I was expecting a little more from the food but it was still good. Unique atmosphere. The peacocks were just as friendly as the staff. There happened to be a family with children sitting near and that was kind of unfortunate. I would leave the children at home to preserve the ambiance for other patrons. Also, remember your formal attire."

  • "My wife and I attended La Caille's for Valentines day. It was our first trip here under new management and we were looking forward to the trip. Valet Parking was convenient (and they were not demanding a flat rate for it) and we were seated immediately for our reservation. The food was based on a prix fixe menu which we were well aware of in advance. Our appetizer and main course were both delicious, the salad and dessert were alright. Our waiter Tomas, was a very nice gentleman but he seemed a bit overwhelmed. Bread.. then butter were forgotten for the table, both our table and the one next to ours got brought salads on two different occasions. He tried very hard and was very kind, just needed a bit of help."

  • "The kitchen has struggled the last 3 visits to not serve cold food. The service has always been great though. The food, well way to pricey, even with the nice setting. Last brunch visit, $35 for select plates (several types of benedicts) but nothing on it warrants that price -- with only coffee OR juice... at that price it should be both. We found dinner to be just as expensive... too soups and two salads, $65, ouch. We ate at the Treeroom in Sundance and experienced a higher touch of service with a more reasonable price. Maybe that is why the restaurant is so empty all the time???"

  • "When making our reservation we noted that It was a special evening for us. The staff took great care to honor our request for a cozy table by the fire. The lounge is nice for cocktails before dinner. It is small, but comfortable. The menu is diverse with something offered for all tastes. Shrimp cocktail appetizer was delicious. Lobster bisque was a favorite of all those that ordered it. The beet salad was my personal favorite. Our party of 6 ordered a mix of entrees. Everyone was very happy with their dish. Served with good timing. Finishing with desserts that did not disappoint. From start to finish the staff was very professional and the food was delicious. A great place for a special occasion."

  • "On the menu I saw nothing appealing in the appetizers-just the usual tired French fare, nothing fresh or innovative. The bread basket arrived and the so called crackers were soggy and the bread was stale. We ended up splitting a salad. We'd told the waitress that we intended to split it. She brought the entire salad on one plate and to split it she brought a tiny plate and we were to do the division ourselves. It was supposed to have walnuts in it but the pieces were few and tiny. Salad was the highlight of the meal. I ordered the chicken. For $36 I expected something tasty and juicy. It was tough and overcooked and came with a little wet rice and 2 huge carrots...the savoy cabbage was good. The décor is special but we won't be going back."

  • "Talk about a FULL dining experience. We got there a bit early and was cordially met by the valet who graciously greeted us. We stepped into the quaint bar for a cocktail and met some fantastic folks visiting from 4 different states. At our designated reservation time we were then escorted to a lovely table upstairs in a most beautifully decorated dining room. It was warm, cozy and so majestically dream like. We ate slowly - tasting every morsel and enjoying every drop... Dinner service was just delightful and the Irish Coffee served FLAMBE table side was definitely a signature feature. Afterwards we took a brief stroll about the yard taking in the magical sights and sounds. it was four of the best hours dining ever! THANK YOU!"

  • "We hadn't been to La Caille in many years even though we live around the corner. Decided to give it another try since they have new owners and a new chef. The ambience was wonderful as always, but the food is still overpriced. I ordered two appetizers and a salad. The escargots were delicious and the Coquilles St. Jacques were tasty as well, but the portions were very small. We took our own wine, so I can't comment on the wine list. It's a nice spot for a special occasion, but expect to pay a lot for atmosphere."

The rack of lamb and the beef tenderloin (pricey at $56.00) were both excellent as was the bananas foster desert. Overall the food is not worth the price point but the setting is something remarkable."

  • "My family was excited to visit La Caille for our Christmas Eve dinner as we've done in the past. The grounds and ambiance did not disappoint, still unique and amazing. The experience beyond that however, was night and day from the old La Caille. Waitresses were not breathtaking in their new modest attire and service lacked the attention to detail of the former restaurant. The menu was limited due to the holiday and the choices were traditional without the flare of the old La Caille. The meal itself was good, but not great as we had come to expect of the SLC gem. All in all, would not recommend for those who knew and loved the old La Caille."

My wife and I had a delightful dinner at La Caille; this is the second time for us since the restaurant has been under new ownership and the change is a welcome one. We both thought the food and service impeccable and we're putting it back on our list of 'must do's' for the holidays. Nicely done everyone."

Flowers I ordered were not on the table until I asked for them. The card was not included but was given the card after we complained.   • "If you are like me and have always found La Caille to be all ambience and little in the way of quality food, you need to go back. The new French trained chef is dynamite! The dinner I had was the best I've ever had at La Caille and this guy might just get them back to the elite status they've lost. The escargot preparation was very unusual and not for traditionalists but the creativity and flavor off the charts! The fish (trout and sea bass) was tender, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We did not have dessert but it looked fabulous. Try La Caille!"
