A word from La Brezza Ristorante
La Brezza, meaning ocean breeze, is considered to be one of Calgary's finest Italian restaurants. Opened in 1987 and still in its original location - once the owners house, La Brezza continues to offer an elegantly simple Italian cuisine, emphasizing traditional home-cooked goodness. You can enjoy a satisfying lunch and dinner menu with daily specials and you can even indulge on Sundays as we are one of the few local restaurants open 7 days a week. We pride ourselves in offering great food, great service, and a warm, relaxed atmosphere. See you soon! Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "A nice dinner experience with delicious home made italian pasta. A square table for four is a bit tight. Prefer the rectangle table by the window. Good for early dinners as the palce was almost empty bu nine pm."

  • "The mussel appetizer is wonderful. I was a bit skeptical to order carbonarra but I was very pleased with the dish. Really delicious. Not enough pasta came with the chicken parm, but I was full from eating too much of the bread anyway. No room for dessert. This restaurant is terrific."

  • "We felt the wine list by the glass was disappointing. Otherwise we enjoyed our evening and will certainly return when we are next in Calgary"

  • "This was just what we were looking for. Friendly staff. The owner was very interactive with the guests. Perfect spot for a romantic dinner."

  • "I was surprised when the owner showed up and start talking with us!! It made me feel like I was home. The food was delicious too. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends & family."

  • "Good calamari and good wine does not make up for pricey meals, bad service (missed ringing in 1 meal which ended up being 40 minutes later), and to compensate, we were offered free tiramisu, which we had to leave it was so old. When the manager goes off Stampeding, the staff obviously are lost! Eating Not Always A Treat!"

  • "Good food, great service, friendly atmosphere, it feels like you're at home in mama's kitchen sharing in the laughter. Photos on the wall of Italian landmarks, and Italian music playing quietly in the background gives an authentic feel to the restaurant. Quiet corners for private moments, areas for larger parties ensures everyone is accomodated. Marco the owner stopping by at each table for a laugh and a handshake makes one feel welcome. The food was tasty, hot, and served with a smile. All in all a great place to spend an evening, for a special occasion or just because."

  • "Got a reservation at the last minute and were SO impressed with this neighbourhood delight! Dined with an Italian and he was over the moon! Bruschetta a tasty starter and all our meals were delicious! Michael, our waiter, was busy but attentive and personable! Can't wait to go again."

  • "Based on online reviews I had read, I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant. The service was very slow (two hours for a one course meal), the food was decent, and the ambiance was not what I thought it would be. I was looking for a place to have a romantic date night and this was not the place for that."

  • "We have eaten at La Brezza for many years food is always great, great prices well worth the visit . Would recommend this restaurant"

  • "We had a very pleasant dinner in a nice, cozy, home-like atmosphere with excellent food and nice house wine. The service was also excellent and the owner made a special effort to say a few words to everyone, making sure they were having a good time. Would recommend this place to anyone."

  • "The food is average but the service is good. Having said that, the bruschetta and calamari are very tasty. I ordered the fettuccini vongole and they did not cheap out on the clams! A nice touch is that the owner will come to every table to see how things are going. He's very friendly with a great sense of humour."

  • "Service and food was excellent. Menu has a great variety of selections."

  • "Used to be one of our favorites. This time was disappointing. Had an 8:30 reservation; they turned the music off at 9:00. Was a bit like eating in our own kitchen. Escargot and tomato was ok. Light sauce would be better. Chicken and seafood - same thing. Red sauce smothers seafood and chicken. Bread was good. Service was OK."

  • "Took my dad for Father's Day with the family. Everyone's dish was perfect except my moms. She has the Veal Parmigina. The batter was like fried egg instead of breaded... I know everything is hand-made there so I guess there's more room for differentiation... Bruschetta was awesome and the Escargot was to die for!!!"

  • "Hosted 3 other co-workers for dinner at La Brezza. My meal and two others were excellent and the service was very good. However, there was one member of our party who ordered the veal, while the rest of us ordered dishes that took a little longer. His veal dish was very tough and overcooked and he sent it back. Unfortunately, we were billed for the dish and instead were offered a free dessert (none of us chose to have dessert). I would have preferred a gift certificate for a return visit to give them another try."

  • "Classic Italian fare and small but good wine list. Pasta and Scallopini (veal and chicken) done in a variety of ways in classic style. Not a foodie restaurant but if you crave Classic Italian the food is very good."

