  • "The place was energetic and we were greeted and serviced with attention. The guys do a good job!! I went it late in a cold night so the place wasn't that busy. The food was just ok. I had the butter squash soup and found it to be salty and too watery for what I'm used to. I just had the slider and it was just good. Nothing memorable. Good to go with a group of friends for some bites. "

  • "Still a good spot....quality food...good drinks....great service. But it used to be great across the board. Now drinks seem to be a bit more watered down....some of the entrees you're like, ".....seriously?!", while others are phenomenal. And they took one of the best desserts my family and I have ever had off of the menu. Service is still spectacular, but the complete package/wow factor is diminishing. Still recommended, though."

  • "Came her for brunch and had great service, good food and an overall fun atmosphere! And there was a Bloody Mary Bar--score!"

  • "My second visit in a week--you can't beat the pre-theatre $25 three course meal. It is hard to characterize this place. But the food is good; the service can be a bit spotty; but staff are friendly and maybe a bit ditzy in a charming sort of way."

  • "I went will a couple friends and the bartender made us a couple of delicious cocktails, not even on the menu! The staff was so sweet, we were greeted like royalty and treated so nicely at the bar. The endive salad and lobster risotto squares are amazing appetizers too! Definitely check this place out!"

  • "KTCHN has good American food in and a stylish decor. They're adjacent to the Out Hotel in NY."

  • "This place has awesome brunch....highly recommend pretty much anything on the menu! I had the please working with Fabio, who was extremely attentive and professional."

  • "We had a very enjoyable meal with good food and attentive staff."

  • "I have eaten here a dozen or so times--the service has gotten much better. But it is really a quirky place. You can't beat the value for the food--especially the pre-theatre set meal. The menu has just been overhauled, making it even better. It is too far west--not its fault. It is in a hotel that is so over the top. Hard to tell who stays there. The dining room and bar are neither ugly nor attractive. I will eat here again, but it may be one of the stranger places I regularly eat at."

  • "This is a lovely restaurant with delicious fresh ingredients and an innovative menu that changes to delight. The staff are friendly and clearly hopeful that you will enjoy your dining experience. There is no better place to dine in the theater district than KTCHN!!"

  • "I needed a place to meet a friend for dinner -- I read the reviews on this restaurant and decided to try it out. This place was perfect! Two for one happy hour. Great menu with a nice price fix option as well. The food was yummy and the decor of the place was cute. I would definitely go back!"

  • "My dish was good, my wife's was just OK to bad. Like other reviews there does seem to be a bit of a lack of understanding what service means. Example: our waiter Fabio came back to our table twice to introduce himself w/o knowing we already ordered and spoke to him. HUH? REALLY?, Not good. PLUS...NO BREAD?????? And no refills on the iced tea. Low rent. The food was only acceptable with very small portions but also relatively small prices to be fair. Wine was WAY overpriced. Overall, we don't recommend and will not be returning."

  • "For $25 (inclusive), we were served mimosas for 90 minutes and a selection of an entree (I think the menu limited selection to about 5 dishes). The food was okay, nothing to write home about. While I could have used a quicker refill on the mimosas, for $25 and a drag show (that started about 12:30-12:45pm), it was worth the money. I would return again, as it was super easy to get a reservation only the day before."

  • "My date and I shared a winter salad to start. Not much on the portions but a pleasant start to the dinner. My date had salmon and I had the bbq meatloaf. The green beans were al dente just the way I like them. And creamy mashed potatoes tasted real. Meatloaf is a single serving (kind of like a hamburger). It was properly seasoned and moist. The salmon was done just as requested. Fish was fresh and also properly seasoned. Side of vegetables was tasty. Overall, the restaurant was a tad noisy but it was prime pre theater dinner time and the place was full. Service was attentive and not overbearing. It's pricey but it's obvious prepares what it serves with care."

  • "I have been to KTCHN before and the food and service was great. I dined there again on March 29, 2014 and unfortunately did not have a similar experience. The food was great again, however the service was abysmal. We arrived 20 minutes or so before our reservation and was told that they could not seat us until our reservation time even though the restaurant was empty. After saying something they sat us reluctantly. We were asked by 3 different people what type of water we wanted and it took about 20 minutes for them to take our drink order and another 15 min or so to bring the drinks. It took forever for the appetizers to arrive and the meal followed so quickly after the appetizers. The food is the only thing holding restaurant together."

