This was the second time in a week that I was at Kuleto's. My business associate was impressed and the service was slow, but good. This time, with my wife we were treated by our waiter Alex like we were a bother, an interruption to his evening. When we asked about the special he stated he didn't know, but made no effort to find out. Then, when we use our dining privliges afforded us by Passport International he lost his mind, slamming the Passport card back in the table he mutter something about us being 'a passport table' like it was a disease. There are hundreds of great places to spend you food dollars in San Francisco, I would recommend another one.

I came here to celebrate my 18 bday! When we got there we were early for our reservation and they were very accommodating and sat us early. Once we were seated, though, we were not approached by a server for 5 to 10 min. He was very unfriendly and unwelcoming. He made it clear in his body language and lack of attention that he was not happy to have a table of four young girls. I was so disappointed that I tipped poorly, which I rarely do. Working at a 5 star restaurant myself I expected much better service. In my opinion if you are working in a high quality restaurant you should be giving the best service to all of your tables, even ones who are young and don't look like big spenders. This was my first and will be my last visit to Kuletos.

The food was very good but our experience was tarnished by a very pretentious and non-attentive waiter. Worst waiter ever at a nice restaurant!!! Did not pay any attention to us. We were a party of 6 and we were not even offered grated cheese or pepper like everyone around us. Of course a manager never came to our table.

Last time I dined at Kuletos was after a presentation--essentially a job audition. Having been there before (and having a few hours to kill before my flight home), I sat by the fireplace and ate an early dinner. I had the veal, which never disappoints. Went back yesterday for that very dish, but was tempted away from it by a Monterrey halibut special. It was the most delicious halibut...and there's a big bump to overcome with someone who came for a favorite. I did have the beans replaced with spinach, the side for the veal. Delicious!

Had reservations on Sat night and was told to wait at the bar . Was ignored by the server who finally showed up to take our drink orders and she was crabby and unpleasant- as if she was over-worked and we were an imposition. When eventually seated in the dining area adjacent to the hotel lobby were were greeted by a pleasant young woman, who was clearly overly busy with too many tables to serve. There were 2 medium size groups who were most likely convention people. She spent way more time with them (perhaps expecting a better tip?) Beyond the service the food was "meh". I wouldn't recommend or go back.

We had two hours to kill before needing to get to the theater. We informed our waiter of this and he did an outstanding job of stringing our service along to fill the two hours. We waited a bit between courses but this was the intention. Worked perfectly. As for the food? My wife was brought the wrong salad that she ordered but the salad she was brought (spinach) was excellent. The lady who brought the salad realized her mistake but it was all good. Wife had the halibut special that was excellent. I had the filet Mignon. I ordered medium rare but got the steak medium. It was still very good. I find getting my steak cooked the way I like to be a rarity at any restaurant. Still, overall, a very nice dining experience.

Through the years I have visited San Francisco many times for pleasure and with every visit I have dined at Kuleto's. It was recommended by a business associate. This restaurant continues its high quality of food and ambiance. I ordered one of the specials, halibut. It was nicely prepared and cooked just right. I look forward to my next visit to San Francisco and Kuleto's.

Sorry to say but the quality of the food here is just not what it used to be but the price keeps going up. I had the Halibut special, perhaps the portion was 3 oz, overly dry and salty. All I tasted was salt. The service was wonderful. The bread basket - something we looked forward too also seemed a bit stale.

Presentation of food was fine, quality of food was good but not distinguished - just average, but one would expect far more from this iconic SF restaurant & at these price points. Our waiter was not the most professional - friendly but disappeared for long periods, didn't clear the table between courses, or stay aware of wine needs - which is puzzling since this boosts profits and tip levels. Too many other options to bother going back.

Kuleto's is one of those places that you always want to return to. The food is great and the wait staff is attentive but not overly so. The only negatives I could possibly come up with are that they share restrooms with the hotel next door, which is a little inconvenient and the booths near the front (which are very comfortable) are noisy because of their proximity to the bar.

Really disapointed!!!! had a 6pm reservation for 6pm. The restaurant was less than half full. When seated we waited for 20 minutes before we stopped a bus boy to find our waiter. And. when the waiter finally showed, he couldn't have cared less about our experience. Once he took our drink orders he disappeared again and it took 20 minutes more to get 4 glasses of wine... Waiter had zero personality and made us feel he was doing us a favor. Waited for our food for another 40 minutes... Outrageous.... When we finally asked where our orders were.. (another waiter, our was MIA) he responded that their were three orders ahead of ours... The experience ruined our evening. This restaurant need serious management.. What a disgrace...
