A word from Kyma - Atlanta
Kyma is a contemporary Greek seafood tavern like no other. The cuisine is inventive yet approachable that is true to its Mediterranean origin. Kyma is dramatic, with a dazzling display of constellations on the deep blue ceiling, white marble columns and a bold fresh fish display. The welcoming patio, with its plush furniture and white linen curtains, offers the ideal setting to savor a glass of Greek wine and Kyma’s array of appetizers. Fresh, healthful food, attentive Greek hospitality and festive atmosphere await at Kyma. Proper dress is required. “A true labor of love. Bravo.” -The Atlanta Journal-ConstitutionContinued

Diner Reviews
  • "We have, in the past, not had great experiences at this restaurant, which is surprising because of the high ratings it receives. We were pleasantly surprised when we had a delicious meal--the special appetizer was fantastic and our main courses were excellent. we will be back!"

  • "My husband and I enjoyed Kyma very much. We have never been and we were a little leery of what to expect. However our waiter took the time to explain the dishes and made some excellent recommendations. We will be returning."

  • "First off, our food took entirely too long to come out. We didn't mind at first and the manager was very apologetic. However, my lamb chops were burnt to a crisp completely inedible. I was finally able to get the attention of our waitress, she took them & said she would remove the item from our bill and bring me a replacement. When we asked for the bill the lamb chops were still listed. She finally fixed that problem. We gave her my gift card to which she said we would have to give another card for tax (never heard of that). Then she doesnt bring my gift card back even though there was still a balance. She said "theres only like a dollar or so left". When I explain that there is more left on the card she goes and gets it for me."

  • "The waiters are always knowledgeable about the food & wine list - My wife and I enjoy the opportunity to sample Greek wines not easily available in the Atlanta market - the small plates are our favorite way to eat at Kyma, copied by others, but not as well done anywhere else. On this trip we really enjoyed the scallops, prawns, spicy lamb pie, beet salad and delicious spanakopita - sharing the plates encourages conversation - leave your iphones in the car!"

  • "A friend and I went here for her bday! I had the lamb and the grilled octopus! Incredible food and service was fantastic."

  • "Food and sevice were excellent! Go for several of the small plates, like the prawns, but save room for the whole fish entree and especially deserts. Superior service including knowledge of the wine list and menu made this a special evening."

  • "Brought my 20 year old niece for her first time dining at Kyma - one of my favorite places. She loves the decor and ambiance. We shared several appetizers including Kyma's famous grilled octopus which I had raved about and then shared the Lavraki. My niece loved it all and declared the octopus the best she'd eaten. She already talks about coming back. Our server was friendly, efficient and attentive. The pace of the meal was just right. Easy to see why Kyma is a favorite."

  • "Still good but not the best experience. I thought the mussels in heavy cream was too rich and not really a healthy dish.my server, Corey, talked to me constantly.I was by myself and it was early( 5:30pm) so I guess he was trying to entertain me. I had wanted to purchase a bottle of your wonderful olive oil and told Corey ,but we both forgot. Is there any way I can pick it up while in Atlanta during the day? We don't live there but travel through often."

  • "We came here for a late dinner after getting into town. Once we told our server we would just like to share some small plates and have some wine, it seemed as though he lost all interest and we weren't as important as his other tables. The restaurant was not busy at all, it was late on a Sunday night and for the style and atmosphere, I was disappointed. Our server cleared a plate here and there but never asked how everything was or checked back until another server finally took all of our plates and reset our silverware. Besides the lack of service, that tried being redeemed at the end.. The food was absolutely amazing and we enjoyed every bite of it! Will be back next time we're in town to give it another chance."

  • "Enjoyed the variety of small plates which are plenty to fill you up with just getting too, also great array of fish available for your picking just as you walk in. Service is very friendly and nice atomosphere. Enjoyed the beluga lentils as well as the Sponokopita, both with lots of flavor."

  • "We love Kyma, however at this last visit we were not treated like other quests around us. No Chef's tasting, no bread. no olive oil and no service. We did notice that when we were asked if we wanted spring or sparkling water the waiter motioned to the bus boy thumbs down after we asked for plain water. Why spend money on designer water when you can have the best Martini's at the bar before dinner."

  • "Went for my wife's birthday. I called ahead and they arranged for us to have a nice table and a birthday dessert. We tried the $44/person menu, which included 3 spreads, 4 appetizers (tapas) style, and a whole fish. Out of everything we had, the fish alone was by far the best (European Sea Bass). The spread containing eggplant was good as well. We didn't care for the saganaki due to 'gaminess' taste (ps- cannot be flamed at table), octopus (though, it was our first time trying it; others may like it), & scallops. Next time we will stick with fish only and try may be a spread or tapas. I also had a cucumber cocktail that was pretty good. The service was excellent; she did a wonderful job and made us feel welcome. We will be back."

  • "We have eaten here many times, and this time we found that some of the items were excellent, while some were not good at all. There were 3 in our party and we ordered 3 mazes-a big mistake. The mazes are designed for two people and they do not tell you that. Some items were enough for two only like the lamb pie while other items they gave enough for three. The fried cheese was a big mistake and was horrible-loaded with oil and the worst part is they gave us an extra for short changing us on the lamb pie and eggplant dishes. The waiter never told us that but claimed he did and who are we to argue at dinner-right? Remember, unless you have even number of people in your party, go ala-carte for the odd person-not worth the money."

