Diner Reviews
  • "Kyma has brought a true touch of Greece to the North Short of Long Island. Superb, authentic food; professional, but still very warm service, and a charming interior combine to make it a great place for dinner or for brunch. Their tomato salad is a delicious Greek "Horiatiko" salad. Every fish dish seems to melt in your mouth. I have not yet found anything here that is not delicious."

  • "I have been to Kyma about 6 times and I must say this is my last time. First of all my table is never ready at the time you reserve, is this a ploy to get us to the bar? I don't mind a good drink before dinner but their bar is crowded with people eating and very tight. The bartenders are also some of the worst around. They have no clue on how to make eye contact and let you know your next. This could be blamed on how many people are eating at the bar but either way if I'm paying $30bucks for two drinks i should be treated like a customer not like they are doing me a favor. My table in the bar area for dinner had someone constantly hitting the back of my chair as well as the screaming that is going on throughout the bar area. My bill $200"

  • "Reserve a table at an early time or a late time to avoid the din of noise that bounces off the walls and ceiling. Waiters, runners, seaters race to and fro. It's like being at a racetrack. An interesting event occurred when retrieving my car from the valet: the young man who brought the car over to me neglected to put the transmission in Park or engage the emergency brake. The car started to roll down hill and if my friend did not call out," Your car" there would have been a terrible accident. Oh, the food I'd really good."

  • "Reservation not easy to get but so worth the wait! Food was delicious. Seriously, delicious. Menu diverse enough so that if you are not a fan of fish Or Greek, you will still find everything delectable! Wait staff very attentive. Overall, best dinner out in a long Time! I will definitely be returning soon!"

  • "Food + service were outstanding. Was a Thursday dinner so crazy packed + loud. Only issue was I couldn't really hear the person across the table from me but still a great time."

  • "I found the food to be very good. However while waiting at the bar for our table, the female bartender completely ignored us . I also found our waiter condescending and abrupt. We waited an extremely long time for our shared appetizer. If it weren't for the quality of the food, I would.not consider giving it a second chance."

  • "Consistently outstanding - only complaint is the cacophanous noise level!"

  • "This was my 2nd visit . Both times had the special. This time shrimp was a feta and tomato sauce. Really delicious. I would say its the best food in Nassau county, I dine out a lot. My only issue is its a bit noisy as tables are too close so you are stuck listening to your neighbors..NYC style"

  • "We dine here 1-2 times per month. The food and service are always excellent."

  • "Dining here is always a consistent, predictable hit. The food is amazing & the service attentive & caring. It's just the noise level that is very disconcertingly high!"

  • "This is a fantastic, expensive, high-end Greek restaurant in Roslyn. No Greek restaurant in Manhattan or elsewhere is better. The bar is jumping; the service wonderful and a very eclectic crowd. Take your credit card and run to eat at this place! Clearly the best Fish/Greek food on Long Island."

  • "The saganaki was out of this world, the grilled calamari was good, but not hot. It was as if they prepared both and brought out one, then the other. The branzini was very good and the steak was just food. I realize that this is not a steakhouse but I feel if it is on the menu in a good reataurant it should be good. The biggest issue was service. We went at4:30 on a Saturday. The palce was empty. Our girl took our order and disappeareed. She took our dessert order and vanished. I had to flag a busperson to get our coffees, after we finished dessert. When I asked for the check she passed our table 3 times befre she stopped to drop it off."

  • "My umpteenth return does not disappoint! Greeted and sat without a hitch. Service was friendly, efficient, attentive. Our bar drinks were a full pour, icy cold and perfectly executed. Our food was fresh, flavorful not overly salted (yipee, as I detest overly salted foods) and each dish was delicious, Greek salad, scallops, crab cakes & huge bowl of mussels thrilled us. Steamy, rich coffee rounded out our excellent experience. Bravo Kyma you know what you're doing!"

  • "We finally got a chance to eat at Kyma and it was worth the wait. The food is incredible especially the vegetable chips. The menu is great. At bit noisey but I would come back again and hopefully not have to make a reservation 3 weeks to a month in advance."

  • "Loved the restaurant!! The food was excellent, I had two issues with Kyma....One we had a 8:00 reservations they seated us at 8:50 PM..... second they brought our main courses arrived before we were even finished our appetizers. I complained to the manager and he was very nice. Brought the main courses back, and gave us dessert on the house."

