A word from Kyma - Atlanta
Kyma is a contemporary Greek seafood tavern like no other. The cuisine is inventive yet approachable that is true to its Mediterranean origin. Kyma is dramatic, with a dazzling display of constellations on the deep blue ceiling, white marble columns and a bold fresh fish display. The welcoming patio, with its plush furniture and white linen curtains, offers the ideal setting to savor a glass of Greek wine and Kyma’s array of appetizers. Fresh, healthful food, attentive Greek hospitality and festive atmosphere await at Kyma. Proper dress is required. “A true labor of love. Bravo.” -The Atlanta Journal-ConstitutionContinued

Diner Reviews
  • "It was a great experience - from the robust white columns and blue bejeweled four-legged greeter to the convivial family style dining and delights for each palette! Kyma provided an elegant dining ambience pleasing to all of the senses. The food, service, and aura of the space were all wonderful... highly recommended for a special occasion or any night of the week!"

  • "This restaurant feels like it was converted from a car dealership or auto repair shop. It has a disjointed vibe to me. The food was ok but the service was weird. Semi-hostile bartender and airheaded waitress."

  • "I've been to Kyma many times and always enjoyed it. On weekends I like to dine in the smaller room because it is quieter. I had the pleasure of dining outside this time. It was a wonderful experience. I enjoyed the ambiance very much. It made it a perfect evening. My favorite appetizer is the octopus. It is the best I've had anywhere. I ordered the prawns. They were very large and prepared wonderfully. My friend ordered the snapper which he really liked. We can't wait to go back. The service is alway excellent."

  • "I've been a long time patron of Kyma, not necessarily frequent, but have never had a bad dinner or service."

  • "The patio bar at Kyma is one of my favorite places to dine -- especially to enjoy spreads, mezze and wine. Kyma is the best quality Greek food in Atlanta and I enjoy the menu because it offers something different than most any other place in town. The service on our recent visit was slow and not particularly attentive (we were seated in the dining room on this visit), which is atypical for Buckhead Life Group restaurants. The server was courteous and knowledgeable, but it seemed that perhaps the restaurant was under-staffed and he was spread too thin among tables."

  • "The roasted Royal Dorade was the best we've ever had anywhere.!"

  • "We really enjoyed our visit to Kyma. The food was wonderful, the wine list extensive and the service was very good. I love fish entrees and the list of fresh fish was great with some good suggestions from our server, Cory. The multitude of side dishes was mind boggling and again, we asked Cory for some suggestions. His suggestions were accepted and the side dishes were exceptional. Overall an exceptional dining experience. We will certainly be back."

  • "I've been on a vegetarian diet for a few weeks now and appreciated that Kyma has a vegetarian menu available upon request. I wasn't disappointed with a single item that came to our table (3 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 desserts). All Mediterranean/Greek dishes felt authentic and expertly prepared. I will go back"

  • "We always love this restaurant. The drinks are delicious. The service is impeccable. The food is even better. We had the grilled octopus, the grilled oysters, and shared the Arctic Char. The grilled oysters were just ok, they were still a little chilled so that was confusing...I would have preferred the raw oysters. The grilled octopus was deliciously prepared. The Artic Char took quite a while to come out but it was well worth it. It is such a great fish and was wonderfully recommended by our server. For dessert, we had the sampler platter of baklava and the donuts as well as the volcano cake. The donuts are amazing. We kept seeing other tables order it and had to try it ourselves. The volcano is a stable with us and is always delicious."

  • "Had dinner on a Friday night at Kyma. Our server, Haley was very knowledgeable about the menu, made great recommendations for both wine and food. Our favorite appetizers were the ahi and the beet salad. Had hoped for a better table since we made the reservations quite a while ago, but were glad we were seated in Haley's section. Overall a really nice place."

  • "I love Kyma and I RARELY write a poor review, but this visit deserved one. I usually love their food and look forward to going. My husband and I went there on a weeknight recently, got a great table, and everything went downhill from there. Our waiter was so absent. We ordered the mezze for two for dinner. Courses came out ice cold or dried out from being under a heat lamp or sitting too long. We had to chase people down to send food back. Our waiter never checked on us. The manager came by but seemed totally unaware of our issues. After we finished eating (what we eventually received was delicious). We sat for 20 or so minutes with dirty plates and dishes until the bartender finally took pity on us, cleared and got us a check."

  • "The food was not very special to me. The hummus was very dry, the pita bread soggy. The grilled octopus everyone raved about was okay, it just did not taste like seafood due to the way it was prepared. The appetizer special, grilled cheese and tomato salad was the best dish we had all night .. Our waiter Goran, was amazing though. I gave him 5 stars but he was honestly the only outstanding thing to me at this restaurant."

  • "We have, in the past, not had great experiences at this restaurant, which is surprising because of the high ratings it receives. We were pleasantly surprised when we had a delicious meal--the special appetizer was fantastic and our main courses were excellent. we will be back!"

  • "The hostess and staff were rude. I have been to kyma several times and have never been treated with such disrespect. Snobbery unforunately is not dead."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed Kyma very much. We have never been and we were a little leery of what to expect. However our waiter took the time to explain the dishes and made some excellent recommendations. We will be returning."

  • "Everything was very good. We went with the 3 spreads, 4 meze and 1 fish set menu. While we enjoyed everything very much, it was too much food. While the greater value maybe to go this way, I might opt for a la carte dining. I think 2 spreads, 2 apps and 1 fish would be plentiful. Love the roasted red pepper and feta spread. Favorite mezes were the prawn saganaki and spicy lamb pie. The dorade was delicious and well filleted. One of the best things was the leisurely pace. We took our time and ordered slowly. Nice."

