Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I went to dinner @ K'Ya this Saturday and had a great time as always. Laurence was our server and did a great job giving us ideas of new dishes to try etc... he did a great job. Food is excellent as always"

  • "My first time to k'ya and the roof top bar. Amazing views from the rooftop. Great evening"
    Dined on 4/16/2014
  • "Seemed extra noisy and not a great table location but service, food, and 1/2 off bottles of wine made it just great"

  • "I didn't know they had 2 levels and they didn't ask me my preference when they reconfirmed my reservation. I even asked about the live music and they couldn't tell me exactly what it is. And then they assign a table for us at the basement level TOTALLY WITHOUT LIVE MUSIC! They can't even pay a little attention to detail about that? Good thing our server was good and food was good so it turned out ok."

  • "A great place for friends family. Patio on roof top needs a different way of controlling the guests. Too much of a free for all up there!"
    Dined on 4/8/2014
  • "Been going for years, also have a great a bar with the perfect sunset view on the rooftop!"

  • "I was extremely disappointed with this establishment. The noise level was so high I could barely hear myself think, my wife and I left after 15min due to the noise level. The staff were lovely though but the restaurant was horrible, my wife's signature drink was bitter and tasteless, my draft beer was warm, our starter had so much rocket on top on it I could barely make out what it was. We asked for the check imeadently. Was very disappointed for our date night."

  • "Visit K'ya once or twice a month. Always a pleasure. Great appetizers, outstanding food, service fabulous. Half price wine bottles on Sundays!"

  • "K'ya Bistro offers just the right bite size plates in the heart of Laguna's HIP District. An ideal eatery before art walk, a day of shopping or to meet up with friends in South OC. So many small plates priced under $10 it's hard to choose. My favs are their filet mignon strips, bacon wrapped dates, truffle parmesan fries, lobster risotto to name a few (plenty for sharing!). Treat yourself to their $4 desserts - flourless chocolate cake or vanilla crème brulee... yum!!"

  • "The food is worth going back for, but I would go at either an earlier or later time (our reservation was for 730pm). The noise level was almost painful, so we were about to change our minds and leave (mostly deciding by sign language it was so loud) but the volume dropped significantly when a large group left. We stayed and were glad that we did as the food was terrific."

  • "Wonderful place to have great food and great service. Can't beat the prices, taste and service. Happy hour is the best!"

  • "I've been here several times and the food is all good, but the bacon wrapped dates, brussels sprouts, rosemary chicken are dishes I'll order again. It's really loud on weekends, there must be no soundproofing at all. Everyone at our table was shouting to be heard. Waitstaff knows what they're doing. Great mojitos!"

  • "A great place for small plates. Try the lamb chops! Reasonably priced. One of our favorites. A little noisy."

  • "Food was great, atmosphere the same and the price refreshingly unpretentious!"

  • "i love this place. great food. great value... but it is very loud! and the later you go the livelier it is. go early if your not a fan of loud and later if you want a lively bar/ dining scene."

  • "My brother recommended this place ... I have been on the food business for some years, am also a food blogger and tend to be very picky ... This place was delicious! I haven't stopped talking about it ... Making plans to come come back real soon!!!"

  • "I'm not sure where all the amazing reviews came from. First of all, the atmosphere has nothing to offer. It's small & our large group was placed right at the hostess stand so that everyone waiting to be seated was right next to us, which was awkward. It was so noisy that we couldn't even talk to each other. And the food was good, but not great. Nothing I would return for. It was all kind of random tapas that didn't really flow together. I felt like I was at a buffet. The portions were okay for tapas though. As for service, the food came out quick enough, however, after telling him we had a nut allergy we still got an item with nuts. It just seemed careless. Cut your losses & go straight up to the rooftop!"

  • "Been wanting to try the place for a while. Everything is delicious and the scene is lively. Try the lobster Mac n' cheese cognac cream sauce."

  • "Way too noisy to talk with my group-we had to shout. The waitress took our order 20 minutes after we sat down and then it took almost an hour for our food to come out. Food was pretty good. The restaurant itself was very pretty inside & could be romantic."

