We have frequented Kuleto's .... Sat. night was NOT a nice experience. The minestrone soup was bitter and seemed to have all the leftovers from the night before thrown in (soggy broccoli). The Romaine salad was dry and the anchovies were clumped together in one bunch. My husbands' short ribs were dry and stringy. The tiramisu was fantastic as usual, but the whole bill was 200.00 and we were really disappointed. Our waiter didn't seem to care about our table...more concerned with getting the Giant's score. This will be our last time to go there. We only had one night in the City and there are so many terrific places to eat. We cheated ourselves by being loyal.

We were in town for my birthday and booked here as we were staying in the hotel. But the service wasn't great they were all more aware of some VIP table next to us everyone stopped by there and took extra care of them not once did they wish me happy bday was difficult to get attention for drinks, etc..wouldn't recommend for special events and the food was good but if you go I wouldn't expect the best service.

My wife and I had a relatively late dinner there on a Friday night after a lecture. Our food was wonderful. We have had many many meals in Italy and we were not disappointed in Kuleto's. The food was all made in house, the bread alone was worth the trip. I had the duck Bolognese, my wife had the seafood saffron risotto, both were excellent.

Great location just off the square! Food was great. It was a Friday night so they were busy and a little loud--but mostly loud near the bar. We were seated in the adjoining room. It is quite nicely California casual/chic! We had been out of Northern California for about 10 years and came back to live in Sonoma County the past year. Asked friends for the restaurant to meet my brother at in the City. The vast majority said Kuleto's. A great place.

The server was great; but the food was very slow to come out (30+ minutes after my salad plate was removed), even though there were empty tables. There was not an explanation for the delay. Food was good, but not as spectacular as I had had in the past.

After 6 visits to Kuleto's I'm still a raving fan. I am VERY particular about food and everything here is stunning. They brine their own olives. Make their own breads. Smoke/cure their own charcuterie. Every dish that comes out of the exhibition kitchen is top notch. It has become my "go to" spot when in the City. It's a bit loud but, hey, it's a bistro. Perching at the counter watching the chefs is a treat. Very well done Kuleto decor, of course. Just go.

We shared the calamari appetizer - delicate and delicious; and the beet salad - perfectly dressed and sweet and peppery perfection. The duck pappardelle was ok, but didi not have the duck flavor I was expecting. The special pork linguine was delicious - exceptionally spiced with mediterranean flavors. The fig cake with gelato was the perfect ending - Sooo good! We only get there once a year, but look forward to it every time!

Although I had made a reservation ahead of time, when I showed up (5 minutes before my reservation) I was told that they weren't seating in the dining area because they were expecting a big dinner crowd and that I would have to eat at the bar. Once seated in the bar area, we ordered our food and bread. It wasn't until a table next to us arrived and their waiter read them the specials did we realize that there were any specials (our waiter, Jerry, had not informed us of the specials). This was quite upsetting because they sounded pretty good, and I would have ordered one of the specials had I known there were any. Additionally, whereas we got a couple pieces of bread at our table, the one next to us got a full bread basket.

My family and I love eating at Kuleto's when we are in the City. It is comfortable and the food is delicious. At our most recent dinner there, one of our family members was delayed for quite a long time on very important business. It could not be helped. The rest of the family got started with dinner. Our waitress was infinitely patient about the delay and the way we staggered from course to course ordering them one at a time. She was great! This is a very convenient restaurant to Union Square - just a great place to end the day and relax and unwind. The food is excellent. The gnocci was fluffy and not heavy. The ravioli was divine!!

Waiter was clueless. He read the specials off a list. He mentioned a Ravioli and I ordered it. When my meal arrived, he brought me a Linguini dish. When I told him I ordered the Ravioli special, his response was; "I read the lunch specials. No Ravioli special for dinner so I brought you a Linguini instead. I re ordered a Ravioli off the menu. When it arrived, everyone else in my party had finished the dinner. The Ravioli was marginal at best. No apology, no concession, no service and no tip. Never again will we dine at Kuletos.

The food was excellent but the service was terrible. We received our salad before receiving our drinks, any bread and water. We were sharing the salad and received no plates when it was brought. We were a party of four and had a very nice dinner. Table was ready at reserved time. Waiter was very helpful and fun. My food was delicious. Had a great Caesar salad that had anchovies and the pizzeta which had roasted garlic and blue cheese. My husband said his butternut squash raviolis weren't very flavorful. My son liked the minestrone soup and his raviolis. Nice decor, a little noisy, and over all good food. Would recommend.

I ususally never write reviews but this was a disappointment and at this price point I think Kuleto's needs one. Still good ambience. A drink with "bar bites" might still be a good option. Dinner? Not so much! Problems with early seating. Two different hosts. One was rude. The waiter became argumentative when we criticized our meal. Petrale sole for $30. Rubbery, overcooked, bland, on a bed of too-al-dente haricots verts (couldn't cut OR spear them!) Not even convinced that the fish was "Petrale"! With drinks our dinner was $100 and I'd expect careful service and a really nice meal for that! This was a go-to place for us over the years but it has become a tourist trap. Not for natives!! Stick with the pasta if you must!

We've been to Kuleto's a number of times and have had consistently good service. Casual - without being too casual - you wouldn't be out of place coming in after a day of sightseeing or on your way to the theater. The food has been very good, served hot on each visit, and doesn't take forever to get to your table after you order. I do recommend reservations, especially on the weekends. The staff are all very pleasant and attentive.

We chose Kuletos because of its location close to ACT. The service was fine and we had no trouble making curtain. I had linguini with clams and my friend had the risotto. Both were adequate but nothing special. At $25.00 each they were pricey and I won't be racing back to dine there again. Maybe that is just "big city" pricing but I expected something a bit more special in preparation and taste for that price.

I have eaten at Kuleto's many times and everything was wonderful. Unfortunately last night was not the case. We were promptly seated and served water and breads. Our waiter was fantastic! He took our order for cocktails and an appetizer and let us know about the specials. Cocktails, appetizer & first course came out just as expected and were quite tasty. The food to this point was really good. Then we waited over 30 minutes for our dinners to arrive. When the main courses finally arrived, they were cold. My husband ordered the duck breast and the gravy had started to congeal. We spoke with our waiter and he returned the dishes to the kitchen. Ended up with just dessert & coffee. Maybe next time....
