Diner Reviews
  • "Appetizers were great, great service, comfortable yet very classy. However my only complaint was my sliders, very, very dry, didn't complain however I didn't eat but half of one. The sweet potatoe fries were excellent."

  • "Definitely good value for the money overall. Energetic Gen Y crowd with a preponderance of females. Many large groups. Food was tasty. On arrival the hostess at the podium informed me that she saw no reservation for us. I waited a few minutes for my other party, then when I asked again, another hostess told me they had already arrived and were waiting on their patio. Still, it's a pleasant place with an upbeat atmosphere where I'd go again."

  • "I loved it the food was good and fast. We enjoyed out experience it was second time we been there first-time 3 years ago when my husband proposed we had a large party, and this year our anniversary everything was just perfect and everything was in a timely manner, we went on a friday at 7. I think prices are great, nice change of atmosphere if you want to do something different and special."

  • "Second time at Kona. Bar was hopping with a great outdoor space that was packed. We dined inside, which is lovely. Was catching up with a friend and atmosphere is very conducive to conversation. Wait staff was attentive without hovering. The chicken chili was excellent; portion actually a little too big for a starter. Blackened mahi was the special and it was cooked nicely. Great to have some green vegetables !! Green beans sauteed perfectly. White rice was fine; could've done with less of that. All in all everything was well prepared and tasted good."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed Kona Grill in my first visit. Service was outstanding from the moment we entered to the restaurant until we walked out. The wait staff was engaging and we felt appreciated. We shared a dinner-sized salad and ribeye steak. Good thing we did as both were healthy portions. We will return. Try it, you'll like it."

  • "Happy hour not available in dining room. Patio seating first come, first serve. Made dining room reservation as back up, but sent someone early to secure patio seats for party of ten. Drinks half off until closing on patio with $6 appetizers, including calamari and giant chicken flatbread. Highly recommend the sea bass. Separate checks did not fluster our server even when everyone changed seats more than once. Hit this place every time in town! Sushi just ok."

  • "My reservations was incorrect, I made reservations for 5 and they insisted it was 2. We had a moderate wait but was seated as soon as the opportunity presented ."

  • "Food is always very good but the best part about this is the outdoor patio especially when the weather is nice outside."

  • "Arrived at 12 during week for business lunch. Server must have had too many tables because barely saw. Ordered at 12:20 (after asking someone else to get her and placing order with someone else). Mentionef to both that I was in a hurry and had a hard stop at 1 PM. At 10 minutes of one, server came out to tell us the kitchen was backed up and it would be 10 minutes before we got our food. I told her yet again that that was on except a bowl and I would have to leave. She then came back with our two salads. Very disappointed and would not come back unless have more than an hour during lunch."

  • "The restaurant was having an off night we were told on this visit. The bar and kitchen were backed up (8:30 on a Saturday night). We ordered the spinach+artichoke dip appetizer. While I thought the flavor was good, it was runny, heavy on artichoke and very light on spinach. For entrees, we had the salmon and the meatloaf. The salmon was pretty good, but the portion size was just fair - I still had plenty of room for dessert (even though I usually don't). The meatloaf was not as good. The shoyu gravy was decent, but the loaf itself was... different. There weren't many vegetable options for sides - just mostly starches. I'll give this place another try, but if it is like this visit, it will be my last. It's just not worth the price."

  • "Decent experience. A bit disappointed it didn't live up to the hype of the reviews that I had read prior to our dinner. Dinner was good, but not unique. Service was fair because waiter was sporadically attentive. Deco was eye catching. Not a date restaurant - too loud to talk across a booth table."

  • "With party of 4, stopped in on a Saturday night. Manager at host stand asked if reservations which we did not. Was told 1.75 hour wait. I stepped aside logged into open table to see other options only to see reservation times available at this Kona Grill for 8pm and later ( it was 740pm) and we were told the wait. So I reserved through open table ant right back up to the host (mAnager now gone) with my reservation and we were seated immediately in a booth too. Food good, server okay, wait for food dinner long. Oh and there were quite few empty tables as we were eating. Word to wise always check open table."

