  • "It was my husbands birthday. His favorite Mexican dish is Chicken Mole. He said it was sweet and very delicious.I had the pan seared scallops. They were also delicious. For dessert I had coconut bread pudding with avocado ice cream. It was so good. I have never heard of avocado ice cream. They also had corn ice cream. Our waiter was Francisco. He was very nice and made several suggestions. The host also stopped by our table and chatted a while about the owner, Mr. Salum. He was very nice as well. The young lady that asked how our meal and dessert was, was very nice as well. She was telling us about the avocado and corn ice cream and where you get it from. Very friendly staff. Very good food. Very special dinner. Thanks!"

  • "We had a tequila flight, which was a great way to sample from their extensive list. Their salsa is fantastic, served with very thick chips. The red snapper ceviche was amazing!! There were also two ceviche chef specials. My husband got a steak, which was tasty, along with what looked like shredded wild mushrooms and a Mexican-style potatoes au gratin. I ended up with black bean soup and the harvest salad. I wanted something lighter. They were both tasty, but the salad was very small, esp for the price. The soup was excellent. Our service was fantastic. My only complaint was that it all came too fast! There wasn't much time to linger, it felt a tad rushed. The employees were all very pure and gracious, they didn't seem pushy."

  • "We were in town on business and before making our trip I searched the web for restaurants. Komali got great reviews for their margaritas (and they were!), but just as good and deserving of kudos was their service and food. We enjoyed our evening very much and would recommend them to anyone who wants something a little different than typical Mexican cuisine. The street corn and grilled romaine salad, in particular, were delicious."

  • "Well prepared and presented gourmet versions of traditional Mexican fare. A smaller restaurant still delivers big on taste and flavor."

  • "So often, in fact usually, restaurants use vegetables as a side to fill the plate, but they taste less than stellar. Komali treats vegetables as a co-star. I had green beans, peas, and purslane on the side of my fish. I think the vegetables outshone the fish, although the fish was indeed tasty and perfectly cooked."

  • "This is not TEX MEX. The menu is varied and vibrant. There is a nice atmosphere and the service is attentive."

  • "Although we had a great time, great food, and server was amazing, the bartenders almost made us leave. Their attitude and deamenor was terrible. almost mean. Need to get that fixed, nor get new ones. I don't care of a bartender is good at their job, if they have a bad attitude, it spoils a night."

  • "I enjoy going to this restaurant on a regular basis. The food and drinks are very good. Not your average Mexican."

  • "Komali was always known for its very good, authentic Mexican food, and i was enjoyed going there. Till last Friday. It was a disappointing experience. We ordered some cheese tamales that were awful: very thick and extremely poor in terms of flavor. The night special - a citrus shrimp appetizer - was so bad that we couldn't eat. It is the first time in my life that i sent some food back. The concept of the dish was bad - raw shrimp, slimy - and the flavor was like canned food. Very disappointing. The meat balls were good and the masa bites short ribs were amazing, as usual. Unfortunately not enough to get me back there any time soon."

  • "Excellent, knowledgeable service. The salmon dish was the best I have ever tasted! Enjoyed the fresh guacamole, salsa, and chips. The crepes were delicious, perfect dessert!"

  • "Was Not a big fan of the tortilla soup. The enchiladas were a little dry to my taste but was still good. Staff was friendly. It was my birthday so they brought me a chocoflan. Friends enjoyed the place and will probably visit again soon."

  • "We first went to Komali a few months ago and had a great dinner - great food, drinks, and great service. This week we came back for our daughter's birthday on a Friday night. Our service was very slow, one of our appetizers never arrived, and all three of the steaks we ordered were undercooked. I had ordered a drink after we finished our appetizers, never received it, ordered it again after we received our entrée, never received it, and then gave up. It was very disappointing, especially when you consider what we paid for the meal."

  • "We're "regulars" at Komali -- a Dallas favorite for sure."

  • "The service was great from the host, to the waiter to the manager, who checked on us at least twice. We had mussels, guacamole, scallops and the chile relleno. The mussels were some of the best I have had in Dallas. They were light and tasted fresh. The scallops were great and my husband liked their spin on the relleno. The food is light and allows you to enjoy Mexican without a bunch of fried items or cheese."

  • "The food, prices and service were excellent and they were very accommodating to our friend who is a vegan and the chef prepared her a special plate."

