"Amazing flavors and wonderful combinations of dishes. Four of us enjoyed 2 apps and 3 mains and were completely happy with our choices-- the variety and quantity of food was perfect. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and charming. All in all, a wonderful meal."

"Koo Zee Doo is a labor of love. The food is memorable, offering flavors available nowhere else in Philadelphia, based on traditional Portugese cooking. Even the coffee was outstanding, better to my taste even than the La Columbe available at many of Philadelphia's finest restaurants.
The service is attentive, educating you as much as you would like about what you are eating. In particular the tasting menu is a way to sample much of the menu (as at Amada), and a bargain for what you get, and is at least as wonderful an experience."

"We had the Sunday special: 1/2 of a chicken marinated and grilled, ribs St Louis style, fried potatoes, beans and rice. Everything was very good with the important exception that except for the beans and rice there was way too much salt. Otherwise the service was friendly and personable and the restaurant is a pleasant and characterful space."

"Interesting and unique dishes but very small selection. Outstanding shrimp with heads on in a piri sauce, clams very nice, large plump whole sardines, and unique chicken gizzards. Also an ample seafood salad in a cold piri sauce had some lobster in it. The entree of duck rice was excellent but way too small for the $34. Suckling pig was expensive at $38 but moist and an ample portion. The service was perfect and not rushed at all. I enjoyed Koo Zee Doo very much, it is a friendly and quality place. But there is not enough variety in the menu and this will preclude me from being a frequent visitor."

"I love this place. It's cozy, the food is unusual--kind of like comfort food with a sense of adventure-- expertly prepared and very fresh. The owners are your chefs and you can watch them cook. The entrees are very generous and meant to be shared--so it would be great for a date or even a group outing. Hard to say what I like best, but the rabbit, the "octopus gravy", the piri piri shrimp, the amazing chicken gizzards and the grilled sardines are among favorites. And the prices are extremely reasonable. BYO, no corkage fee. We liked it so much that we had our 20 family members go there for Thanksgiving last year. Just awesome. Unless of course you have too many rules and phobias about trying new and delicious things."