  • "Had a quiet bar room table. I could come here just for the vinegar french fries. The meatloaf was over cooked."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "The atmosphere was excellent. But the drinks were wayyyyyyy overpriced and the food wasn't even that great. It took us an hour to get our main entrees just to not enjoy it. A simple vodka drink was almost $20."

  • "Really liked the atmo and modern decor. Amusing waiter, although we just made it to our play so he wasn't totally on top of timing. Excellent cheeseburger. Friends liked their fish too. A nice change from one of very few other nearby options, West Bank Cafe, which is good too."

  • "The first time we visited, the music was so loud and energetic we couldn't concentrate. We spoke with staff and it seems we were listened to. Music was energetic--that's fine--but no so loud we couldn't enjoy the food and company. Thanks!"

  • "Overall we had a good meal at KTCHN. The recommended comfort dishes, the meatloaf and the mac/cheese, were good but not great. The chicken and steak were very good but again, nothing very memorable. The wine list is a bit thin. The room is very nice and the tables are comfortable and have good privacy."

  • "The food's gopod, the prices are not outrageous, but the best thing going for Ktchn is the location. It may be out of the way, but there's not much else there and there are two theaters nearby--also out of the way--one block in each direction."

  • "The food was great and they served just the right portion."

  • "We had a memorable experience at KTCHN that we will be sure to do again. High fives, fist bumps or whatever to Mark who went over and beyond to make sure that we were welcome and comfortable. We left very happy and will be sure to return. Always looking for a great pre theater restaurant and this is it!"

  • "We had a very good meal and enjoyed the benefit of a special $25 3 course meal special. The important thing was the food was excellent. The sstaff did all they could to assure that everything went well. They responded fully to all questions. All in all a very good meal and we intend to go back."

  • "The third was the charm. They seemed to have figured out how to get this right. The food was perfect and the service faultless - I live in the neighborhood and this ad hoc has become a destination for out-of-townersand locals a like."

  • "my friend and I ate here for brunch on a sunday on our most recent trip to new york city.the food was excellent but the service was very slow. It took almost 20 minutes for us to just get our check and it wasn't that busy. Just be mindful of how much time you have as we did a lot of waiting. Food was excellent though !!"

  • "This restaurant was an unusual experience for Manhattan. It was not noisy; the tables were't crowded together; the service was friendly and efficient, and the food was good but not expensive."

  • "Always a good experience dining here--whether in the informal front room with the large windows overlooking 42nd street or in the more subdued lighting in the back dinning room. Service is attentive and helpful."

  • "I went to Ktchn for Sunday Brunch because I saw the $25 endless Mimosa promotion (entree with...endless Mimosas!). Then I learned of the $10 Bloody Mary bar. SO worth it! :) Definitely finding any excuse to go back for that alone! The drag show was also good. The performers were both funny and good singers. I liked the songs they selected. Great brunch with the girls! Don't bother with the cheddar bacon omelette though."

  • "For those of us that have season tickets to the Off-Broadway theaters along 42nd street it is nice to have a new choice for pre-theater dinner besides the old standbys West Bank Cafe and Chez Josephine. The crostini are great!"

  • "Loved the food....Risotto was to die for.!!! I had a reservation for 645pm on a Friday and had plans to see a show at 8pm. Waiter (Paul S.) asked if we needed to be out at a certain time, we told him 745. Did not disappoint, got there on time. Deff. coming back in the near future."

  • "We love to go to KTCHN when we have tickets for Signature Theater. It's always a treat and not "pricey." This time we had the restaurant week menu which was selections from the regular menu. I loved the fish tacos for appetizer; the risotto for entree, and the lemon tart for dessert was fabulous. since we come early we also partake of happy hour at the bar (2 glasses of wine for $10) and one of those glasses can be brought to the table. Service was good and on time--they knew we had theater tickets. They were also nice in bending the restaurant-week rules for dessert for one of our guests. All-in-all, a very pleasant dining experience."
