  • Not sure the value was there - short on product

The venue was nice and they had a violinist playing to current music which was really refreshing and fun. Our server was really nice, although a little timid. Our general concerns, and why we wouldn't recommend this restaurant, are a couple of things: 1. While the food was very tasty we just didn't feel it had the same value as many similar restaurants. The Cheese & Charcuterie plate was laughable at $36 (blue cheese was just crumbles and cold cuts were just that) and our server never even told us what any of them were when she put it down and there was no preserves, etc to compliment any of them. The other items we had that were tasty but not worth their price was the hanger steak and the sweet potato gnocchi (both in the $16-$17 range) the hanger steak was five slices and the gnocchi a small bowl. I know they're under the share menu but still not worth the price. 2. Our server explained they were in the middle of changing their menu's over which is whey there were out of two of their six entrees, as well as all of their desserts (which was disappointing since we'd looked online before we came in) and so our server listed their only two desserts and we got both - one was two little rings of cheesecake that I'm pretty sure came out of a President's Choice dessert box (still had the outline of the foil cup it came in). The other was a vanilla cake, which was dry and bland, and not really a vanilla cake at all. 3. They didn't have any of the bottles of wine we wanted to order, even though we could see them up top in the wine cellar - leading us to assume they were all filled with colored water. Again, the server explained it was because they were changing over the menu.... Overall, the food was tasty but not worth the price when compared to similar restaurants, and being out of so much product was really disappointing. So I wouldn't recommend this restaurant as I don't know what will be on the new menu and if they will have it...

Food was ok, but nothing special. Reasonable value. Server was pretty casual about explaining the special, didn't seem particularly interested in being there. Service started out ok, but then got slow. Had to ask for the bill twice as we approached the end of lunch hour. Restaurant was not full, so it wasn't because the server was too busy - just not very attentive. I had heard good reviews, but was underwhelmed - Might be more of an after-work/evening destination??

Restaurant was probably 20% full at lunch hour, soup was lukewarm at best and flatbread had too much truffle flavor - it was overwhelming, I could only eat 1/3 of it. I will not go back for some time.

Was pretty empty so when we asked to sit upstairs we had the place completely to ourselves for almost the entire meal. Atmosphere was nice and music was good since it was nice and quiet. Unfortunately food took a really long time despite us being almost the only people in the entire place, but everyone was very friendly and helpful.

I have the funghi flatbread and it was fairly unmemorable; reminded me of something I would get from a microwave. The service was great; wait staff was very friendly. Still a great place but food wasn't great.

The service was exceptional, the suggestions for wine and snacks absolutely right on the mark. A girlfriend and I had stopped by for a glass of wine and snack before a movie. We shall definitely return, and recommend this little gem to our friends. Thank you; keep up the good work and we look forward to enjoying your new menu, and daily specials. Karen and Trudy

The Food and Wine here are decent. However the service here is slow and lousy, it is particularly upsetting to see the waitresses chatting with the bartender while you are waiting on drinks. The delivery of food to your table is very slow, so if you are in a hurry this is not the best place in town. The dinning room is rarely open, and the main floor is not suitable for all occasions.

We arrived at 7pm for an evening with friends only to be told we have to leave by 8:30 for a private function. They did not have the selection of food or beverage that we requested. We had a friendly waitress but it was tough to deliver the constant messages of no they did not have this or that, as well as having to advise us of the early departure required. They had my cell number, it would have been good to know about the private party booking in advance so we could make other plans. Saturday night without a reservation left slim pickings for other alternatives. Won't be back.

We are celebrating a birthday of a friend and we decided to try a new restaurant, we don't so much expectations because we read the reviews it seems not so great but still decided to try it. We are surprised the food is great, I ordered the homemade fried chicken and I find it unique and really good. The fries is delectable, we cleaned up the plate. We shared the dessert of chocolate mousse, it's not the usual taste, you could savor the original recipe of their pastry chef, they only have one choice of dessert but they always come up a different dessert every night. I will tell my friends about this restaurant, we had a great night.

Nice place for a drink but the food was below average at best. Fungi Flatbread gluten free version had no flavour, and the bottom of the bread was not even toasted which left the food cold. Neeswa salad was meh. Truffle fries were meh and took over 20 minutes to come out even though we were the only table in the restaraunt. Saving Grace was the cool electric violin player accompanying some pop instrumentals.

Reservation was 430. We got a table at 515. Never offered a drink while we waited. Finally got a table to small for our group mind you but at least a seat. The server who took our drink order sent another server over 10 minutes later to take our drink order because he forgot. Next we tried to order red wine and they were out of ALL red wine on their happy hour menu. This place was a joke. I will never go back and will highly recommend my other coworkers in the next building to not go either.

