We enjoyed our pre-matinee lunch, as always. However, our waiter was less than friendly or attentive. He often neglected requests and seemed annoyed. This is unusual for Kuleto's but it seemed to early in the day for this kind of aloofness on the part of the waiter.

Our table was ready when we arrived and we were seated immediately. They had some lovely specials but we had salad, minestrone soup (which was excellent) short ribs and veal scaloppini. All dishes were very nice. It got busy as time went on but we never felt hurried. Felt we could stay as long as we want. Location of course is great!! We often make it back here when we are in San Francisco.

This is an excellent upscale California/Italian downtown restaurant. The physical aspect of the restaurant is good, the food is flavorful and rich. The service as the first two diners for lunch, was excellent. On the basis of a business lunch, I'm going back. The wife looked at the menu and said, " A little too California/Italian fusion and we went elsewhere that evening, but we'll go back again on my call. Especially if they remove the snivel about the surcharge for providing employee benefits to the staff. Expensive, but totally appropriate given the neighborhood.

We ate here 21 years ago - our last vacation to the city. Happily, we found Kuletos to be just as great now as it was back then. Service was attentive and food fabulous. My son and I had the pasta special and my husband had the halibut special. The caprese salad totally wonderful!

I went to Kuleto with my husband for dinner. He ordered the duck breast and I had the shrimp and scallop risotto. The duck breast was very tender and delicious. Sadly, the risotto was mediocre. The rice didn't seem to be well cooked since it was still hard, but the shrimp and scallop was pretty good. We ordered cherry cream brulee for dessert. Upon trying it, I noticed that the cherry is missing, so I asked the waiter. He told me that it's not cherry season anymore, so they ran out of it. Instead he served us a regular cream brulee. I wasn't really happy about that. He could have told us at the time when we ordered it and not after being asked. I wouldn't have ordered it if I knew I was gonna get a regular cream brulee.

Went on a saturday w/ 2 teenagers and & mom. Saturday night reservation was honored on time. We were seated and bread immediately arrived. Apps and drinks ordered efficiently and the waiter was quite friendly and attentive. We had fried calamari (standard - but good, with batter not too oily) followed by house pasta (my duck ragout was very good and the older girls fresh tomato-based sauce had several plump plum tomatoes well cooked - meaning still firm on the outside and gushy on the inside). We could have lingered longer, but with kids, at the end of a long day - we were in and out in <1 hour. It looks like the main room has smaller more intimate tables - but for what we wanted, we were well fed and well attended to.

Kuleto's is a favorite--have eaten there dozens of times-- but once in a while it disappoints, which it did Sat. night. The menu wasn't its best selection--not enough variety or enough to my taste, i suppoe. The peach and frisee appetizer wasn't very tasty, the combinations just didn't work-- although the caesar was its usual delicious self. The beef gnocchi didn't appeal to me but my companion liked them well enough. The service was spotty, the food was spotty and the menu lacking this visit. Based on this visit we chose to go elsewhere with friends next week when we attend theatre. I'll come back, but not that soon. I wonder sometimes if their guaranteed clientele due to location and tourists lets it coast.

My family and I had tickets to go see a play Saturday night so we decided to try Kuleto's at 6pm. We had brought a nice bottle of wine and asked the waiter to decant it for us so it could open up but he didn't get around to it for 25 minutes when he finally came by to ask if we'd like appetizers. I reminded him we we're on a time schedule. He opened the wine and took our order. At 7:05 PM I called him over to ask where our entree's where and explained to him that if they weren't done now to please cancel the order. He came back with 2 of the entree's and said the other 2 would be out in a minute. Wow, 2 of us had to watch the other 2 eat! I wish I could tell you about dessert but we didn't get any! Absolutely worst service I've ever had

For 25 years Kuleto's has remained one of my favorite places. However, this dinner was not up to par. The calamarri was not crispy, the gnocchi was too heavy with cream sauce and bitter with the added radiccico. It seems that they changed their recipe for the foccicca bread which was so good before. The special procuitto was very tasty. It was an off night but I will return anyway.

Kuletos was nice enough to accommodate us arriving 15 minutes late due to traffic. However the food was very substandard. Very bland. My husband was given the wrong dish and it was ice old. They remade his dish and it was dry with very over cooked chicken. My risotto was too mushy. Just no care taken with the food.

A business dinner here with a colleague from China - first timer in SF! Heard from another in our group he'd been eating here for 25 years (Kuleto's has been in business 28+ years). The food was good - great flavors, rich in texture and a wonderful melding of different types of food, BUT the service was dismal. We placed our order - we weren't rush after cocktail service to do that - walking in the door to cocktail delivery about 20 min. From cocktail to dinner order 25 min.... Dinner delivered in 25 min. From dinner to dessert - a different story altogether! 30 min. to get menus, 20 min. to place the order and 20 min. for ONE heirloom tomato / mint sorbet to be delivered! Unbelievable!!!!! (And, embarrassing for us with our guest...)

We ordered halibut which was overcooked, sent it back, and a smaller portion came out which was also dry. We suspect the fish was frozen and not fresh as advertised. On the bright side, our waiter was very accommodating and suggested the pappardelle that was fabulous. Stick with the Italian dishes at this restaurant.

Marvelous luncheon dining experience, bringing me back to when I worked in the City, and used to come here more often. The food was fantastic, the service attentive and entertaining, and it was a very pleasant dining experience! The fried calamari is still great, and the luncheon meals we had, chicken piccata lunch special, the burger, and the salmon lunch special were all delicious, as were the salads and desserts that accompanied the lunch specials. This visit reinforced my memory of why I have always enjoyed this restaurant through the years. Lovely wine and champagne choices by the glass, so we could all have exactly what we wanted with our lunches.

Dined on a Thursday evening, everything we ordered was delicious and service outstanding. Previous visits here, I felt like being treated like a tourist where the staff seemed apathetic and I avoided dining here at dinner since. But the bread, salumis, grilled radicchio, fillet mignon and braised short ribs were on the spot. Our waiter, Michael, performed very professionally and kept us informed. So I can say that Kuleto's has really improved their service and the food quality is top notch.
