Diner Reviews
  • "Somehow my reservation had switched days but Korq still took the time to set us up with a spot. We requested waters and couple bottles of wine and three appetizers to start. Server came back three times telling us that they did not have the selection of wine. Her exact words had been “we do not have a lot of our Reds in right now”. Well we waited to find a wine it was over 15 mins before we even got water. The waitress spilled wine on on of the parties shirts and had to be asked to get club soda. She tired to collect menus before we ordered our main meals. I have very mixed feelings about if I will return to Korq. The food was very good.. Two Coke had been ordered one came in a short scotch glass the other had to be reordered. Much more."

  • "This was my third visit to Korq. First two visits were with other couples and the food was excellent on both occasions. On our second visit I had the pork tenderloin special & my husband had whitefish, & friends had the bouillabaisse - all excellent, although no bread was served with the seafood stew, to enjoy with the tasty broth. On this last visit, we had a large group of 11 on a Wednesday night, so not terribly busy. Service was incredibly slow and most of our appetizers and entrees were served fairly cold. My husband's fig & walnut salad (a special) arrived well after all other entrees. The waitress did not even offer us coffee or a look at the dessert menu just brought the bill. Not suited for serving large groups, I surmise."

  • "Always enjoy lunches and dinners. The menu is great - must try everything! The service is very hospitable. The hours are great and it's a very handy location."

  • "Food was flavourless we had 3 dishes and did not like any. Got the impression through the website it was a more intimate romantic setting but it was cold and modern and loud. Website said there were drink specials server told is there were not. Website also gave the impression of high end tasters of wine you could purchase, however server told us they do not do that anymore either. All in all very poor experience."

  • "NOT a winehouse. Wine list is small and doesn't have any outstanding wines. The first 3 we requested were "out of stock" No energy in the restaurant, lots of staff standing around. Charcuterie board is disgraceful."

  • "I went to Korq for a business lunch. We were promptly seated, had good, attentive service, and good food. We had a nice Caesar Salad with grilled chicken and a very nice blackened fish sandwich. The fish was well spiced and cooked just right - slightly rare. All in all it was a good lunch. I'm sure that I would go back for lunch or for a drink after work but I’d be cautious of going for a dinner as the atmosphere was more bar than restaurant and even at lunch time it was already quite loud."

  • "Despite reading the negative comments on the internet, we still thought we would give this restaurant a chance. Unfortunately, the internet comments were bang on!! The food quality was far less than our expectations. Charging a premium price for poor quality food means we will not go back or recommend this place to our friends."

  • "Overall experience for lunch was OK. Service was slow. The server seemed more interested in larger groups and those groups who chose to order alcohol. The food was very good, although it would have been nice to have an option on the dressing for my salad. When I mentioned how salty the dressing, I was told perhaps I should have ordered it on the side or to order a different dressing next time. This was never offered on ordering."

  • "Loved the food. Portion size was very good. Service was outstanding. Loved the music and live entertainment with the violinist playing along with the music."

  • "There seemed to be a mix-up after the ordering of our meal. The order went in but it took an exceeding long time to have the main course served. The drinks and salad came in a reasonable length of time. Once we asked for our dinner, it came quickly and the clearing of the dishes was reasonably handled. Perhaps check your process."

  • "The good: Very tasty duck confit The bad: Sweet potato gnochi (very small portion), over-priced wine The ugly: Management spent as much time eating and drinking as they did running the restaraunt. Confined space amplifies background noise making it hard to have a conversation at less than yelling volume when it is full."

  • "The food here was amazing and has us floored but our server kind of forgot about our table and was slow to take our orders, both drink and meal."

  • "Korq boasts a great wine list and an assortment of local Craft style beers. Thsi will be a great place to enjoy Happy Hour. this is not a place to enjoy lunch at. With an array of GREAT restaurants in and around the Husky tower save this one for Happy Hour. And just on a side note... A rare steak does not mean unable to chew or cut. The managemnet may want to investigate some knowledge of food. and hair nets might also be a constructive suggestion."

  • "A group of us came in to dine. Ordered quite a few bottles of wine and an array of appetizers. Service was just okay, waitress was not that friendly and the place was pretty empty making the atmosphere feel somewhat uninviting. Food was just okay - disappointed with the Charcuterie Boards (variety of cheeses & meats didn't compliment each other, no soft textures in chesse either all the same consistency). Flatbread was burnt on one side and the cheese had all slid to the middle - very unappealing. Won't reccomend this resturant or be back anytime soon."