  • "It was beautiful food was medium portions service was good until it started getting later and the place was packed . I had a 7 pm reservation on a Thursday night. Very loud crowd later on best for groups not a place to catch up with a friend"

  • "Kyma never disappoints, Reno & James run a top notch establisment. The food is fresh and delicious and the plating of the food is a vision of a meticulous kitchen. We sat at the bar and Kristin was our bartender/server who knew the menu and always smiled. I will be back soon...maybe tonite!"

  • "We love this place- everything is fantastic.... hats off to chef Chris he does some amazing things that go beyond great. Freshest fish and vegetables. Can't say anything is mediocre it's all superb!!!!!"

  • "Appetizers were pretty good- but the main course pink snapper had so many bones it made it barely edible. It seemed like it was not properly filleted. The service was awful. We were 4 women and the waiter paid little attention to us, and was nasty and condescending when we asked for bread. I had been here before, but never on a Thursday night. It was a mob scene, noisy and overly crowded. Fortunately, one of the other waiters knew us and came over to help with our desert choice- which was excellent, Greek yogurt and another pastry. To end the evening, the valet took nearly 20 minutes to get our car. They had misplaced keys to some of the cars. I will not be back."

  • "Where do I start, other than with "I can't wait to go back" I booked a table for a family Sunday lunch. We were a group of 11, ranging in age from 4 to 87. Some of us were fasting for Lent, and had a restricted (no meat, dairy et al) menu. Let's start with the food. Those of us fasting were "limited" to a sumptuous Greek Salad (except for the Feta), mouth watering octopus, kalamari and a seafood-linguini medley. Others enjoyed lambchops, Saganaki, and more. Everybody left extremely happy. The size of our group was not a problem, as we had other large groups around us as well, at very comfortable seating, with the look of a plush sofa. Decor was simple, elegant Mediterranean. Service was impeccable. I can't wait to return."

  • "Had a great dinner for 2. We arrived 45 minutes early & were sat with no attitude. The restaurant was popping. Great buzz inside, makes you happy to be there. Huge greek salad, perfect. Don't miss the mussels in white wine. The special of sesame seared tuna for 2 @ $40.00 was out of this world & fairly priced. The house Greek wine added to a pleasant Friday night out. This restaurant gets high kudos. The valet situation is just that, a situation! What's up with that mess? No one wants to end a the night standing in the cold or rain waiting 20 minutes for their car. The poor guys (always polite & trying hard) run between 3 lots. Not cool Besides that, we come back for a very nice evening of good food, upbeat atmosphere & great service."

  • "Perfect place to celebrate a Birthday. Place was energetic with great music, although a bit too loud in the dining area that we had to shout to hear one another. Food was delicious, especially enjoyed the tuna tartare and the Tower of chips. Our waiter was beyond attentive when we first say down, but toward the end of the meal was nowhere to be found. A definite return to place."

  • "The food is fresh and imaginative and always on point. Service has usually been good but was abysmal this trip. I don't mind flagging someone down for water but there was 2 busser's walking around giving everyone water except my table. Not to mention my wine glass was chipped and by the time he came back I didn't even care anymore. Lets chalk it up to an off night."

  • "Made res thru Open Table, explained had never been, was 34th wed anniv & if they thought there was table nicer than another, that would be the one I want. I was seated by the bar. Really? Bar wasn't busy & the restaurant wasn't half full when got there, but is that nicest part of place? On Monday? Very good waiter, Alex. Had zucchini chips, very good, too much for 2 to share. Grilled Octopus appetizer was very good, maybe under seasoned. Wife ordered Branzino, tasted great but had more bones than I would expect at a place like this. I had snapper, minimal bones but still had bones. Drinks fairly priced & a decent pour. Have had better molten choc cake & Alex said to go with something else, we didn't listen. All in all had a good time."

  • "As Mediterranean restaurants go, this place is one of the best I've experienced. So many choices of fresh seafood that it was difficult to decide what to get. They offered an eggplant appetizers, stuffed and topped with a light tomato sauce; it was fantastic. Specials that they offered were also very good. We ordered Langostino's that were butterflied and broiled; unbelievable!"

  • "I've been to this restaurant 5 times now and decided to take my children and grandchildren. The waiter was extremely attentive and the kids really enjoyed themselves. This restaurant never disappoints me. Everyone should try the Kyma chips, fried Calamari and Greek salad. The fish portions are large enough to share."