  • "Overall, my girlfriend and I had a decent experience. The food was great but the service was lacking. We went on Valentine's Day around 5 pm and it wasn't that busy yet it took forever for our drinks and food to come out. You would think the service would be a little bit better because the restaurant wasn't crowded. I would recommend the restaurant because the food was delicious and the wine menu was outstanding."

  • "The ambience was wonderful and the staff was professional and outgoing. The menu has something for everyone from upscale comfort food (meatloaf) to a nice offering of salads. The quality of the food for the price made it a tremendous value. I will not wait for a special occasion to visit again."

  • "Have eaten here before (meals were good, but nothing really special), but never tried their Sushi. Sorry that I did. The presentation was nice, but after tasting it , was very disappointed. First we started with Miso Soup: First two rounds were cold; round three, brought out by manager, "we made a fresh batch" was warm, not hot. We next ordered the tuna tower; better name would be tuna topper. Tower was mostly rice, then a mixture that they also use in the rolls that more closely resembles particle board, and then a meager amount of spicy tuna on top. The steak and lobster roll was fair as was the rainbow roll. The server, Chloe, was very personable and helpful. Overall, if a return visit is done, I will certainly not order sushi."

  • "Reserved for 10 people, we were seated on time, wait staff friendly, Tea's are wonderful, food good. Our group sat inside and you could not hear one another. Noise level a bit much to for a group of 10 people."

  • "My family enjoyed the first day of the new year with a luncheon at Kona grill. The service was excellent and the menue had a great selection of dishes with moderate prices. The food was excellent and we had a great time"

  • "We have eaten often at Kona Grill and enjoyed the experience. But for those of us who have some dietary restrictions, Kona Grill has yet to move into the mainstream. For example, they do not serve brown rice sushi as many sushi restaurants do these days. This means essentially that I cannot go back if I am to enjoy sushi. In addition nutritional counts from myfitness.pal indicates that the majority of Kona's menu is very high in sugar and salt, another reason why it is difficult for me to ever eat there again."

  • "Five of us ate at Kona Grill on a Wednesday evening before Christmas. The service was very good overall, although we wondered several times where our waitress had gone. The food was good, though not exceptional. I had a nice chowder, but it wasn't hot when it arrived. Another person at our table tried the miso soup and immediately stopped due to excess salt. That was when we needed the waitress's attention but she didn't appear for 5 or more minutes. The service was very good overall, but there were glitches like the soup incident. The waitress had checked with us immediately after we were served and before we started eating. The ambiance was nice for a group and overall a good experience."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the ambiance. My companion had the sea bass with fried rice. She had the ratatouille served on the side as she was concerned about the spice level...it did have a bit of a kick but was excellent. I never pass up an opportunity to have sushi and was not disappointed. The sushi sampler was fresh and delicious. Restaurant had several larger parties but our service didn't suffer."

  • "Went to have dinner around 7. Awkwardly stood at the hostess stand for a while while she took a to go order over the phone. Seemed to take forever. She did then tell us about the awesome happy hour if you sit in the bar area. Was cool of her to tell us because we otherwise would have sat in the dining area and paid twice as much. Food and bartenders were great! I'd only go back for the happy hour prices though, as full price would have been too much for the price of the food."

  • "Gluten Free menu available, friendly servers, but some issues. Server asked my partner if he wanted regular or dark ale. He said "regular", and she said "dark?", before bringing him the regular. Then she asked what kind of soy sauce he wanted, regular or low sodium. He said "regular", and she said "low sodium?" before bringing him the low sodium. The kitchen also put lemon/lemon juice on his sashimi and one of my rolls. He was upset because he didn't want ceviche, I was upset because it made the roll smell fishy. Not horrible, but I won't go back. Between the two of us we had 4 rolls, 4 alcoholic drinks, and 1 order of sashimi, and the bill came to $100 with tip. We often get better sushi for far less money at other restaurants."
