A word from La Bottega

La Bottega is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, as well as drinks and appetizers. The Trattoría, located on the north side of 9th Avenue has a full food and bar menu, and has a wood burning oven for delicious pizzas. The Caffé is located on the south side of 9th Avenue and has an… additional bar and Caffé food menu. The outdoor patio has two sections- the Trattoria side for dining, and the Caffé side for drinks and lighter fare. During the colder seasons the perimeter of the patio is enclosed for greenhouse seating. Reservations are accepted for the indoor dining room. During the summer, the outdoor patio does not accept reservations; walk-in guests are seated. Continued

"Had a problem getting seated after arriving at our reservation time. We were told there was no reservation under our name, even when I produced the confirmation number for the reservation. We had to wait for 35 minutes. When we got home there was an email from La Bottega saying our reservation had been cancelled!!!"

"We had a party of six. I asked the waitress about the wines. It was apparent she did not know the wine list. I found out later it was her second night on the job. Despite this, the service was very good. Atmosphere is wonderful. Everyone agreed the food was fair- good. Prices are very reasonable for NYC."

"Terrific all around restaurant...pizza was tasty, salads were exceptional and the sea bass and bronzini entrees were great. The fruit dessert is a winner. The only disappointment was the octupus appetizer....little too tough for my liking."

"I have eaten here many, many times in the past 5-7 years or so. Breakfasts are worthwhile, as are lunches and early dinners. For me, the place is way too loud when it becomes a scene however, so I usually make reservations pre-6:30pm, or so. I order very modestly from the dinner menu, and specialize in there "side dishes," which, ordered in abundance, make a great meal. Everything I order is pleasing to me, and that's why I order the same things repeatedly. Waiters are plentiful, but as them start to get busy, they can be annoyingly absent... but that's not a knock as much as it is a comment. Overall, I like this place, especially for a quite time with folks with whom conversation is pleasant."

"This is a really great go-to place for excellent food with a relaxing atmosphere that is gentle on the wallet. I have dined here several times and have never had a poor experience."

"The food is just what you pay for, so you get fair food for an unexpensive price. There was noise in the background coming from the club downstairs, so that disturbs the ambiance in the restaurant. Good for families, I guess."

"Table for five was requested by phone for a Sat eve dinner and was given a late time avail. So being resourceful I went to open table and found I was able to get a seating for my party with no prob. The staff was pleasant and nice an seated us with only four of our five and our waitress was wonderful considering our 5th guest arrived 30+ min late. We had a couple bottles of the house red which was not stellar, but ok. I'm not expecting too much out of a house wine for a table of thirsty friends. All in all we had the meat and cheese plate, the skirt steak starter, two guests got the salmon tartar as their main, one sea bass, one striped bass, and something else. We all had desert and were pleased with the evening.
Well priced and lovely."

"This place which is three parts(bar, cafe, restaurant)over the block between 17th and 16th on ninth avenue is like taking a trip back to 1950s france. The Maritime Hotel looks like it could have been designed by le corbusier and the vintage posters and french music continue the vibe. The menu does not break ground in italian cuisine as standard thin crust pizzas, pasta dishes. Did like the varied seafood as most places have only a couple of dishes. The service was good and can do a reasonable priced meal as pastas and pizza plus house wine not expensive by New York Standard. Though the weather was nice did not take advantage of the courtyard nor did I go over to the bar side which had a pool table. Only real fault was only 1 draft beer"