Went again for a work lunch as this is close to our office. Services was mediocre at best. At lunch we were told the updstairs is closed (???) and gettting a decent table was a challenge in spite of there being almost no one there. Food was ok, but I will think twice about going here when there are other downtown restaurants that will try harder to keep our business.

I typically do not bother writing reviews, but the experience was so bad that it is worth commenting so that people don't waste their time going to this restaurant. I'll keep this short: - There was no music playing, which created an awkward atmosphere (not huge, I know- but still worth noting) - The three of us ordered wine and when the waitress delivered them she said, "I hope I didn't mix those up". As it turns out, not one of us received the wine we ordered- it was like musical chairs with our wine glasses - The food was mediocre at best - We were asked if we wanted desserts, upon answering affirmatively, the waitress was informed that they did not have any desserts because (and I quote), "the kitchen did not feel like making any"

There was a special for wine, $5 for 6oz until 7 p.m. We were never told about the special, nor that it only affected the 6oz glasses of wine, while most of us ordered the 9 oz. We ordered food at 6:30 and never saw our waitress again until after 7:00. Overall, a good experience, the food was good, but the service was very poor. OH, and because we were more than 8 we had to add 18% tip......seriously? The waitress was not able to do the job to even justify 10%!

We went here for dinner on a Friday night after work, there was 6 of us women. The service was good, prices are average for downtown, the food wasn't very good. Most of it was rather boring even though the way they word it on the menu makes it sound more upscale. I ordered the gnocchi and it had more arugula than anything else, which is fine if I had ordered a salad. And the while flavour was quite dull. Same goes for the flatbreads and a few other appetizers. Too many places to try in Calgary so probably wouldn't go again.

I go to Korq for lunch because it is near my office and they have gluten-free options. A few months ago, they offered gluten free bread options and asked me to test them out for them. I did and gave them positive feedback. Within 6 months, now, they changed the gluten free bread to something less worthy and have it does not appear on the menu at all. They have a variety of GF salads. I chose the spinach salad and paid 14 dollars for a scant portion of spinach and a few chopped walnuts, raisins, and some goat cheese. The whole thing probably cost the restaurant $4 to make. It was tasty but I had to come back to my office and eat another lunch. I did not complain in person as I was on a business lunch.

The night started out great, the manager even removed one of the dishes from the bill because it wasn't made well. But when we reordered some more appies and they didn't arrive, we were told the kitchen was closed for the night. No notice given, that the kitchen closes at a certain time, by now it is 10:30. Then we noticed the tables were getting moved behind us, and we were getting looks from the patrons. So we asked what was going on tonight and told that it was Latin night. So we told our server that we'll be more than happy to move so they can start dancing, and the comment given was "well you guys are done anyhow right", ummm I don't think we had asked for the bill yet. But after having another drink it was time to leave, all 10 of us.

We specifically picked Korq for it's menu online as we had a few people in our group that are vegan. When we got there the menu was a third of the size with nothing that would accommodate the vegan guests. The waitress said they were in the process of switching over their menu for the new chef. It was disappointing to only find this out that night, especially since we were there with a large group for a special event. Good side the food that we did order tasted great and the wine list was large but overpriced. I would not go back.

I was concerned by other comments about the service but I had no trouble. The staff were pleasant, service was good and the food was tasty. I had two concerns that kept me from giving Korq a higher rating. First, the restaurant looks great but there is a faint odor of stale bar as I walked in that was off-putting. I assume this is residual from years of other after-work drinking venues but I found it surprising. Second, I like my protein so when I pay $5 to add it to a salad I like to see some protein on there. The shrimp was tasty but three smaller-sized tail-on shrimp didn't satisfy. The burgers look fabulous and I will definitely give it another try. They were great about feeding me within my lunch-hour time limit. Good potential here.

Wow! That was absolutely brutal. While the food and wine were good, that was completely masked by the ridiculous table we were given by the bathrooms! Even though made a reservation and expressed our interest to sit in a more social area we were told no; as we gazed at empty tables. Service was some of the worst I've ever had, sad part is they seemed clueless that there is an issue. Won't be going back nor recommending this place! Were did common sense in customer service go? While I must say our server was very pleasant and attentive, the overall service from the kitchen was terrible (upper floor lunch area). We ordered our meal at about 12:20 pm and it took about 50 minutes to get our lunch. While the restaurant offered us a free desert by the time we were done eating it was nearly 2:00 pm and we all had to get back to work. Doubt we'll be back, which is too bad because the menu looked pretty inviting.

For all the hype that this place had I was not very impressed, reservation was at six we showed up at six on time like normal people do when they make reservations. The staff was in the middle of a team meeting, they were barely even ready to be open! there was no music on they didn't even have ice yet.... Yes apparently they have to go elsewhere out of the restaurant to get ice and the waitress said to me oh sorry we don't normally have reservations this early! that was her excuse, hello do you not open at 6:00? Long story short I would not go back.
