A word from KYOZON
Situated in a historic landmark building of Downtown Montreal, KYOZON is a young, vibrant and affordable destination blending a great bar with tasty New-Asian cuisine and a mezzanine kaiten belt - all in a quirky design.

KYOZON’s menu is focused on creating New-Asian tapas, street food and sushi that highlight local and Asian-grown ingredients. The bar offers a nice mix of Asian-inspired cocktails and spirits such as Japanese whiskies, Asian beers and a selection of imported sakes.

Reservation can be made in the main restaurant, but table and seats around the Kaiten is on a first-come-first-serve basis

Food is not great, tempura was not crispy and spring rolls were ok. Restaurant was empty when we went but we still had to wait to be seated. Great decor but other than that, there's nothing to call home about.

We were like one of two groups in the entire restaurant, which means service should be spectacular right? Well most of the time, are waitress of nowhere to be found or we couldn't get her attention when we needed her. She never came by to check on us regularly and ask if we needed anything. Didn't bring menus for some of our guests when they arrived late.. Overall it wasn't horrible, and the food was decent (but expensive such small portions) but I expected much better service

The food was amazing and reasonably priced. I recommend the tiger prawn tempura, black cod bronzed with yuzu miso, and lotus sushi. Kyozon is a great place to dine with friends because there are many different sharing plates available on the menu. The wait staff was very kind and made efforts to be accommodating. The restaurant is lit up by candles, which is great for the ambiance, but it was a bit too dark, in my opinion, and difficult to get adjusted to the lighting. Nevertheless, I would definitely return to try more dishes!

Had a fun Saturday night at this new place. My wife and I greatly enjoyed the sushi and other asian-style dishes, such as the spicy green mango salad which is more Thai. There was a dj and overall great decor, could see going with a big group of friends as easily as our date night.

Having just returned from a month-long trip to Southeast Asia (including Japan), I was curious about this newly opened restaurant in our neighbourhood. In a tasteful, sober (simply gorgeous) decor, I had a delightful meal of really FRESH Shrimps, wakame, watercress and smoked sesame vinaigrette; equally fresh and perfectly cooked Confit trout, sake chili sauce, pear and yuzu salad and scrumptious Pineapple flambé, coconut ice cream, fortune cookie caramel. My friend was equally delighted with her Grilled tamarind chicken thigh, puffed rice, peanut, cilantro salsa. The dressing and sauces were delicate, the sweet/savoury flavours balanced as were the textures; exactly as it should be.

We had a wonderful server, the food was decent but the loud music was really unpleasant. I could understand if it was later in the night (we were there at 6!) and they wanted a more 'clubby' atmosphere, but we were there to have dinner and talk to each other, not shout. Otherwise a decent place.

I reserved to Kyozon for MTLaTable. the food was great and imaginative. My friend thought her trout ws the best she'd ever eaten. I love my chicken tight with the mushroom and zuchini side but it was on the salty side. The app was real small but delicious. The dessert (flambed pineapple) was a real treat but did not taste flambed. Our waiter was really nice and attentive. 2 things that could be improved on : The hostess: she was not at her post and when she showed up she didn't seem to care we were there for MTLaTable. The music was too loud. If people are there to eat , there should be a quieter section. The decor is amazing! We will be back to try the Kaiten!

We went to Kyozon last Sunday. The location is nice and it actually brings something new in the downtown core of Montreal which is refreshing. I love the concept, but the only down part is the food that is passing by is not always that great, we chose bunch of items a la carte to share which was very tasty and i thought it was reasonably priced. For the service , our waiter was very polite and super efficient. If you're downtown you should check it out!

May be if i was 30 y younger ( very young) and starving i would i find some interest in this neww well located restaurant. DJ, music so-so ( lounge music would be much nicer) very ,very ordinary sushis, very limited menu and i have to agree with others, expensive place for the little we eat. There are so many good restaurants in montreal, why to waste time and money in this kind of badly concived concept.

We ordered our drinks 3 times, finally our waitress came to see us and apologized for the wait and promised a great service. As we were looking at the menu and asking questions she disappears without letting us know. She was trying to help serve one of her tables. I understand the place is new and they ate still trying to figure things out but, especially at the beginning, they should be overstaffing with qualified people. Service was terrible, but the food, drinks and ambiance were good.

We were there for dinner this past week, and was looking forward to a fun atmosphere, as well as good food. The food was sub-par, and little to no variety. They say that there are dishes starting at $2, however, it's the same two dishes that are going around. $7 for a two piece roll that I can get at sushi shop for half the price, is less than stellar. I would only go back if it was for a snack and not a meal. Really not affordable, and no variety. We had to eat the same things more than twice because there was nothing changing on the belt. If you're a vegetarian, it's cheap. You can have a veggie roll, or edamame for $2. Other than that, really not great.

My date and I went to KYOZON a few days ago. Fully aware that their opening was only last week I wasn't expecting too much. I was pleasantly surprised with the food. The wait staff were great, trying their best to accommodate our request, even though some of them weren't on the menu that night. The only drawback seems to be that the kitchen staff is very slow. We had 4 tapas as appetizers and shared a main dish and the whole meal took 1h45 min to finish. I was on a date so I didn't mind but it seemed a little lengthy for what we ordered. All in all I will be back.

Service was great. Our waiter Mike was awesome. Decor very modern and rustic. Food was good but not really a "sharing" concept., most of the plates were either too small portions or just hard to share. Good selection of sake even thought they were small bottles. Overall I would recommend this place and I would definitely go back but don't go too hungry because you'll have to pay a lot.

Tried the restaurant for the first time this weekend with a friend. We stuck to the sushi part of the menu and were unfortunately not impressed. We ordered the sashimi mixed platter as well as a few rolls. The sashimi pieces were quite small and very thinly sliced. The rolls were mediocre at best. Most of the food did not have much flavour or taste. I ordered one mixed drink from their special cocktail list and was shocked by the size of the glass it was served in. Service was friendly and helpful but not very knowledgeable. Music was very loud and it was hard to hear my friend speak from across the table...Sadly this place was overhyped. Definitely not impressed :(

Too much hype for what it is. The plates are way too expensive, and the choices on the kaiten are too limited (and I was there a Friday night at 7pm). The kaiten is advertised as the main attraction but it is actually very small and the disposition of the table makes it unpleasant. The service is confusing and incoherent as there is more than one waiter for your table. Orders get confused, and I had a problem with a plate I ordered regarding allergies, as the message didn't pass from the one getting the order to the one bringing it. I must say that the sushis were good, but the prices are ridiculous compared to what you can get elsewhere for the same quality. Overall, I was very disappointed.
