Went on a saturday w/ 2 teenagers and & mom. Saturday night reservation was honored on time. We were seated and bread immediately arrived. Apps and drinks ordered efficiently and the waiter was quite friendly and attentive. We had fried calamari (standard - but good, with batter not too oily) followed by house pasta (my duck ragout was very good and the older girls fresh tomato-based sauce had several plump plum tomatoes well cooked - meaning still firm on the outside and gushy on the inside). We could have lingered longer, but with kids, at the end of a long day - we were in and out in <1 hour. It looks like the main room has smaller more intimate tables - but for what we wanted, we were well fed and well attended to.

Kuleto's is a favorite--have eaten there dozens of times-- but once in a while it disappoints, which it did Sat. night. The menu wasn't its best selection--not enough variety or enough to my taste, i suppoe. The peach and frisee appetizer wasn't very tasty, the combinations just didn't work-- although the caesar was its usual delicious self. The beef gnocchi didn't appeal to me but my companion liked them well enough. The service was spotty, the food was spotty and the menu lacking this visit. Based on this visit we chose to go elsewhere with friends next week when we attend theatre. I'll come back, but not that soon. I wonder sometimes if their guaranteed clientele due to location and tourists lets it coast.

My family and I had tickets to go see a play Saturday night so we decided to try Kuleto's at 6pm. We had brought a nice bottle of wine and asked the waiter to decant it for us so it could open up but he didn't get around to it for 25 minutes when he finally came by to ask if we'd like appetizers. I reminded him we we're on a time schedule. He opened the wine and took our order. At 7:05 PM I called him over to ask where our entree's where and explained to him that if they weren't done now to please cancel the order. He came back with 2 of the entree's and said the other 2 would be out in a minute. Wow, 2 of us had to watch the other 2 eat! I wish I could tell you about dessert but we didn't get any! Absolutely worst service I've ever had

I spend a fortune for a miserable meal. The pasta was over done the dishes were so poor from the presentation to the spices. What a terrible evening for my out of town guest. Go somewhere else. I have eaten at Kuletta's server times but no more! EJS

For 25 years Kuleto's has remained one of my favorite places. However, this dinner was not up to par. The calamarri was not crispy, the gnocchi was too heavy with cream sauce and bitter with the added radiccico. It seems that they changed their recipe for the foccicca bread which was so good before. The special procuitto was very tasty. It was an off night but I will return anyway.

Kuletos was nice enough to accommodate us arriving 15 minutes late due to traffic. However the food was very substandard. Very bland. My husband was given the wrong dish and it was ice old. They remade his dish and it was dry with very over cooked chicken. My risotto was too mushy. Just no care taken with the food.

We ordered halibut which was overcooked, sent it back, and a smaller portion came out which was also dry. We suspect the fish was frozen and not fresh as advertised. On the bright side, our waiter was very accommodating and suggested the pappardelle that was fabulous. Stick with the Italian dishes at this restaurant.

Marvelous luncheon dining experience, bringing me back to when I worked in the City, and used to come here more often. The food was fantastic, the service attentive and entertaining, and it was a very pleasant dining experience! The fried calamari is still great, and the luncheon meals we had, chicken piccata lunch special, the burger, and the salmon lunch special were all delicious, as were the salads and desserts that accompanied the lunch specials. This visit reinforced my memory of why I have always enjoyed this restaurant through the years. Lovely wine and champagne choices by the glass, so we could all have exactly what we wanted with our lunches.

Dined on a Thursday evening, everything we ordered was delicious and service outstanding. Previous visits here, I felt like being treated like a tourist where the staff seemed apathetic and I avoided dining here at dinner since. But the bread, salumis, grilled radicchio, fillet mignon and braised short ribs were on the spot. Our waiter, Michael, performed very professionally and kept us informed. So I can say that Kuleto's has really improved their service and the food quality is top notch.

Both my wife and I had a wonderful experience at Kuleto's. Having only a 4 night stay in SFO we wanted to make the most out of our dining and Kuleto's delivered. From the charming atmosphere to the prompt attentive wait staff it made for a highly enjoyable experience. Our meals were very good and priced accordingly. I ordered ravioli. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the filling was bursting with flavor. We will be back next year.

Since 1990 or 91 our family has chosen Kuleto's as our go-to restaurant, but after Tuesday night's experience, we may never go again. I have to say the service and the food were just abominable. Perhaps five dishes in my life have I sent back but we sent back two this night. The server was awful, and even after asking for bread four times, it was as if we put him out to get the bread. The duck was spoiled, the veal scallopine had some odd sauce, the martini watery and warm, and the prices reflect the tourist crowd. In fact, perhaps that is the problem. It is just too close to Union Square the the Powell cable car-- they can fill the restaurant whether the food is good or not.

We choose Kuleto's because of it's proximity to the BART stop at Powell, making it an easy commute and a great place to meet visiting family who want to see Union Square. Food has always been good, prices a tad higher than we like to pay so we limit to occasional visits.

The caprese starter was very good, as was the gelato for dessert. My wife's halibut was tasty but a little dry. My duck breast was done perfectly, though a few pieces were a little tough. But portion size was ample. Fingerling potatoes are not very good. My prosecco was flat however, and I could not find the waiter immediately. Stay away from the kitchen side, as it is very noisy, to the point where it seems intentional!!!!
