Diner Reviews
  • "For a special celebratory dinner for two, this is a great choice. The food is creatively prepared and presented, and it is delicious. We ordered wine by the glass to pair with our entrees, since I had the crab and my husband had the elk. I was surprised by the generous pours. The service is formal, but friendly. I love the dog & cat theme that carries throughout in the art in the dining rooms and restrooms. "

  • "It has been some time since our last visit and things are back to the Krazy Kat's of old and better than ever. The decor is unchanged, warm quirky and pleasant. A small bar has been added in the entry hall. The menu offers popular dishes with interesting combinations of accompaniments and a few never-before seen items (Chocolate Clams?). Each selection was carefully prepared, properly served and delightful. Most entrees are available in two sizes, an appreciated approach. Our next visit will be soon."

  • "I read about Krazy Kat's in "1000 places to see before you Die" as part of the section on Winterthur. Lovely gem of a restaurant. We breakfasted there so I don't know about other meals. But, breakfast was great in a sunny room. We were joined by locals who clearly know a good place when they eat out."

  • "I treated my friend to a birthday lunch at Krazy Kat's. We both loved the unique ambiance and the service was very good. I loved my crab bisque but wasn't impressed with the chicken BLT. My friend really enjoyed her brisket cherry bbq sandwich; she would've liked less meat and a side of coleslaw or small salad to go with it."

  • "We hadn't been to KK in many years and were delighted to find it as wonderful as we had remembered...we won't delay a return. Foie Gras was exceptional...as were the martinis. Barbara is the perfect server and we will ask for her again. Every thing was absolutely perfect. Sign me....Happy"

  • "Went for brunch. Ordered a Bloody Mary which was delicious, very spicy, which I asked for. I had the strada and it was so delicious, served very hot with crispy potatoes and a savory side salad of greens which had a delightful light dressing. My daughter had the eggs Benedict with crab imperial which was also delicious. Little muffins were served and a nice compliment . Would go back again, price was reasonable. We were in a sunny room to the side of the main dining room which I was pleased about because the main dining room was way too dark for brunch. For dinner it is romantic and charming but during the day they should turn the lights up a little.....just my opinion. All in all a delightful morning!"

  • "After visiting Winterthur Museum to enjoy the incredible exhibit showing the actual costumes worn by the TV characters of Downton Abbey, it was a great pleasure traveling a few minutes to the charming location of Montchanin Village to sit, relax and discuss the Downton experience over a lovely lunch. The crab cakes: exquisite."

  • "I took my parents and husband to Krazy Kat's to celebrate my Mom's 86th Birthday. It is in the charming village of Montchanin where you'll find this jewel. Entering the restaurant, one is greeted by the warmth of the maitre'd as well as the jingly bells hanging on the door. The atmosphere is unique with a collection of all thing cats from the leopard upholstery on the very comfortable chairs to the fine art portraits of felines. The service was first class. The food was fresh and delicious! From the Crab Bisque, the Open-faced Mushroom pita with Butternut squash soup, Reuben on rye, to the pastrami on focaccia, we were a happy and satisfied bunch. Definitely returning. My Mother's Birthday lunch was a great success."

  • "We had an outstanding waitress who was so helpful and informed (food, allergies, gin, wine), really made the experience! The food was mixed, my colossal shrimp were overcooked and not in any way colossal, other fish dishes OK, but pork belly and filets were delightful and very appreciated. I gave ambiance a fair as a neighboring table had a child who was allowed to listen/play some vidoe device with no headphones - onviously parental issue but in a fine dining situation I woudl have expected restaurant staff to act upon this. There are other great restaurants around that I woudl try before returning."

  • "Food was very good but the place seemed to need updating, it was looking a bit worn... very quiet also for a Friday night, not inexpensive and should look a bit better for the price. I would imagine Brunch would be good in the nice weather the grounds and locaiton are nice."

  • "Our lunch was terrible.....slimy soup, over cooked-burned reuben sandwiches. Dry root salad."