  • "We arrived for our 8pm reservation to find that our table wasn't ready, we were repeatedly told by multiple staff that our table would be ready in '5 mins' table was ready 20 mins later and we were given multiple reasons as to why the table wasn't ready. Once seated we weren't acknowledged by our server, and some from management took our order. Food was long to come and definitely wasn't worth the price we paid for it. Service was slow and mediocre. Not somewhere I would recommend for a nice evening out."

  • "I made an online reservation mid-day Saturday for my friend and I to dine for my birthday. There was no issue with the reservation. The staff greeted us warmly and promptly escorted us upstairs. Our waiter took our jackets, was friendly and helpful as best he could be. He even arranged so that I could use a staff members cell phone charger. Several staff mentioned my birthday which was a nice touch. A gentleman who I assume was a manager came to get feedback from us about our dining experience."

  • "I can give Korq a break on things like not providing menues or water or drink menues for a long time. The limited wine list though- only 14 reds, makes the name korq wine house false advertising. If you order a share plate ask what size/ shape the plae is. Desert portions are big enough to share. Amazing ambiance and talented live musician."

  • "The wine and scotch offerings were good, but the dessert left something to be desired. The creme brule was good but the cookie it was accompanied by was hard as rock, and the cheese cake was topped with almonds for no particular reason. When we were deciding on a second glass of wine or not, we opted for not."

  • "Our food took forever and when it did finally come the meat was overcooked and the pasta was undercooked. They did cover the price of the food which was nice but I don't think I will be going back."

  • "We were seated in a high traffic area. There was four empty tables that had a little less traffic & I asked to sit in one of the tables & all those table had apparently already been reserved. It seemed silly that they couldn't just switch the reservations for the tables. I felt like our reservation had been forgotten about and we kind of just got seated in a less desirable spot. As for service, we had ordered an appetizer, & hoped to of been able to order our meals too but the waitress left. I ended up keeping my menu on my lap due to the tables being too small with our plates, glasses, etc. Food was alright. I ordered the curry chicken & the noodles were still hard. For a meal for 2 being $100, I wasn't overly impressed."

  • "We went a couple of weeks ago and it was so great that I feel compelled to write a review after that amount of time has passed and a week in Mexico. Food was really good, portions were decent sized--not teensy like some new restaurants we have tried lately--not massive either. Wine list was interesting and they let us try a bunch of different wines by splitting the 6 oz size into 2s. We drank just as much, but got to try more wines which I loved! Services was fun and very attentive. We will definitely go back. I loved it. We have tried 3 or 4 newish restaurants in the last couple of months, and none of them were very memorable, but this one really was. Thank you so much."

  • "Dropped off my wife & conf table on 3rd flr, parked went straight up to the 3rd looking. Waitress & mgr came asked me to go back down, had attitude, rude, short & snappy. Simply one of them could have went down to conf the table. Short sighted & guest mistreatment. The burger was well done & dry and the bass fillet was over done and half a portion, for a $26 entree. Waited another 1/2 hr to get our meals again. Burger was not that great but did much better on the bass fillet. They need to get their house in order asap to be able to survive. Wish them the best. Simply put,our experience was "UN-KORKED""

  • "Funny how a wine bar didn't have wines that were on their list, limit selection . The wine list states country of origin but not type? I'm sure California and Canada have more than one type of wine? Disappointing to say the least. Very broken up area which makes the restaurant feel like your not really there."

  • "Despite running out of a few food items, the menu was really good, and seeing some of the dishes that other people were having, made us want to return to this restaurant. It is a great venue with a lively bar atmosphere on the ground floor and quieter restaurant seating on the upper floors. We will definitely return!"

  • "Would have to agree with other reviews, not sure what this place is going for. Went there during the week for some tapas and food was really good (humous flatbread, cheese and meat board and gnocci), but atmosphere is a little off. Probably a good place for after work drinks on a Thurs or Friday."

  • "I was really excited to try this place out. Unfortunately it just didn't impress me. The food was pretty good but ambience was not. Sitting upstairs where the ceiling is so low feels uncomfortable. I think if they changed the furniture it would really help. The tables and chairs are old, uncomfortable and uninviting to want you to stay and relax. The tables are tiny there is nothing on the walls. It almost felt like a cafeteria upstairs. The service was average. You want a waiter to tell you a little about the place and the food. He was just average. Again the biggest fail was the upstairs ambience or lack there of. Some comfy furniture would help you forget how awkwardly low those ceilings are."

