Diner Reviews
  • "I sort of wonder if La Baguette hasn't seen some of its last days. We were there on a Friday and the restaurant was half full. After tasting the food and getting a look at wine prices (cheapest was $7 for house plonk; most was $12-$14 per glass), I'm not surprised. The best part of my meal was the gazpacho. Others at the table had salmon (evening special) and chicken confit and said that the food was good...though the confit came 20 minutes after the rest of the food was delivered because the waitress forgot to turn in the order. I don't think, however, that I will come again to the restaurant in the evening and I would not recommend it to any one. It's fine for brunch."

  • "We have been wanting to try this place for awhile. It was just great. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu, the bakery has amazing cakes and candies that you can just walk in and buy as well it's also where they get the desserts if you order one. Overall, just a great dining experience."

  • "My husband's filet was incredible, and my daughter's salmon was good. My chicken was a little dry though. I really like how you can order petit versions of most entrees. We loved our waiter!!"

  • "Get the escargot. Get the real wine menu. Ask the owner/manager to recommend any wines not on the menu. All was wonderful."

  • "The food, as always was delicious, the wine list was good and the waitstaff was excellent. It was a very busy Saturday night and we had a table for two in a high traffic area--which marred our visit a little. (We had made a reservation several days in advance). However, the solicitous nature of the waiter provided a distraction from the very busy foot traffic going past our table (which was right at the conflux of two dining areas. It was hard to have a private conversation.)"

  • "There was nothing totally bad, there are just enough great restaurants in the city to go to so that I NEVER have to go here again. Service was very poor and there was an attitude that would have been ok if the food had been even decent. Very limited menu of all the same old tired stuff. It had been 10 years since my last visit and now I know why.....and will never return. Good luck with your customer base....better start taking care of them because your days are numbered. SH"

  • "After my fiancée and I arrived for our 9:30 Valentines night dinner we were seated by the server station which upset her,but after management noticed the concern they moved us to a booth that had already been reserved for 4 others,we really appreciated it and it made her night very enjoyable,it was perfect and we will definitely be back :) thay made our 2014 VALENTINES one to remember ,thanks :)"

  • "Despite booking well in advance our and arriving on time, our table was in the bar and our view was of the usually open kitchen door -- waiters sped by us all evening -- I recommend requesting a table in the dining room or by the window in the bar"

  • "Waited 35 minutes for food after we ordered; server forgot to offer or bring bread; and we sat there for another 20 minutes after we finished eating waiting for our bill. By that time we were not interested in desert, which was good because no one ever asked us if we wanted desert. We have eaten there before several times without all these problems. I tried to put this comment in the private section, but it was too long."

  • "La Baguette is an outstanding French Bistro. The food is high-end French and superb. It has a cozy feel. You can also pay about $60 a person for an amazing meal with wine and dessert."

  • "The food was wonderful, but I think it was the service that made our evening at La Baguette so special. The server was attentive, knowledgeable, and charming and we got some nice attention from Michel Buthion, one of the owners."

  • "Most everyone who dines out has their "go to" place - a place where the quality of food and service and atmosphere and surroundings are so consistent that you almost hate to go anywhere else. La Baguette is that place, especially with all of the "blackboard" specials to keep the variety very alive."

  • "La Baguette is our "neighborhood gem," and we enjoy meals here often. This evening was New Year's Eve, and despite the potential for a hectic night, the food and service were still excellent."

  • "Everything was extremely delicious and the owners often spoke in French, improving the French experience in their lovely restaurant."

  • "French onion soup, Lamb, Salmon & trout are the best ever. We older types can get petit portions. Mussels, when available are fabulous. We have eaten here for years, and never found anything wanting. You can't find a better restaurant in the City!"

  • "I met a colleague for a midmorning breakfast (meeting) at La Baguette that stretched into the beginning of the lunch hour. The food was excellent and the waitstaff was helpful and did not rush us. I can always rely on the food and service at La Baguette and enjoyed myself immensely, as did my guest."

  • "The server was was exceptional, food was wonderful, the ambiance was enticing. The only complaint we had was seating was rather close quarter's. With it being our anniversary a more intimate table would have been more desirable. However, the overall experience was memorable, snd we'd recommend this bistro to anyone."

  • "We have dined at La Baguette Bistro several times a year over the past several years. The food is always great, we are never disappointed no matter what we order. This is without doubt one of the best places to eat in the entire Metro area. You can pay more but you cannot find better."

  • "Christmas Eve dinner can be a trial at any restaurant. We almost stayed home but decided instead to give this old friend a try. Busy and chaotic - yes - and they were handling it well! Couple of minor glitches in our orders were fixed and the food was predictably delicious. All in all a very nice experience. Started enjoying this place with my father years ago, and it continues to be a really nice choice with selections to satisfy most every palate!"

  • "I've been wanting to try La Baguette for a very long time and finally got the chance. The food was delicious and filling. Terry, the waiter very friendly and helpful. Very cool ambiance and a great all around experience!"

  • "This is one of our most favorite. The service and food are excellent and consistent. You always know what you're getting at La Baguette. There are no surprises except that they never fail to please. It also happens to be in our neighborhood which makes it even more delectable."

  • "OK people love meat ... but they want it cooked ! Up to now, I had to prepare my beef tartare myself ... but not anymore ! Beside that starter, the rest was excellent : the country pate, the perfect bearnaise sauce (altough they could be a little more generous with the quantity, but the taste was excellent). We left the restaurant with a "chocolate bomb" for a party the next night and everybody loved it. Vive la baguette !!! We'll come back"

  • "We like La Baguette and will return. The food was just average on this trip, and the service was pleasant but quite slow. Enjoyed the ambience and people watching as always. Breakfast is your best bet here."

  • "Probably on of the best restaurant in town. The food quality is second to none and the service is always outstanding. If it was not for the prices I would probably go more often (I save it for special occasions)"

  • "The blackboard specials typically are done very well, and aren't overpriced like other restaurants of similar fare. Friday nights feel very friendly and familiar among the staff and patrons. Great dining experience."

  • "This restaurant is one you can count on to deliver a great dining experience every time. As great as the menu is, the specials on the board (very reasonably priced) are too tempting to pass up. This time, the temptation were the Red Snapper and lobster bisque. The steaks and pasta dishes are well prepared, too. We always start with the baked brie... and are glad every time."