  • "Great evening with my husband . First course cheese plate very nice. Second we had chosen appetizer size entrees. Shrimp, duck amazing, filet cooked to temp but a little dry. For dessert , bourbon ice cream, could not taste the bourbon, very small portion. In all nice evening"

  • "The overall experience was great. I am giving a 3 star review for service because of the amount of time it took for us to get our appetizers. We waited over a half hour."

  • "The food is great, the service great, and the ambiance downstairs is really special. We drew the short straw and had to sit upstairs. Still nice experience, but don't understand why it looks like a conference center!"

  • "Lunch in the Annex has always been a treat. Charming room, delicious food, and accommodating service. However, on 2/14/14, customer service was sorely lacking. After choosing to wait for an available table in the Annex, staff seemed to forget about us. At 1:30, the restaurant wasn't crowded so I do not know why we were ignored. I have never had this experience here before so I hope it was an off day for KK."

  • "We usually do chain restaurants but wanted I do something different and Krazy Kats was the perfect destination. You get served like your the only customer in the restaurant and the staff is very polite and friendly. Food was great, specially the crab bisque! If you like crab soup it's the best I have ever had! This is a place I will def want to return too just once a year since your looking at spending at least $130 for two to dine without tip. (That's if you drink as well) no questions asked I would recommend eating here to anyone and might become a regular during lunch for that Crab Bique Soup!"

  • "It was a Monday night so maybe that played a role. But it was my girlfriends birthday and I wanted to take her out to somewhere nice. We went here, the hostess was nice and pleasant, but the waitress was too worried about talking to her friend about her "OBGYN," her gynecologist. The food took forever, and it was not that good. I got the crabcakes which were really just a typical crabcake. And she got a shimp bowl, which she didnt like at all. The Gnocchi were the consistency of boogers, and at the end of the night I could of walked out without paying, she didnt bring the check. We had to go up, and they said by have a good night! And I didnt feel like causing a scene so I payed, $10 tip. DIdnt even deserve that. Waste of $92"

  • "We recently moved to Northern Delaware and this was our first time at Krazy Kats. We loved it. We went for brunch on Sunday and found it quiet (important to us) and the food excellent, beautifully presented and reasonably priced. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, candid, and efficient. While I didn't check kid friendly above because I didn't want to create the "family restaurant" impression, I think my grandsons (13 & 10) definitely would enjoy the food and the extended dining room area, which has a less formal feel than the main dining room area. This is on our repeat frequently list."

  • "Loved the food and ambiance, however, I guess they are soo busy that they need not try to make the customer happy. When we wanted to return, they refused to give separate checks to a party of 12 that wanted a 1 pm brunch. We were there before at 1pm on Sunday, and had separate checks. They are NOT busy at that time, but they flat out refused and were not apologetic, or suggestive of some other way they could help us. We wanted to return because the first time we were there (month ago) it was a good experience. They just didn't care. So, guess what? Neither do I. There are plenty of great restaurants around that still believe the customer is right. My group and I will go elsewhere."

  • "I was taken to dinner here three years ago by the doctor I worked for and was so impressed. I love cats and dogs so the art work just made me feel happy and the fire place just added more warmth to the evening. The meal was beyond words.I decided, when my husband said his company would pay for a holiday dinner for two I selected Krazy Kats. What a let down when we arrived we were taken to a side room with only two other people sitting at a table and the room very uneventful.l I could go on,but just saying,I felt like if I was not a guest at the Inn or a "Patron"..."

  • "The service and attention to detail was superb. Not every dish from the kitchen was a home run and yet the fresh ingredients and obvious top knotch kitchen makes this a winner. The wine list is impressive. We all liked the fact that we could order smaller portions and not be overwhelmed by a ton of food."

  • "And that's not a joke. The food here is stellar. The presentation is unparalleled in our state. This place has been around quite a while, yet still doesn't seem over-crowded when we go. Great date night location for that special someone. It's not cheap, but it's worth every dime."

  • "Yes, this was a great place. From the hostess, to the food, to the service, and the dining room! I had my elderly aunt with is and everyone was so patient. They are all a great team. The food was very good. I do not mind paying the price when it is the run of the mill food. I recommend this to anyone visiting Winterthur or any of the sites in the area. You will not be disappointed."