  • "I went with a co-worker for lunch. The food was good, but came with a pretty hefty price tag for what you get. The waitress confused out orders with the table next to us and brought us the wrong order. She was somewhat apologetic, but very flaky. I probably wouldn't go back. There are a lot of other choices in this city."

  • "The food is amazing. The signature dish as to be the duck confit because that was wonderful. Great job on the wine too! They have this "tap" that allows you get NICE wine by the glass rather than a choice of just a few before having to spend the money on a whole bottle. It's nice that the dining room upstairs is completely separate from the lounge, and I like the fact that indoor parking after six is only a couple of bucks. That appeals to me in this weather."

  • "WE WALKED THREE FLIGHTS OF NARROW CEMENT STAIRS. NOT THE SAFEST TO THE THIRD FLOOR. SPECIALS AND AN EXPENSIVE RED WINE, TOOK THE WAITER FOREVER TO SERVE US,THE APPETIZER WAS DISAPPOINTING - CALAMARI ALL RUBBERY IN LEMON RADISH SAUCE. WAITED 1/2 HR FOR IT & THE WINE WE ORDER STILL DID NOT SHOW UP. FINALLY, THE WINE CAME AFTER WE WERE FINISHED WITH THE APPETIZER, AND IT TOOK THREE TIMES FOR THE WAITER TO OPEN THE BOTTLE, BREAKING THE CORK THREE DIFFERENT PLACES. HE SHOULD HAVE STOPPED THE FIRST TIME HE BROKE THE CORK AND GOT A FRESH BOTTLE, BUT HE DIDN'T. I HAD DUCK CONFIT SPECIAL AND MY PARTNER HAD THE CHICKEN PASTA SPECIAL AND WE SHARED THE SALAD. ALL VERY DISAPPOINTING. SCALE OF 1-10, 10 BEING HIGHEST, WE SCORED THIS PLACE A "4"."

  • "This was my second visit and I really enjoy the realxed atmosphere of the restuarnt. The wine list is extensive and very afordable. I've had the calamari on both visits and absolutely love the refreshing light flavors. The butter chicken is divine. All in all a great spot for girls night out."

  • "The menu is interesting and it looks like the chef is trying to create an Indian or middle-eastern fusion with some of the dishes. The "wine guide" was awkward and self conscious, which doesn't lend to confidence in purchasing twenty dollar glasses of wine based on his recommendation, but everyone needs to start somewhere I guess! The food was cooked properly and tasted ok, however for the prices charged, it should have been something to rave about. I ordered the maple chicken, and for twenty six dollars I was served a rather salty (definitely NOT maple) tiny piece of chicken on a pile of spinach and a few mushrooms. There may have been a starch under the wilty spinach, but it certainly wasn't note worthy."

  • "9 of us went there for lunch. The food was tasty, portion was good for lunch, menu is refreshing. The service was just fair. The hostess sat us down at the table and told us she didn't know who's our server is. The place was not busy at all, maybe 3 or 4 other tables at the same time. We waited for almost 15 min for our server to show up for our drinks order. After the drinks came, it took her another 15 min to come take our food order. So by the time we got our food, our lunch hour was almost over."

  • "We came here for a business lunch for a fellow colleague. The service and atmosphere were good. The menu lacks a little, or a lot, though as the drink menu is 3 times bigger in size and content than the actual food menu itself - not a lot of choice. Because we had a larger group it is understandable that our food would take a little longer to be brought out - I think we waited about 50 minutes (although the restaurant was not busy at all). When the food did arrive everything looked and smelled great, (portion size for salads are a small) except for the moldy buns that came with the burgers. Korq did profusely apologize and compensated for the burgers while making new ones...but I suggest they pay a more attention to detail here on out."

  • "Have ordered the Italian Bread Salad 3 times; 1st time the bread was hard as a rock (like inedible) and I asked the waitress if that was how it was meant to be. She said no, they remade it, and it was DELICIOUS. So good I came back the next day and ordered it again - bread was again too hard to bite into (said nothing; figured they're working out the kinks being a new restaurant). This time I asked the waitress to make sure the bread wasn't rock hard, and it was. The manager came to check, I let him know the past experiences, he checked with the chef and returned to tell me it's meant to be that hard, said he'd return again but didn't. I have no issue with the dish (just won't reorder it) but be consistent at least! Thank God I have dental!"