  • "My first time at K'ya was for a group Birthday gathering and it was absolutely fabulous!! Loved the fireplace when you walk in and the cozy atmosphere you feel right away from that. We mainly ordered appetizers but 2 people had dinner items and I can say without a doubt everything put on the table was delicious. Our Server was very attentive from the start and took very good care of us. Very lively atmosphere with some live but not overly loud music in the Lobby. If it would of been too loud, that could of ruined our night since we were very close to the entrance, but it was fine. Overall a GREAT time! I will definitely return and so will my friends. Kudos to Owners and Management!"

  • "Let me start by saying K'ya has my favorite go to place for a fun dinner out with friends or for a business meal The food has always been fantastic. Until now. Perhaps this is a fluke but the main entre small plates were terrible. I always get the piccata tilapia as one of my choices so I know it's very good. It was incredibly fishy and had a hardened cheese (cheese?) layer on top. Not the lightly breaded piccata I know and love. We ate a few bites. we also had the grilled chicken breast with lime sauce. Also not good. The chicken was rubbery. It seemed to be only the main dishes. The sides on the main plates and salads were fine. It's hard to write this because I have so loved K'ya but something has gone terribly wrong."

  • "We went to K'ya for an anniversary dinner and were not disappointed! Great food, unique atmosphere. The tables are a bit crowded, but we had requested a table by a window, so that wasn't a problem for us. It was a bit loud. I think the acoustics aren't great because people weren't being overly loud or obnoxious. Loved the menu - lots of options that allowed us to pick and choose, try several items without overeating. We will go back!"

  • "We were the first seated since I had made my reservation on-line. We had a window seat and got to watch the rain come down and PCH as we were sipping great wine. I was there to treat my good friend to her birthday dinner. We ordered 3 appetizer which were all delicious and then decided to order the skirt steak. Amazing and very healthy! We ordered a few glasses of Bogle chardonnay… exquisite and oaky! Our waiter, Casey, was attentive, friendly and made sure were had everything we needed. I am never disappointed when I come here!"

  • "We recently had a relative visit us in Laguna Beach and decided to take him to K'ya Bistro because of very positive experiences we have had in the past at this establishment.Unfortunately for everyone the food and the service is not what it once was. Our visit was on a Tuesday night and on a positive note for the restaurant they were pretty busy. My fear is this once very enjoyable establishment has let some key employees go or they simply have stopped worrying about the food and service relying on a reputation they built in the past."

  • "K'ya is a comfortable, relaxing, friendly restaurant with good food, excellent service and a great Happy Hour!"
    Dined on 2/26/2014
  • "Seriously, the food was as advertised … outstanding. Chicken Marsala was excellent, not too garlicky. The sides were big enough to share and we walked any very satisfied. The only thing that left us wanting us the level of noise in the place. It was hard to hear conversation in a normal voice. We noticed, however, the lobby area from where the bar was operating was much quieter and worth a shot."

  • "come to the happy hour, 4:30 to 5:30 every, and you can eat very good food and drink good wine for less than 20 $!"
    Dined on 2/23/2014
  • "The food was very nicely prepared, and the service was perfect. We sat in the corner high table by the door, and were unfortunately bothered by the door being constantly left open as the wait staff went in and out to serve customers at the outdoor tables. My suggestion would be to put that door on an automatic closing mechanism. Thank you for considering that."

  • "We're from Baltimore, Md and went here on a recommendation from a person we met at a neat B&B, Casa Laguna. The food choices were phenomenal and we really liked their small, but very good value portions. This enabled us to share three "small" plates and enjoy a variety of the great food. The noise level is higher than we like, but we were able to talk across the table. We would love to have a restaurant like this in Baltimore."

  • "I absolutely love coming here for intimate dinners, group gatherings, and happy hour outings. The food is always fresh, especially the fish that is changed seasonally. The truffle mac & cheese and lobster risotto are delicious and I have to order them every time. The wine list is also quite extensive and the wait staff is knowledgable with recommending pairings. And after dinner head up to the rooftop bar for a night cap with a view of the ocean!"

  • "This is a vibrant restaurant serving good food at a reasonable price. The small plate idea means that you have a meal that does not totally over face you when it arrives. Portions are more than adequate and are well presented. We shared a dessert and there was plenty for 2. The banana & pecan bread pudding was amazing."