  • "We have visited Kyma many times - one of our favorites in Atlanta. We prefer to have lots of appetizers and wine - a great way to sample the menu. MUCH better than any "tapas" restaurant in town. A great special occasion restaurant.Kud"

  • "The server made an excellent recommendation for family style dining since there were six of us. The spreads, appetizers and fish selection was excellent! Kudos to Alinea (sp?) for a job well done, including the wine selection."

  • "Kyma had a very unique selection of menu items, specializing in Greek seafood. The Artic Char was splendid, and we also ordered lamb chops on the recommendation of our server. We were apprehensive about trying the lamb chops because we have not had the best experience - but in this case they were DELICIOUS. Wonderful desserts as well - the Greek Coffee is highly recommended. Our server, Jessica, was particularly helpful and attentive - we really appreciated everything she did for us!"

  • "I have eaten at Kyma before and wanted to have my daughter, who is about to leave for college, experience how Greek food is supposed to taste and how it is to be celebrated. The spreads were excellent; the prawns were wonderful; the roasted octopus was delightful. The watermelon salad with watermelon sorbet and feta cheese was a very pleasant surprise for the palate. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and made excellent recommendations for us. The atmosphere made us feel like we were taking a brief Greek vacation. As we were leaving, she told me how much she enjoyed having dinner at Kyma and how surprised she was that the food was so tasteful and satisfying without making you feel "stuffed." Dinner was a success!!!"

  • "We had a lovely dining experience at Kyma celebrating our anniversary. We ordered the fish dinner and it was such a special experience to share everything from start to finish. My husband adores the octopus appetizer and we also highly recommend the zucchini fritters, saganaki and the watermelon salad. Fish was outstanding along with the kale quinoa side. And, finally, the donuts with honey for dessert, along with scoop of pistachio ice cream - yum :) Restaurant was crowded, but never noisy. Great for celebrating a special occasion!"

  • "Reservations fill up quickly. We were running late to ours, I had called to let them know but it turned out we were later than I anticipated. When we got there, the hostess appeared annoyed and told us their next available take was in 2 hours or we could sit on the patio. So we sat on the patio. It was okay, our server was f friendly but did not check on us much and we had to catch his attention several times to have out water glasses refilled, it was pretty warm on the patio. Also, the other wait staff seemed confused about which dishes went to which tables. The food was OK, but not anything to race about, and probably not worth sitting on the patio or waiting 2 hours. I think I would have preferred going elsewhere for dinner."

  • "We came for dinner after an afternoon of sightseeing, so our group of five did not exactly meet the restaurant's dress code. However they set up a table for us on the patio. We went with the waitress's menu recommendation and were not disappointed. The whole fish was excellent, as was everything else. The servers were attentive. Definitely recommend."

  • "I would absolutely revisit this restaurant. The food was amazing, the service was excellent, and the wine was delicious. For those living on a budget, like me, it's not somewhere you can afford to go all the time, but it is very much worth it for special occasions. I recommend the spicy lamb pie meza!"

  • "I ate here on a Monday night, it was quite slow with a lot of staff around but recieved poor service from the host to the server. The hostess didn't even smile and say, "hi, welcome" instead just stared at us until we told her we had a reservation. After this, she fumbled around for about 3 minutes not knowing what to do. Our server was nice, however had to ask for bread, serving spoons for the Monk Fish and the server was not that attentive. The food itself was upscale Greek and quite good."

  • "We don't frequent Kyma but being a BRestaurant Group aficionado (Veni Vidi Vici is my favorite restaurant), it being June's 'Dine Around' pick we decided to make a night of it. I would not describe the evening as catastrophic, but it was just not up to expectations, especially in comparison to other BRG restaurants. It was a Sunday night and not too busy. However, although the restaurant seemed well staffed the waitstaff seemed uninterested at best. Having to wait excessively on getting water glasses re-filled, ordering drinks (even had to ask another waiter to get our waiter so we could order another round), as well as long waits from the kitchen made our experience a very forgettable one. Kyma will not be on our list to return to."

  • "Went to Kyma for a special occasion as a send off dinner for my daughter before leaving for summer camp. Waiter mixed up our order and brought me a second cocktail that I didn't want and then charged me for it. Service was extremely slow - didn't get water poured for 20 minutes. We order appetizers and asked for an additional order of tzaziki and pita and it took 30 minutes to get the tzaziki and we never got more pita. They kept bringing bread but we had the dips sampler and 6 people and wanted more pita. We got him to out our bottle of wine on the table since he was unable to be around to refill. Seems like the bussing staff couldn't help either since our requests to them were ignored. Food was good but poor service diminished experience"

  • "This is my third visit to Kyma and my last. The patio furniture is full of spots and is dirty. The food was expensive and just fair. The shrimp was supposed to be wood grilled but had very little flavor. The scallop appetizer was fair. The Lamp chops are the only delicious item on the menu. I have come to the restaurant for their lamb chops but there is nothing else pleasing to me. That is why I will not be returning. The waitress was helpful and friendly."
