  • "Smoking allowed in the outside seating area....isn't that illegal in NYC? Unfriendly hostess Good Food Good Service"

  • "This restaurant was great, the food and the ambience was amazing. I am a vegetarian and they offer a great selection for me. Def going back!"

  • "I came here on a Saturday afternoon for a birthday brunch on the earlier side of brunch time and had a great time. The service was great, the food was delicious, and the weather was beautiful, allowing us to enjoy the outdoor seating. I got the baked eggs and they were absolutely delicious, along with the various pizzas we ordered for appetizers. The ricotta cheesecake was also delicious! I would recommend La Bottega for brunch, and definitely for groups -- we were about 10 people and all the orders came out in a timely manner. Loved it!"

  • "We enjoyed the restaurant and the service was very good. We picked it specifically for the outdoor dining but they could not accommodate a party of 6 without sitting us near the smoking section and that was the main reason we chose the eat there in the first place . Other than that it was fine."

  • "Great outdoor space and the food does not disappoint at all."

  • "I normally don't post reviews, but I have to say that I dine here frequently as it close to my apartment and for the outdoor seating. But recently I have noticed the service slipping. But during Sunday brunch, it goes down as the worst service I have received in memory. It felt literally as if we were intentionally being ignored and had to ask for the basics 4 times just to get our food. Not sure I can go back, which is unfortunate."

  • "I've been here a bunch of times and always love it but this time it fell short. They had run out of the one dish I wanted, the service was very slow and everyone seemed a bit distracted. I guess everyone has off nights."

  • "Met 2 girlfriends for Saturday brunch. We all loved our meals - faro salad, quionoa salad and protein omelette. Server was lovely. Sat outside, a little noisy but it was Manhattan on a beautiful spring afternoon so it was to be expected. Reasonably priced, great location for Chelsea Market and High Line."

  • "The hostess seated us right next to where the servers were dumping dirty dishes, very loud and unsettling. We asked to be moved - after some annoyed looks from the hostess we were moved to a table under the blazing sun with no umbrella for shade. We were concerned with the heat but she said the sun will move and will be better, barely even looking at us as she walked away. Sure enough after 5 min we were getting burnt, asked the server if we can move inside or to a shaded area, another numerous annoyed looks were given. We understand that's it's nuisance so we were very polite about it but my patience was running low. Finally seated, the food served was less than mediocre and servers all looked like they were hungover. Bad experience."

  • "For years, La Bottega served wonderful thin, crispy crust pizzas with great toppings. No more. This past Sunday (Memorial Day weekend) I had one of the worst pizzas ever. The crust was wet and soggy. The toppings were disgusting, the artichoke hearts, in particular. They weren't drained, and all of that artichoke liquid only added to the underdone, limp, and soggy crust. The taste was gross and completely off putting. Make no mistake, this wasn't an off night for the pizza chef. A friend of mine who had a pizza there a week earlier, had the same awful pizza -- disgusting, soggy dough. "

  • "The food was mediocre and the service was worse. It's a shame because it is a beautiful space both inside and out. But it is totally wasted. "

  • "This place is fabulous when the service is good. 80% of the time the service is fine. However, the rest of the time it can be horrible. I don't know if they're short staffed or what. But there are times (we go there all the time) when the waitperson disappears and you are basically left to fend for yourself. This time it was good but the time before that was horrible. No service. Cold food! We always hope for the best and usually get it!"

  • "I've been here a few times, haven't been disappointed. It's not exquisite food, but it's a sort of I'm gonna come home and eat some food type of food. Not too expensive either. It's a good place to meet with friends and drink wine and eat food. Service can be a little slow sometimes though. "

  • "At first I was a little upset to hear that during the time, their brick oven was not working and pizza was not being served that evening. However, my girlfriend and I ended up ordering the steak and the veal with an appetizer of ravioli. Everything was AMAZING! After eating the flavorful appetizer we knew the main course was going to be amazing. AND IT WAS! I would definitely go again because of the service, ambience, and great food. 5/5"

  • "I frequent this restaurant quite often and it's usually pretty good. This Mother's Day I came with my mother and grandmother and the service was absolutely horrible. The waitress disappeared for a half hour at a time, got the order wrong and was just generally inhospitable. If you are going to be open on Mother's Day you can't just use the holiday as an excuse for poor service and expect your guests to understand. Very disappointed."

  • "The lovely outdoor patio with trees, plants and birds was a beautiful setting for Mothers' Day brunch. Unfortunately, the wait staff was one of the worst I've ever experienced in the city. We were seated quickly, and then ignored for 10 minutes before they brought over 2 menus (for a party of 4). We were then ignored for another 5 minutes until the waiter came over to take our order, with 2 people still not having menus. Requests for syrup, pepper, and butter were accomplished by walking up to the hostess stand and waiting until a server finally paid attention. While the brunch dishes were satisfactory, we will never ever recommend this establishment to friends after this abysmal experience."

