service was really nice. Both the waitress and the hostess were extremely nice and friendly! There were loud, obnoxious people eating nearby, but that could happen anywhere; not the restaurant's fault."

  • "First of all, I made a reservation for 3, it was a special day out with friends. Hostess was so rushed she didn't give me a chance to claim my reservation. Whisked off to a back room, again, as I was on my last visit. Don't know if you need to request one of the charming front rooms or not but we weren't given a chance. Waiter was speedy quick which is great if you need to get in and out but not if you are enjoying a leisure lunch with friends. Told waiter we had a reservation but he said, we only reserve for parties of 6 or more. Huh? So why did they send me an email confirmation without stating this? Menu is great and extensive, so many great choices. Food was good. Friends didn't like that their soft tacos were greasy pan fried."

  • "We travel every year to the UT/OU and try new places every year however; not anymore as the staff was incredible especially our waitress Vaneesa (the way she maneuveured around the confined spaces was amazing). The food is spectacular and we will be returning as much as possible."

  • "Found this on TripAdvisor when I was looking for a date spot that would be charming, off the beaten path, and distinctive food to remember. LCD was spot on. Best Chile Relleno in town, and fajitas were marvelous. Staff: A+ for friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was superb. Already sending friends and colleagues over to try it."

  • "I would NOT recommend this restaurant for parties of more than four. we had a party of eight and were placed in the "Party Room" with three running Birthday Parties! The noise level was obnoxious, and the room temperature was well above the rest of the inside dining portion of the restaurant. We will not return with a party exceeding four."

  • "This place is oozing with charm. From the waitresses to the mariachi's even to the manager. Great hospitality and environs to make your meal special. My wife had ceviche and salmon tacos I went more traditional with beef filet. Both were very tasty and I recommend this place to others."

  • "Warm in restaurant . Food was ok.The fish my wife had was over cooked. The fries were soggy.Stuffed crab had little crab in it. i ordered a mexican food cocktail, said it had octopus, found none.for the price, i would have paid more for fresher food. Service good. Drove from Carrollton. Maybe eat here if in area. Would not make a special trip. Mena's in Carrollton is our go to restaurant. Food there looks fresher restaurant is very comfortable. Very spacious. I usually use yelp. I didn't this time.My wife thru word of mouth had heard about this place. We eat out at least 3 times a week."

  • "We had the salmon with rice & veggies. Overa very good we thought the salmon could have been a little spicier, but was cooked just right. We had the peppers & onions brought out on a seperate plate & that may have made the difference."

  • "I love this place I wish I had not waited so long to return. The menu has lots of interesting things besides the usual tex-mex fare. The service is very friendly and the food was served at a nice pace versus the usual rush that I feel at some Mexican restaurants."
