A word from Kristalbelli
With the rapidly growing popularity of Kpop around the world, the most successful entertainment mogul in Asia, JY Park has taken Korean barbecue/lounge upscale and hip, anticipating to make it the place where entertainment meets exquisite dining.

At the heart of the concept is a custom-grill made of a crystal placed on the belly of the ancient-tale character with infrared heat that will produce higher temperatures than charcoal or gas grills. Downdraft machines are promised to eliminate smoke so you don't go home smelling like grilled meat; chef Kay promises finest ingredients ranging from rib eye and pork belly to scallops to market vegetables. A separate lounge menu serves small plates.

The bi-level venue has private rooms specially intended for any type or size of private events.

Diner Reviews
  • "I was really impressed with the restaurant. The waiters were all very well mannered and occasionally checking in to make sure that everything was good. The food of course was outstanding!"

  • "Ingredients are fresh and wonderful, seasoning is distinct, menu options are varied and interesting. The "crystal belly" tabletop grills are both fun and effective--you can really control the doneness of meat, for instance. Would definitely go back."

  • "The intimate dining quarters allowed for immediate tension by staff whenever needed but also spacious enough where your table was truly your space allowing for spirited and intimate conversations. The delicious food was beautifully displayed and came with an abundance of sides and additions which will ensure no opportunity to leave hungry or unsatisfied."

  • "Favorite Korean restaurant and one of my favorite places for steaks in general. Excellent service--feels like you have your own private waiter. Great also for entertaining guests."

  • "My friends and I went to Kristalbelli with a Travelzoo deal voucher and let me say, the food was very good but not your typical KBBQ. It seemed more of a Steak option with Korean-ish sides. The meat was great--I recommend the Wagyu. Portion sizes were small but typical of your more upscale eating establishments. Their Ho-ddeuk dessert was very good--very reminiscent of my childhood days eating it. Ron--our waiter was amazing, funny and created an overall awesome experience for us."

  • "Service very attentive. Food arrived promptly and was delicious. The staff was friendly to our 2 children (11 and 7 years old) with no attitude. A bit noisy, but our family enjoyed the Korean BBQ experience--every last bit of food was devoured! (Note: a bit challenging to find the place--difficult to locate due to small sign)"

  • "We never had Korean food before, but we really enjoyed our lunch here. The rib eye melted in my mouth, it was that good. Enjoyed the popcorn ice cream too!"

  • "My first time at this establishment and I was greeted at the door. I arrived a little early for my reservation but my table was ready right on time. The waiter was very polite and knowledgeable. He made sure me and lady were okay. Food was great. It was made in front of us using the barbecue in the middle of the table."

  • "The multi-course meal was outstanding. Everything was delicious but we particularly enjoyed the tuna sashimi and the Wagyu beef. The popcorn ice cream just begged for another one but we'd have been too full to eat it."

  • "We were a party of 6 dining using Travelzoo vouchers which entitled us to a set "Travelzoo" menu. The meal was was good overall particularly the wagyu ribeye, kimchi and the desserts. It was also good in terms of value thanks to the vouchers."

  • "We stumbled upon this place for lunch after doing some shopping. The decor is very modern and nicely done. The octopus, dumplings, crab salad and short ribs were all really tasty."

  • "Dinner for six with Travelzoo vouchers! The service was impeccable. Our waiter explained every dish, every sauce, every condiment and every side dish. Very friendly but super professional. A real gem. The food was very good. Cooking on a crystal grill was pretty cool too. The entire dinner was very nice and I would surely dine there again."

  • "We were used to the food in Korea but never ate at Kristalbelli and were surprised at how tasty the food is. It is a bit expensive but worth the money. The waiters were very attentive too. The only problem was, that we had a very difficult time finding the place. It is not very well marked and there is renovation going on on the facade. We would go back there, but we don't live in NY."

  • "Had a wonderful dinner at Kristalbelli. Our server, Bernard, was very knowledgeable about the cuisine and explained everything to us in detail. Great atmosphere. I highly recommend the restaurant and would definitely go back on my next visit to the city!"

  • "Food and service where great! Unfortunatly it was really loud because there was music from the upstairs (bar) area (which also belongs to the restaurant) was playing. And on top of that there was also music inside the actual restaurant. It was hard to have a conversation without having to yell at each other! That really ruined the nice ambience and food for us!"

  • "I've been twice so far for business lunches. They have a great value in the pre fixe menu -- very tasty and elegantly presented. Service is strong, too. "

  • "Great food , cooked at your table on a glass hot plate . Very tender waguya , good selection of condiments and delicious desserts. Excellent service too , drink waiter coming around often to refill water , 3 different people checking everything ok ."

  • "I wouldn't say this is the best Korean restaurant in town but my overall impression of the place was very positive. This might be where you take a newbie to introduce them to korean food."

