I am so sad to see Kozlak's leaving the neighborhood. They have had, over the years, outstanding service, food and ambiance. We had the Clam Chowder which is fantastic. I had the salad bar which, again, is fantastic. My husband had the salad that had a tasty Salmon on the top. He said it was delicious. We are hoping it relocates somewhere close to our area. Since there are no other upscale family owned diner establishments in our area we are so saddened to see them closing on March 15. We are hoping they will find another place to reopen. When and if this happens, we will be making another dinner reservation. Best of luck to the family and their staff. We will miss you.

We found Kozlak's again after many years when we were looking for a restaurant with a salad bar. It is very much an old school supper club with a quiet atmosphere and good food. The salad bar was delicious (although I was disappointed they didn't have my favorite peas with cheese) and so were our meals. The clam chowder was wonderful and we both had shrimp dishes that were very good as was the Bailey's tiramisu for dessert. Excellent service and good food - well worth the short drive out of our way. We would like to go back and try Sunday brunch.

Reservations were for 7:30 PM. Arrived at 7:15 and checked in with the hostess. She told us that our table was not ready and she would come and get us. 1st - problem the place was almost empty. We went to the bar and waited for her to come and get our party which never happen. At 8:00 PM we checked in with her again and then she had our table ready. She was rude like we were putting her out because we were there. Waitress was very friendly. That was the only saving grace. Christmas decorations were still up and it was the 18th of January. Bar area is small and the waitress in that are also made us feel like we were in her way. Food is over priced. When you go out for dinner and spend over $200.00 you like to feel welcome.

This is the place to go if you're looking for great food, excellent service and a welcoming and quiet atmosphere. We've eaten here before and are always torn between their filet and their roast duck. The filet was a perfect medium-rare and was truly mouth-watering. The roast duck with their special plum sauce was falling off the bone tender and the flavor is amazing. The service was prompt, courteous and not at all rushed; they allow you to relax and enjoy your full meal.

Kozlak's has lost it's flair from it's early days - use to have excellent food and now only the bread was in that category. My husband had the walleye and it was barely warm, the veggies were dry and not hot. I had the steak filet and it also was cool. Service was not very attentive. Not worth the high price.

We were very disappointed this year on the holiday buffet. The options on Dec. 20th were shrimp and scallops on noodles and chicken breast. I do not care for sea food so I had the chicken breast. The chicken breast was very dried out - my coworker didn't even eat. I'm not sure why they cut back so much this year, but not what we were expecting. It would be better if they hired the price and offered more. We have been going the past three years, but will check next year to see what they are offering.

Very dissapointing visit! Horribly unattentive service from Jeffrey, "Lost" our Living social coupon,or "forgot". Waitor was dismissive ,unfriendly and acted we were inconveinancing him with basic questions or minimal requests. Seating request by window was not considered though seats by window were open entire time we were there.Food was not worth the price but service made us feel bad for even coming when it was supposedto be a special night.

This experience was OK at best. After being seated we waited 12 minutes before our server came over to greet us, which we had to flag her down. Shortly after a company party of about 20-25 people came in and they were super loud and obnoxious, taking pictures and loud speeches made it impossible to enjoy a nice relaxing dinner. The service got better and we tried our best to ignore the large loud party. The food quality was good, but not good enough for the prices. Probably not going to return.

We used a "Living Social" voucher. The menu is limited and quite expensive. All meals are at least $20. Most steak entres are at least $30. The food was mediocre at best. Not a good value. The salad bar is basic, special salads were nothing to get excited about. The service was just okay. We had a new waitress who wasn't familiar with the menu as much as she should have been. She tried her best though, which we appreciated. We left feeling that we'd had better food and service at other far-less expensive restaurants.

It's a holiday tradition to attend Kozlak's New Orleans style Sunday brunch. This year we were disappointed. Some brunch items (i.e. Gumbo and Biscuits & Gravy) were eliminated. Also missing was the great trio they've had play music in the past. They were fun and really added to the overall New Orleans/Holiday experience. Instead, a guitarist, who was a disruption, played music that really didn't fit the occasion. Some of the staff wasn't as professional as we've had in the past. The woman (who took care of us and we thought was our server) was very good. When we finished, a loud man verified the bill was ours, then threw it on our table. It wasn't clear who would receive the tip we left. This wasn't the great brunch we remember.

We had a pretty nice evening. The food was very good and the ambience was quite pleasant, but it was a cold night and we were freezing inside - we both needed our jackets on through most of the meal. I just think the food is overpriced and we have been to plenty of other restaurants with very good food for half the money.

In past years, we celebrated many occasions--personal, family, and business-related, at Kozlak's. We were never disappointed. About 15 yeas ago, we relocated out of state. When we visited the Twin Cities in November 2013 and decided to dine there again, we wondered if it might have declined over the years. It was delightful to see that the quality of service, the elegant ambiance, and the delicious menu offerings have remained consistent with our memories. Kozlak's is still one of the finest restaurants in the northern suburbs of St. Paul. It's a place to make memories! My wife and I talked about the special times that being there brought to our memories...and we added a new one from our recent visit.

Very cold (temperature and attitude) ambience. Cold loaf of bread with wilted salads. Very rare burger. An open face Reuben with WAY too much cheese, and very little meat. Tentative service. Dessert tray that was not a bit appealing. Will not return, and would not recommend to anyone -except maybe Robert Irvine and his crew for Restaurant Impossible to sanitize, update inside and out, and hire new kitchen staff!

Unfortunately the place is closing in April 2014 - I guess the owner passed away and the land is owned by someone else. Another parcel for development probably to another undistinctive strip mall...

We enjoyed Kozlak's. Food was excellently prepared. We had the prime rib dinner and it was cooked to perfection and served with a mild horseradish. The waitress offered a wine sampler (about 1 oz.) which turned out to be a glass of wine. After raising the issue and pursuing it with management (1 oz. was not 6 ozs.) we gave up trying to get them to make it right. Overall, the experience was good.

Had to hang our jackets from a chair, no cloakroom seemed a little odd for a nicer restaurant. Clam Chowder was only warm, thin and watery. Tasted like canned. Steak was good and nicely prepared. Special steak sauce was gross. Tasted like soy sauce infused with Ginger and Cayenne pepper. Very thin and watery. Was never offered any other steak sauce. We had coffee with our meal, some of the worst I ever had. Smelled like Chickory, not coffee. We were never offered a refill. Service was just okay. On the way out we went by two of the waitstaff. Never said a word to us, no "Thank you for coming, Goodbye", nothing. We didn't feel very welcome. We have had much better service and felt way more welcome at a Perkins for 75% less money.