  • "First off, our food took entirely too long to come out. We didn't mind at first and the manager was very apologetic. However, my lamb chops were burnt to a crisp completely inedible. I was finally able to get the attention of our waitress, she took them & said she would remove the item from our bill and bring me a replacement. When we asked for the bill the lamb chops were still listed. She finally fixed that problem. We gave her my gift card to which she said we would have to give another card for tax (never heard of that). Then she doesnt bring my gift card back even though there was still a balance. She said "theres only like a dollar or so left". When I explain that there is more left on the card she goes and gets it for me."

  • "The waiters are always knowledgeable about the food & wine list - My wife and I enjoy the opportunity to sample Greek wines not easily available in the Atlanta market - the small plates are our favorite way to eat at Kyma, copied by others, but not as well done anywhere else. On this trip we really enjoyed the scallops, prawns, spicy lamb pie, beet salad and delicious spanakopita - sharing the plates encourages conversation - leave your iphones in the car!"

  • "Food and sevice were excellent! Go for several of the small plates, like the prawns, but save room for the whole fish entree and especially deserts. Superior service including knowledge of the wine list and menu made this a special evening."

  • "Brought my 20 year old niece for her first time dining at Kyma - one of my favorite places. She loves the decor and ambiance. We shared several appetizers including Kyma's famous grilled octopus which I had raved about and then shared the Lavraki. My niece loved it all and declared the octopus the best she'd eaten. She already talks about coming back. Our server was friendly, efficient and attentive. The pace of the meal was just right. Easy to see why Kyma is a favorite."

  • "Still good but not the best experience. I thought the mussels in heavy cream was too rich and not really a healthy dish.my server, Corey, talked to me constantly.I was by myself and it was early( 5:30pm) so I guess he was trying to entertain me. I had wanted to purchase a bottle of your wonderful olive oil and told Corey ,but we both forgot. Is there any way I can pick it up while in Atlanta during the day? We don't live there but travel through often."

  • "We came here for a late dinner after getting into town. Once we told our server we would just like to share some small plates and have some wine, it seemed as though he lost all interest and we weren't as important as his other tables. The restaurant was not busy at all, it was late on a Sunday night and for the style and atmosphere, I was disappointed. Our server cleared a plate here and there but never asked how everything was or checked back until another server finally took all of our plates and reset our silverware. Besides the lack of service, that tried being redeemed at the end.. The food was absolutely amazing and we enjoyed every bite of it! Will be back next time we're in town to give it another chance."

  • "Enjoyed the variety of small plates which are plenty to fill you up with just getting too, also great array of fish available for your picking just as you walk in. Service is very friendly and nice atomosphere. Enjoyed the beluga lentils as well as the Sponokopita, both with lots of flavor."

  • "We love Kyma, however at this last visit we were not treated like other quests around us. No Chef's tasting, no bread. no olive oil and no service. We did notice that when we were asked if we wanted spring or sparkling water the waiter motioned to the bus boy thumbs down after we asked for plain water. Why spend money on designer water when you can have the best Martini's at the bar before dinner."

  • "Went for my wife's birthday. I called ahead and they arranged for us to have a nice table and a birthday dessert. We tried the $44/person menu, which included 3 spreads, 4 appetizers (tapas) style, and a whole fish. Out of everything we had, the fish alone was by far the best (European Sea Bass). The spread containing eggplant was good as well. We didn't care for the saganaki due to 'gaminess' taste (ps- cannot be flamed at table), octopus (though, it was our first time trying it; others may like it), & scallops. Next time we will stick with fish only and try may be a spread or tapas. I also had a cucumber cocktail that was pretty good. The service was excellent; she did a wonderful job and made us feel welcome. We will be back."

  • "We have eaten here many times, and this time we found that some of the items were excellent, while some were not good at all. There were 3 in our party and we ordered 3 mazes-a big mistake. The mazes are designed for two people and they do not tell you that. Some items were enough for two only like the lamb pie while other items they gave enough for three. The fried cheese was a big mistake and was horrible-loaded with oil and the worst part is they gave us an extra for short changing us on the lamb pie and eggplant dishes. The waiter never told us that but claimed he did and who are we to argue at dinner-right? Remember, unless you have even number of people in your party, go ala-carte for the odd person-not worth the money."

  • "Kyma had a very unique selection of menu items, specializing in Greek seafood. The Artic Char was splendid, and we also ordered lamb chops on the recommendation of our server. We were apprehensive about trying the lamb chops because we have not had the best experience - but in this case they were DELICIOUS. Wonderful desserts as well - the Greek Coffee is highly recommended. Our server, Jessica, was particularly helpful and attentive - we really appreciated everything she did for us!"

  • "I have eaten at Kyma before and wanted to have my daughter, who is about to leave for college, experience how Greek food is supposed to taste and how it is to be celebrated. The spreads were excellent; the prawns were wonderful; the roasted octopus was delightful. The watermelon salad with watermelon sorbet and feta cheese was a very pleasant surprise for the palate. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and made excellent recommendations for us. The atmosphere made us feel like we were taking a brief Greek vacation. As we were leaving, she told me how much she enjoyed having dinner at Kyma and how surprised she was that the food was so tasteful and satisfying without making you feel "stuffed." Dinner was a success!!!"
