Diner Reviews
  • "Great service and excellent fare in a quaint restaurant nestled in the woods near Glen Lake. The house pate was superb and the house salad was crisp and not overdressed. My cassoulet was savory and filled with sausage and duck. The pork belly gave it an extra special touch. Great comfort food!! To die for desserts, so come with an appetite. Good wine list as well...not overpriced by the glass as is common practice elsewhere."

  • "It had been many years since we ate at LaBecasse. We are not likely to let that happen again. The food was fabulous and the wait staff friendly and knowledgeable. We highly recommend LaBecasse for celebrating your special occasion."

  • "We dine at La Becasse for special occasions. Really, though, we ought to come more - because every time we do, we have a perfect meal, are served expertly, always receive an excellent wine pairing recommendation, and meet interesting people at the table next to us. So it was on Valentine's Day. An exceptional meal!"

  • "We always enjoy going to LaBecasse. The food is amazing (pork tenderloin and white fish). The service was impeccable. We are lucky to have a great restaurant close to our home."

  • "We have eaten here a dozen times over the years and the food is always incredibly good. A nice diverse menu with every dish prepared perfectly! The chocolate dessert was so amazing, we were fighting over the last bite. A different experience too--with the setting, old house, small room--wonderfully cozy."

  • "My husband and I had a fun and amazing dining experience on Thursday night! We celebrated the Beaujolais Nouveau by the glass thanks to Becky and the friendly hostess! Best Escargot I ever had! Wonderful food, service and ambience, thanks for such a stellar time!"

  • "We had one of the most memorable dinners here. Our courses we all delicious, and the chef paired each with a wine. We enjoyed every minute of it. We loved the small dining room and well crafted menu. I would highly suggest it for anyone who is looking for a romantic night."

  • "My husband and I had an amazing meal as usual at La Becasse! The flavors in everything were amazing, the wine selection was delicious, and dessert couldn't have been more perfect. Thanks for a great night out and the convenience on online reservations. I strongly recommend this place as well as a reservation (it's small and I'd hate to be disappointed if they were full)."

  • "From beginning to end, everything we ordered was delicious! The waitstaff was friendly and knowledgable but understaffed for the amount of customers they had to attend to. That was the only down side to our evening. There was quite a wait time for our dessert and the bill."

  • "LaBecasse has been one of our favorite, special occasion, unique for the area dining experiences for the past ten plus years. The food is excellent with a good variety of special dishes offered. The noise level can be overwhelming at times and with limited seating the closeness of the tables does not allow for private conversations. We have recommended the restaurant to many. We are pleased that the hours had been extended to include some winter days as LaBecasse is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Michigan with scenic four seasons."

  • "The server ignored my request for no sesame seeds on my salad. After bringing it, she disappeared before I could tell her and did not return until she thought we were finished. The vegetables on the plate were minimal, which I don't understand since they are the least expensive part of the meal. Again the plate was dropped off and the server disappeared not to return until she thought we were finished. My husband and I had a much better meal and experience at their sister restaurant Bistro Fou Fou in Traverse City, which I would highly recommend!"

  • "This is a great place to go for leisurely dining with outstanding food and service. The lamb was excellent, as was the hangar steak. The pear tart was an excellent finish and large enough to share."

  • "I have eaten at La Becasse several times and have never been disappointed. The food is delicious, presentation is always enticing, portion is more than adequate without being overwhelming. The waitstaff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The restaurant is small and always full so the noise level can be a negative factor but not a big one. LA Becasse is the best restaurant outside of Traverse City on the Leelanau Peninsula!"

  • "What a perfect meal to celebrate thirty years with my best friend! from the "amuse bouche" cheese appetizer, the great wine list, the wonderfull appetizers (onion puff pastry for me and a savory creme brulee for hubby)' everything was superb. Hubby had the veal flank steak marinated in a cider vinegar-based marinade. I had a beef flank steak, which was also excellent. For dessert, hubby had chocolate cake wrapped in puff pastry ( talk about gilding the lily!)' which was absurdly good, and I had the profieteroles, which were also amazing. Our server, Micah, was nearby when we needed him, but never hovered. a memorable meal, for sure!"

  • "The service and the food are outstanding. I've eaten in restaurants with Michelin stars that are not as good. If the menu looks like something that would suit your taste, don't hesitate to go. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but the food is easily worth the drive (30 min from downtown TC). It wouldn't even cross my mind to drive up to TC and not have a meal here."

  • "We heard about La Becasse from our friends up north, and we decided to give it a try for our 1st anniversary. We were not disappointed at all. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly, even the amuse bouche. I can still taste the morel risotto!"

  • "We always come here while on vacation in the Glen Arbor/Traverse City area. This is certainly fit for foodies. The French born chef uses local products to enhance his cooking. Local fresh veggies and locally made cheeses enhanced our dinners. We started with a beet gaspacho with crab meat that was delicious. We each had the salad with blueberries and cheese. I had the roast pork tenderloin and my husband had the boeuf bourguingnon. We ended with a delicious blueberry parfait."