  • "We had reservations at La Bottega and another nearby restaurant that was recommended to us -- Crispo. Both menus looked amazing. However, we decided upon La Bottega, and we were truly happy with our choice. The ambiance late at night was perfect, and the place was hopping with a high-energy modern flair. The food was indeed the very best part. The carpaccio appetizer was light and outstanding, my daughter's funghi pizza was baked to perfection, my mom's healthy pasta dish was enjoyed immensely and was packed with veggies. My tagliatelle bolognese was homemade and most probably the best I've ever eaten. After a trip to Italy last month, I was craving that dish, and I would say it may have been tastier than the meal I had abroad. "

  • "While the food and atmosphere are great, the service is underwhelming. We were neglected by our waitress from the moment we placed our order until we left. The hostess was kind enough to step in and help us order drinks, after she noticed that the waitress hadn't replenished our wine or cocktails from before the appetizers were served. When this happened repeatedly, we asked for the manager. Tenzin wasn't empathetic in any way, or helpful. He seemed to not care at all. Even the delicious white pizza cannot make up for the awful time we had on Friday. I suggest they get better management. If the top staff cares and instills that in the waitstaff, it could get better. One would hope... "

  • "We've had drinks here before, its a great outdoor spot, but never dinner. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the reasonable prices. We'll be back. Seems very kid and even dog friendly, especially if you get a seat outside."

  • "The food and atmosphere was fantastic. The waitstaff was very attentive. I would recommend this restaurant for the good food and reasonable prices. A great find in NYC."

  • "We made a reservation for 6 gents, arrived on time and were made to sit at a table that was not properly set, we're ignored by the waitstaff for 15 minutes before our drink orders were taken (the restaurant was half empty). Meals took 45 minutes and one had to be reordered. Run away from here."

  • "The best part of the dining experience was the bread for the table. The mixed drinks were imbalanced and unpleasant, and the service, though friendly, was non-existant/confusing. I received a wrong drink and then all of our utensils and side plates were cleared when the main course arrived, so we sat without utensils for 5+ minutes just staring at our cooling food. There are plenty of other places in NYC that serve comparable food with better service and better less expensive "mixology" drinks."

  • "When the service here is good it's fabulous! Unfortunately it's very inconsistent! I have had great service here. Average service. Then I have had horrible service here. I really hope they get their act together and pay attention to the servers they hire. My friends and I love this place when it's good, it's great!"

  • "Got a travel zoo voucher here for two apps, a pizza to share, two entrees and two glasses of wine. The mussels were under seasoned, the pizza was just alright, and both the branzino and salmon were bland and boring. It was a lot of food for a good price, but will not be returning to eat. When it gets warmer I'm open to going for a drink outside, but probably won't be eating anything."

  • "I've always passed this place and finally decided to pop in last minute for dinner with my sister. We got a table immediately and sat on the back patio. There was fun outdoor decor and heat lamps for warmth. We got an appetizer and a flatbread to share and it was delicious (and reasonably priced)! Service was a little slow in the beginning but picked up after our appetizer was delivered. Overall, our waiter was nice, staff was friendly and food was great- I definitely recommend!"

La Bottega had no problem accommodating us.They sat our party in a lovely totally covered outdoor area. Brunch was perfect1 Drinks were delicious ! It was a great choice."

  • "My wife, mother, older family friend, and I had a great brunch at La Bottega. Previously, I'd been to the bar for late night pool playing but this was my first meal. The cinnamon french toast with fruit, pecans, and maple syrup was delicious, tho oversized. We didn't realize when ordering that banana bread is offered on the table, which made the french toast order a bit redundant. The granola, fruit and yogurt was excellent, although the serving was absurdly oversized. The frittata was excellent. Toast had to be ordered separately. Coffee was good. Service was reasonably attentive, although we had to ask for coffee refills the couple of times that we needed it. The restaurant has an outdoor area that is probably great in the summer."

  • "This is our third or fourth time back to this restaurant. the food is delicious and plentiful in a European-type, warm environment. There is plenty of seating and it is easy for conversation. A neighborhood gem! Plenty of outside seating when the weather allows."

  • "La Bottega has excellent food but apparently not enough tables. We were relegated to the terrace which was screened in with plastic. This meant a dark atmosphere, outdoor seating, and being broiled by a heat lamp. Service was very slow. The customers next to us had a dog-- cute but illegal."

  • "My own fault for not making a Valentine's Day reservation early enough so took a chance on a restaurant that had availability and was in a neighborhood I liked. The food was very ordinary. My boyfriend's steak was "good," but the pork chop I ordered was not and the side dish was very salty. The atmosphere OK. If I did not live in Manhattan with many extraordinary places to dine, it may have not seemed so bad. Sorry La Bottega."

  • "It was the first night my husband and I went out since our baby was born 2 months ago. The 3 of us and a friend shared 2 full special pre fixe dinners and one other entree (grilled salmon) and everything was amazing. Fresh, full of flavor, perfect portions and creative dishes. Gigi was attentive and helpful and the scene was lively but not too loud. Will definitely be going back!"
