A word from Koutouki Taverna
Koutouki Taverna is a family-run Greek restaurant offering up authentic Greek food and a lively atmosphere. We use nothing but the freshest ingredients in our recipes, that are homemade in house daily. The decor is comfortable, welcoming, and resembles a quaint taverna one might stumble upon when travelling the Greek isles. However, on Fridays and Saturdays when the sun goes down, the energy goes up. Bellydancing, plate smashing, and Zorba dancing make for an exciting and memorable dining experience.
**As of April 1, 2012 Koutouki will have a No Minor Policy on Friday and Saturday Evenings.**

Diner Reviews
  • "Have enjoyed the family restaurants for years, although some may consider it 'dirty' in appearance it is part of the rustic charm. Honestly, it could use some updating. ... The food was delicious and the portions very generous, but consider it a treat to visit as 2 appetizers, 2 drinks, and 4 entrées will run you $200+."

  • "We were a party for 4 people and dined in the evening. The restaurant was full and noisy and you could barely hear the music. Food was delicious however the service was slow probably because it was busy. We ended up paying over 200$ for 4 people ( appatizer+main dish and 1 bottle of wine) which was a bit overpriced compared to other restaurants in the area. The restaurant looks dated and lacks the traditional greek decor. The size of the dish wasn't impressive and the greek beer was 10$/bottle!! Anyways it was a nice experience but I don't think we'll return."

  • "My boyfriend and I loved this restaurant. The food was so good, the atmosphere very quiet, and our server was nice, polite, and funny. We had a great evening out. We will be returning again."

  • "Have been to this restaurant several times wanting to always give it another chance but the last visit was the final one. Firstly, they did not honor my request for a special table for a celebration - we were placed where music was loud and temperature was cold. Food is far too pricey for the quality and quantity. You could barely cut into the pork chop and the chicken was very dry among other meal issues. Fried zucchini always served (the cheapest vegetable to serve) and no other option. Service was terrible yet restaurant was not busy. These situations have been ongoing at this restaurant. We were ripped off and that was unfortunate as the guests were out of province who know good Greek food."

  • "Went with a group of 6, so they ordered a variety of apps. They all looked delicious! I had the roasted lamb, it was phenomenal. Will definitely be back soon!!"

  • "Went with friends on the weekend and had a great meal! Mostly shared appetizers and everything was great. Always dependable and delicious--great food and service!"

  • "We were there to catch up with friends...found the volume of music when the dancer was performing to be way too loud, but other than that, it was great."

  • "What a great restaurant ! Dancing onto the street was awesome... And the food was great too! Thank you for making my birthday one to remember!"

  • "My husband and I both love Greek food. We used to go to Syrtaki's but now it's no longer open so we went to Koutouki's. Wrong choice for an anniversary dinner. Very loud and energetic. Food was good but not impressed with the choices given for the Meza."

  • "I made a reservation, drove over 30 min to get there....and they had a private function going on and we were not allowed to eat. In the future please do no send confirmations of bookings when a booking for that night is not possible. "

  • "I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, however found their prices to be high Two people, two tea, two appetitizers, two mains - $97. We didn't even have an alcoholic bevy or dessert! And those chairs are really uncomfortable. I probably won't return when there are so many other restaurants to choose from with reasonable prices."

  • "Koutouki's was once again a great spot to meet for dinner. We didn't specifically order anything and just had the servers bring us recommendations and it was great! I recommend that move when you go here...you pretty much can't miss with their menu."

  • "It was a fun night and the food was awesome. They didn't have a belly dancer so we were disappointed about that for sure, that did take away from the evening, this was the first time we went and there was no belly dancer."

  • "No lamb kebab available that night, so my partner had the braised lamb. Delicious! I had Arctic char which was beautifully cooked. Meals are served hot. Attentive service. We'll be back!"

  • "We were a group of 8 people, all in our late 20's to early 30's and enjoyed ourselves immensely! The restaurant does have a cozy feel but it made for the supper to feel very family like. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant the music was playing, plates were breaking and the belly dancer was entertaining. We did not go to the restaurant on a budget, and ended up spending close to 80 dollars a piece on appetizers, a main dish and wine but considering we spent 3 solid hours enjoying our experience I think it was well worth it and hope to return again soon!"

  • "Dined here frequently a few years ago. It was generally the go-to Greek food place and we had many excellent meals there. Had a couple of mediocre experiences at one of 124th street locations at the time of all the ownership changes and stopped coming. The food on Saturday was up to the standards we had always expected of Koutouki."

  • "This was our first time to Koutoouki and will not be our last. Our server was amazing - really attentive and polite. The food items were all really good, especially the Greek potatoes that had so much flavour, as well as the baklava for dessert, a perfect ending. Lots of energy all around made for a wonderful evening out."