  • "The food was tasty. Service was a bit slow; and the table was rickety. "
    Dined on 5/21/2014
  • "The service was friendly and attentive but slow for getting the bill. Food took awhile to come. Veal was tough and the sauces were good. The swordfish was well prepared. The owner stopped by the table. "

  • "My wife, son and I had a lovely Mothers Day dinner at La Brezza. As always, the food was delicious and the service was great (much quicker that the last time we dined there). Overall it was a great dinner and experience. "

  • "We were wielded past the bar into narrow staircase which led into a dungeon, I mean basement! This should not be a dining option! Our table was by a "charming" basement fireplace, but the smell of gas leaking from it did nothing for me or my head after an hour! The room was tiny & noisy as they crammed 16 of us down there. The waiter seemed on a mental vacation. The food: difficult to eat; it arrived tepid and worse flavourless! I asked for parmigiano & doused it! I left the pasta & half the chicken. The sauce on everything was literally canned crushed tomatoes blah; not exactly fine dining or culinary art! It felt like they ran out of sauce & quickly had to open a can of crushed tomatoes to make do. Needless to say, we'll not be back."

  • "you know this was a place i was looking forward to for Long time because i have heard talk that celebrities dine at la brezza. the wine is over priced for a place where the menu was limited. i was going for the veal and they were out of veal. are guest wanted clams and they were out of clams.i asked the waitress to send over someone in charge . it took awhile and a bunch of stares in our direction but a girl did come by. i thought forget about it. had dinner and left unsatisfied."

  • "Being serenaded by a steel drum was not what we expected at an Italian restaurant, but somehow, it worked! What a fun evening! Right from our arrival when we were greeted by the enthusiastic owner, we knew that La Brezza would live up to its' reviews. The food was phenomenal- calamari app delicious (a bit spicy...). Carbonara was decadent, veal parm was wonderful. Would definitely return!"

  • "From the moment we walked in we were made to feel like every staff person there was dead set on making everything just right. And it was! Right down to the steel drum player. I really appreciate that they let you create your own buzz, rather than having a "buzz in a can" that so many places seem to think is necessary now. Lovely food, charming setting, professional & friendly staff!"

  • "Food generally quite good, wine list very limited and mostly expensive"

  • "Cannelloni and calamari are fantastic!! The owner will come out and spend a few minutes chatting with you. You'll get a sense that you are a guest at his home. "

  • "Our waiter James was excellent. Although the restaurant was extremely busy, he was jovial, charming and efficient, passing remarks with each and every one and remembering specific requests. This was our first occasion to visit this restaurant and we will definitely be returning."

  • "As usual food was good and the service was also good. I would only say that my pregnant wife had a hard time getting into her chair at first as tables were tight. I ordered porter house special which was sold out 1/2 hr following restaurant opened. All minor things all in all."
    Dined on 4/6/2014
  • "We enjoyed the food but in spite of them knowing that we were celebrating a Birthday, there was no effort to put a candle on the desert or something like that. The next table did have a candle though! What did we do wrong???"

  • "I really, really loved this restaurant! It's a little smaller than many other restaurants but that's a good thing. The food is delicious and staff is really nice - both helpful and polite. The owner of the restaurant is also really nice, he took time to talk to everyone at every table - something that seemed to be appreciated by every guest, including me! :)"

  • "La Brezza Ristorante main attraction is food quality, quantity and value for money. The selection is OK for both appetizers and main courses. Service was efficient. Desserts selection and quality could be improved (not the best Tiramisu and no efforts on presentation in the plate). Wine list could be improved (mostly unknown Italian wines: we picked a red blend which was OK). Decoration of the rooms should be updated and upgraded (stange feeling of a poorly maintained old house)."

  • "First time we have visited this restaurant and it won't be our last. We were a table of four and were able to talk comfortably without having to bellow over music. The food was delicious, and the service impeccable. Definitely a place to revisit. It was nice to see the smiling owner going around the tables checking on his guests. Great!"

  • "My husband and I both chose the special. Which consisted of a 3 course meal. Brushetta bread, choice of soup or salad, main dish of veggies, pasta and steak. It was very good at an affordable price. Highly recommend that you have reservations if planning on dinner. Walk ins are most usually turned away."

  • "My wife and I had a wonderful meal and relaxed date night at La Brezza. This quiet neighbourhood gem is great for a small party or larger group. Service, atmosphere and food were all top notch! This is a great dining experience outside the downtown core! Highly recommend!"
