Kona Grill - OakbrookMy wife and I enjoyed ourMy wife and I enjoyed our time there very much and the food was excellent.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat sushiMy wife and I loved the sushi. It was a little noisy and the music really didn't fit the atmosphere5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFun, upscale American-Asian fusionOur family always has a good time at Kona Grill. You can pick from the extensive sushi menu or have ribs, salads, soup, or a hamburger. You can also have Pad Thai or grilled asian-flavored chicken or pork. It's a fun place with a young vibe.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat placeGreat place for getting together with friends and food is very good with many options5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome Food and ServiceI took my partner here for his birthday and we had Sushi (which was my first time) but it was very good and the service was wonderful. We did not feel rush and although there where a couple of large groups within the area that we sat, we were able to still talk at normal volume. We plan on returning and trying some of their regular meals. Oh and the Red Velvet Cake is to die for. This is a place to add to your list for lunch or dinner. Gloria5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthdayWe visited Kona Grill for the first time on my husbands birthday. None of us had been there and we're pleased with the choice. Service was fantastic and food was very good. I ordered the Kona filet and it was wonderful.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellenteGreat food, great service, extra friendly with kids5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMCombination of food and serviceCombination of food and service was excellent. I recommend this restaurant for big groups and fun foods.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed ourselves veryWe enjoyed ourselves very much. The food and service were wonderful. Thank you5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMy Favorite Restaurant!Kona Grill is my favorite restaurant for any occasion. I frequent Kona often and decided to take my Mom there for Mothers Day. We were warmly greeted and seated immediately, which was quite a pleasant surprise on Mothers Day. I noticed thru out our meal everyone that walked in was seated right away! My mother and son both had the surf and turf, which is only offered a few times a year. They absolutely loved their meal, and I had my favorite sweet chili salmon, which is always excellent . We all loved the shrimp appetizer as well. The complimentary red velvet cupcake was a pleasant surprise for Mothers Day. We all left satisfied and FULL.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceThe server was out standing. We had a party of 6 people and before my reservation they called to ask if we prefered a booth or a table. Nice touch! All 6 of us loved what we ordered. Can't wait to go back again.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGraduation DinnerWe ate at the restaurant following my son's Masters graduation. The atmosphere was fun, energetic and vibrant. Appetizers were excellent - flatbread, calamari, etc. For dinner the group enjoyed the steak, some chicken and pasta, and salmon. My entree was sushi, which unfortunately wasn't as good as I had expected. It was not bad, but rather didn't seem as flavorful as I've had.
I'd definitely recommend the restaurant, but would most likely choice something else other than items off the sushi menu.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSomething for everyoneKona is my go-to for lunch - particularly business lunches. They have everything from sushi to a great burger (which they will cook rare - hard to find these days).
This visit I ordered from the Perfect Pairings - pick 2 items from a list for $10. I ordered the Oriental Salad and Crunchy roll - my buddy ordered two different sushi items from the PP menu as well.
We ate on the patio - only note is that the music was a bit loud for conversation.
Good food, great service!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSat in the Patio which wasSat in the Patio which was a great choice due to the 70-degree temperature.
Sushi and catfish tacos were outstanding.
Service was stellar, yet not overbearing.
It's a real good lunch choice, business or pleasure.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Sushi......OK steakKona, Hawaiian, I get it. The wife LOVES the sushi, so this is a good fit for a carnivore like myself. I do wish though, there was one dish that didn't have the Hawaiian flair.
Be ready for Ginger, Pineapple, and Soy sauce to permeate everything. Great Rib-eye steak soaked in soy and pineapple....Wish I had the option to just grill it with salt and pepper...but I don't!
Overall a great place that seems to cater well to groups (another reason I feel a non Hawaiian option would be appropriate). Awesome service and great ambiance.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat SushiEnjoyed the spicy Sushi rolls. The Picasso and Voodoo rolls were outstanding.Service was very good and waiter very attentive. Food came relatively quickly and was well laid out. Overall a most enjoyable experience.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOur experience, food and waitOur experience, food and wait staff, was very nice. The only problem was that where we were seated was a path for the bus people, and althought I pulled my chair in at least three times and did not push it back out, the bus staff still seemed to run into my chair. Being only 5 feet tall and of small frame, I found it ironic that they could not go around me. The last collision actually resulted in my body being pushed into the table. Since we were done eating and just having an after-dinner cocktail, we saw that as our que to leave.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMhad a caesar salad as an entreehad a caesar salad as an entree ...way too much garlic
ordered with grilled shrimp...not grilled

They forgot to bring our California roll but we didn't wait long to get it after we reminded them we ordered it. Overall it was a good experience! No complaints!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was great and theOur server was great and the food came out very fast for being busy.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good and theFood was very good and the waiter and waitresses are all so very nice. They found us a table in the bar when we first arrived which was extremely busy. So we had 1/2 price appetizers and wine. Great! Had a good time.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMTake your time and enjoy!Kona Grill offered an extensive selection of sushi and sashimi dishes. We didn't make it to the other side of the menu after filling up on the sashimi flight, the grilled asparagus salad (outstanding) and two of the delicious speciality rolls.
Ambiance was good, and the dining area was quiet enough that we could have a business discussion without raising our voices.
Definitely a come-backer!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMService was great. FoodService was great. Food did not impress me very much. It was too pricey and too greasy.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service overall.Excellent service overall. Management and servers were exceptionally attentive and knowledgeable of menu items including the wine list.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMTry them for lunch.Great service and food. Reasonably priced lunch. Our group was big and they did a great job!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMJbI had the miso sake sea bass. It melts in your mouth. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Try the basil strawberry lemonade!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSashimi Starter was delicious.Sashimi Starter was delicious. The wave roll was very good as well, however the other roll we had (forgot the name) was quite bland and we were slightly disappointed. The artichoke/spinach dip was one of the best I've had in a very long time. Service was good, were never brought waters in the beginning and seemed to take a while to get them, however, understandable as it was a Friday night.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways yummy with great service!Always yummy with great service! When they have the butter cake as a seasonal dessert don't miss it!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOverpriced, yet tastyI'm torn whether KG is a rip-off. While my friend & I enjoyed the fried chicken (green beans were fresh & tasty, as was the chicken & mashed potatoes), $18.50 is steep for a chicken at lunch. Same for the $10.00 potstickers appetizer. While I don't mind spending extra for quality, $72 for 2 for lunch at KG is steep. They do have many sandwiches, and perhaps that's the way to go. That said, the spiced apple bread pudding is to die for, and at $7.00 worth every bite. Such questioning of price is partly due to the method in which I was billed twice due to KG's mistake that our server caught. Until the void is acknowledged by my bank, I have a $125 lunch for 2. This is also the 2nd time I've noted a b'day with OpenTable at KG that's ignored.2/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWife had miso sea bass thatWife had miso sea bass that was prepared nicely again. Her go to at kona. I tried the crab po boy. Taste had a pleasent kick, not over whelming. Once again ,a fine meal.12/17/2012 12:00:00 AMKona Grill has a variety ofKona Grill has a variety of menu items to please mostly anyone from sushi to burgers. Everything is more 'gourmet' than you might find with similar menu items and the atmosphere is appropriately more classy, similar to a J. Alexanders. I enjoy going there and the service has always been fantastic.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