  • "Second time dining at this restaurant. The meze plates are by far the biggest hit -- go there starving though, because you've got a lot coming your way! Amazing food! Loved the cozy feeling even though the place was packed. Could have done without the pushy and loud belly dancer thou."

  • "Our recent dining experience at Koutouki's did not disappoint. Its been quite a while since we last visited your fine establishment, but immediately felt at home in the warm and comfortable surroundings. We were seated in a cozy spot next to the bar, which at first I thought might be a bit too distracting, but the casual flow of waiters and guests actually felt quite comfortable. The service was prompt and courteous and our favourite servings of lamb roast and moussaka were generous and delicious. This accompanied with 2 fine glasses of wine, made for yet another enjoyable and relaxing dining experience at our favourite Greek restaurant! "

  • "The food was absolutely fabulous. I had a great time. We ordered the Meza and it was past my expectations. Great service, fantastic food and a nice charming restaurant. Worth going to if you like great Greek food. Gives Yannis a run for their money!"

  • "We were at Koutouki at 5:30 on a Saturday, so there weren't many other diners there at the time. It had filled by the time we left at 7:00. The food was fabulous. The atmosphere is lovely. The staff were a bit overly attentive, though. I think there were about four people who would come by and fill our water glasses every time we took a sip. And about the same number who would pop by regularly to see if everything was good. And then my friend had a bit of salad left on her plate off to the side that she was still nibbling on and within the span of 5 minutes, three separate staff asked if she wanted the plate taken away. Which she didn't. Everyone was very nice, but it was overkill, and we had trouble carrying on our conversation."
    Dined on 5/3/2014
  • "We enjoyed the food but the music volume made it difficult to carry on a conversation and I left with ringing in my ears which lasted for hours. I will not return to this restaurant due the potential for hearing damage."
    Dined on 4/26/2014
  • "The food was good and generous portions. Service was friendly and prompt, perhaps a bit too prompt. We had ordered some appetizers and one arrived right away, but the main course came before the other appetizer arrived. A bit more time in between appetizers and main course would have been better."

  • "Another memorable evening in an unsurpassed Greek setting. From the greeting at the door to the excellent dining experience I recommend a visit to this Greek eatery as a must for lover's of authentic and perfectly prepared appetizers and a taste of Greece that, ifyou close your eyes will take you there! • "Always the best - always consistent! If you have not had the greek potatos or griled octopus from here you are missing out on an Edmonton treasure. Thursday night was quick service and great food right before the show at the Roxy!"

  • "A group of us went have the item called "meze" on the menu. it is tasty as always with 12 different items. The wine was very nice choose for the whole meal. Watching the belly dancer was a lot of fun. It is a place that I would recommend to any one wanting a true Greek food experience."

  • "We chose Koutouki's for my wife's birthday on a friday night , we could not get the meal we order because they where out of beef at 6:45 pm so we ordered chicken and it was over cooked and dry overall a waste of time for a special night."

  • "Such a wonderful spot, fun, exciting , and delicious! And family run to boot!!"
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "My 3 friends and I went to Koutouki Taverna on a Saturday night. We all chose the "Meze" meal from their menu, which is like having several menu items, tapas style. The dishes are served with a generous pause between each of them to allow time for the food to settle before the next dish. We were also treated to a performance by a belly dancer. It was wonderful, but the music was very loud during her performance and it became difficult to carry on a conversation. On the down side were the small and uncomfortable chairs. A small pillow can be requested, but we found that the chairs remained uncomfortable for all of us. Aside from the chairs, we had a wonderful experience at Koutouki Taverna and would definitely recommend it to everyone!"

  • "We dined here with friends of ours, so there were four in our party. We all had the meze and it was excellent. The food came out at great pace and we spent 3 hours visiting, eating and enjoying ourselves. I definitely recommend this if you are out with one person, or a group. It's a great atmosphere and the food is amazing! Plus, we are all big eaters and we were all full from the meze."

  • "Have been going to Koutouki's for a long time. Miss the 170th Street location but it wasn't very accessible and I can see why it has gone. The 124th Street location is fine but the parking is very limited. The food as always was wonderful. There was a group of three of us on this night. We ordered the dolmades, spanakopita, greek salad and ribs. The portions were so large that we did not have any room for dessert. The food here is always consistently good and the service is wonderful."

  • "This place is fantastic every time we visit. I bring my staff here for Christmas Parties, family birthdays, anniversaries and just a night with friends. The food is always mouth watering , our favorite is thr meza, each time offers a little different flavor. Friday and SaturdayIis the best nights if you wang a little extra entertainment as they have the belly dancers, opa lines and the breaking of dishes. All by a candle light atmosphere. If you love greek , this is the place !"

  • "Warm friendly atmosphere, good service and a good selection of appetizers - just what we were looking for! Only negative was in getting our bill as a large number of guests had just arrived. Our window seat was nice, but a little chilly beside the window. We will be back!"