  • "Average at best, meat was way too tough, and not tender."

  • "The food was unique and very tasty. I enjoyed the presentation of each dish. The service was great and the waiter explained each dish and how to eat/pair it. I will definitely be back when I'm in NY. "

  • "I went to Kristabelli with a Travelzoo voucher, and found it to be a great deal. This is a pretty restaurant that was crowded. However, the service was very slow and it seemed like a lot of the parts of the meal were not served."

  • "we were a party of 6 and all had a great time. Food was good and service was attentive. There is a bar upstairs while u wait for your table. Restaurant has the typical sit only when party is here rule and they stick to the word ALL (unlike most places that will sit u if majority of the party is here). I wouldn't have mind it so much if they had given my table when all my party arrived but we had to wait another 30mins for the table. Portions are small but we were all full at the end of the night. All in all, 5 star experience during dining...i just wish they don't have that bad a** attitude when it comes to holding table and then made me wait for another 30mins (seated at 8.45 for 8pm reservation)."

  • "Went with a group of friends for Korean BBQ. We ordered marinated galbi, rib eye and pork belly, and the quality of the meat was excellent - a lot better than most of the Korean restaurants in K-town. But what impressed us even more was their excellent service. Our grill had some issues so they had to cook up the meat in the kitchen. They immediately apologized and gave us soup and soju on the house. During the entire meal, the staff was polite and attentive. The meat was just as tasty and we had a great time. My husband and I will certainly go back to this place. "

  • "I cannot understand why this fabulous Korean is not on everyone's radar! Our meal there this weekend was superb, from the tuna rolls (just tuna, no rice) spiked with wasabe and bacon, to truly unbelievable Wagyu beef. The latter was so tender and flavorful that we kept on eating after we were full: the portion was quite large. As is traditional in Korean fare, there were many small side plates both before and during our meal, and the dish containing crispy tofu and seaweed (served separately, to be clear) was so good that I devoured the whole thing; the waiter promptly brought more! As you might guess, the wait staff is excellent: attentive and informative. The room is elegant and mercifully quiet. Definitely worth a try!!"

  • "This was our first time here and we tried the pre-fixe special menu -- everything we ate was wonderful. We also had an additional entrée which was fabulous. Kristalbelli could easily become a regular. By far the best Korean restaurant we've ever experienced. On par with many of NYC's top restaurants. We will definitely be back on our next trip to New York."

  • "Service was professional, Kristalbelli definitely makes an effort to train their waitstaff and front staff. Food wise, everything was good - Fried dumplings were cooked to perfection and the wagyu steak was full of flavor. The only thing I was not happy with was the portion of the bibimbap for the travelzoo deal. It was considerably smaller (at most, five bites) than the original size, which would've been fine if the deal had stated that but it didn't. This only bothered me because on the receipt they listed the original value based on the full size dishes, so I tipped only 18% instead of 20% on the 'original value.' Overall good experience and will probably be back. Great wine too."

  • "Kristalbelli has attentive waiters and service. I got the prefixed dinner with a friend, well worth it if you look at the overall menu prices. The cocktails are very yummy, but not very strong :(. Definitely order the dry aged rib eye & wag you rib eye - not much of a difference, but both are extremely good. Popcorn ice cream was delicious!"

  • "We had a most wonderful evening there. The food was just fantastic as was the service. My husband thought the music was too loud and the restaurant was not even full at the early time with were there."

  • "Bulgogi delicious, probably our favorite. A smaller but IMO better-curated spread of small appetizers than the usual K-town offerings. The premium Wagyu was indeed beautiful meat and delicious with the salt dip, but not so radically better than dry-aged to be worth the premium in this context. The pieces were left challengingly large & chewy, and the one knife left table side was bizarrely dull. Skip the pork belly, it just doesn't really work on the grill. The desserts (popcorn ice cream and matcha affogato) we're both spectacular. Also the apple cocktail was terrific. Overall, just a wonderful and upscale version of the KBBQ experience, and a really good restaurant period."

  • "If you have not tried Korean food. Try it here. It is a classy place with all the great Korean favorites with the best ingredients. The service is attentive and well coordinated. There is a bar/club upstairs. Would highly recommend. Worth the price and effort to go out of the Koreatown area of Manhattan."

  • "Had a nice dinner here, decided to try the "upscale Korean" experience. Food was very good, panjun were decent (got extra kimchi which was nice), my spouse had the tofu bibimbap in the crystal bowl and enjoyed it very much (sans the crunchy part that develops in stone bowls which is the only downside.) I had the marinated kalbi which was tender and juicy. We had nice cocktails and then some plum wine. Overall a nice experience. Not sure where it will fit in with the cravin' for Korean munchies that K-town satisfies versus the need for a classy dining experience. It sits in between both which will either be a unique niche or a failed experiment. We were happy but I'm not sure when we'll be going back."