  • "After hearing many great things about this spot, I was excited to try! Upon arriving, we were about 10 minutes ahead for our reservation and we were made to feel like we made a mistake by even showing up. So the hostess asked if she could just seat us on the patio instead...so we took that. After being seated, it took someone at least 10 minutes to come to our table...no drinks, no chips, no nothing. Once drinks arrived I was expecting a delicious Margarita...it was so so but not the best in Dallas as it states. I ordered the flank steak as my dinner, and while the presentation was interesting, it was slightly unappetizing for some reason, just looked odd for a steak. Also ordered Guacamole, no flavor. Just not as happy as I hoped to be!"

  • "Overall experience was good, although waiter took a bit to warm up to us. The queso fundido appetizer had some issues. It was rubbery, not smooth and the chorizo was VERY greasy; made a pool of grease on our plates. I would skip this app in the future and stick with the short rib sopes. Main course better. The braised pork cheek dish was good, but should switch to pickled onions instead of raw onion. The other main course was the striped bass. Good and well garnished, although the fish portion was a bit on the small side for the price. Coconut bread pudding was delicious as was the Mexican chocolate ice cream."

  • "From beginning to end -- very good experience. Welcome, nice, warm, genuine. Our server -- "Dewaine", the best. Impressive that he knows about cocktails, asks the appropriate questions and you get exactly what you want. Same with dinner. Someone who bothers to know what the offering is and bothers to guide you into the best possible combination. The food - perfect preparation, perfect portions. Prices --- very moderate for the quality of the experience."

  • "I can't talk highly enough about Komali ! I had asked for a corner booth on open table reservations. We were totally accommodated. Reservations for 8:30. We were seated right on time. Service food ambiance all A+++ My fiancé (Ecuadorian roots) claims Komali to have the best ceviche in Dallas! We will be back again and again and again"

  • "Brought out-of-town friends for brunch after a long party night. The excellent, spicy Bloody Marys revived us nicely. While the table was tight, the atmosphere, food and service made for a great time. We all enjoyed our meals, being sure to try to sample everything on the menu. We will definitely return, even if it is just for chips and salsa (and Bloody Marys, of course)"

  • "I read positive reviews, and perhaps this Sunday was simply an "off" day for this establishment. We were greeted warmly and felt very welcome. The environment was pleasant. Our server, unfortunately, was neither friendly nor helpful when asked for guidance / recommendations. The appetizer (fruits and vegetables with sides of salt, spices, and chamoy. The mango, pineapple, and jicama were tasty. Salt is a nice touch. The spices and chamoy didn't enhance the raw produce whatsoever. The tamales were surprisingly short on flavor and highly forgettable. The beef hash and potato dish (I didn't taste) looked very greasy and wasn't very well received by my dining partner. Finally, the tortillas seemed store-bought."

  • "The food and drinks were great! Habanero infused tequila concoction unique and tasty. Chicken mole and cobia special were both top quality. Service was perfect-waiter's recommendations and attention to detail were flawless. All in all, an excellent meal."

  • "We stopped by for brunch early about 10:45 or 11 on a Sunday? The restaurant wasn't too busy. Host and the waiter were very friendly. A nicely designed restaurant. It had a nice atmosphere with great latin pop music playing which I was enjoying. The food was great and at a reasonable price. The best part was the $2 mimosas."

  • "Had a group-brunch here, and everything was fantastic. If there was one shortcoming it would have been the dessert, and then only because each option seemed to have very similar flavors. Other than that, the tamarind mimosas were incredible, and the poached eggs and filet was bar none amazing."

  • "Food was very good overall and the service was good. Waiter (Pedro) knowledgeable. Both striped bass and redfish dishes were excellent. Short rib sope app was substantial and tasty. Bit of a wait for dessert, but the coconut bread pudding was well worth the wait. Only two minor criticisms. 1. Valet was not dressed appropriately and was going to leave my window down which is a no no. 2. If you sit at a booth-table combo, the table legs are not set up correctly. They are in an X shape for the pieces along the floor. This results in your feet landing on top of the support pieces, which is uncomfortable and unnecessary. Rotate support pieces so they allow both patrons to have feet on floor rather than competing for floor space."

  • "We really enjoyed our dinner Saturday night. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. Everything from the chips and salsa to the mole tamales, potato and chorizo croquettes, the Mexican "lasagna" and the seafood special were all fabulous! We will be back! And the drinks.....yummmmm"

  • "The place that serves AUTHENTIC Mexican food. This restaurant is for those people that have traveled to Mexico and tasted its gastronomy. This is not a tex-mex joint."

  • "It’s been a while since I last dined at Komali and I noticed many changes for the better. The menu has completely been revamped and there are some really interesting choices. Our party of four really enjoyed the Mexican street corn, seared redfish with Texas grapefruit, beef tenderloin and chicken mole. Also the fresh fried corn tortillas chips and authentic homemade salsa served with our cocktails were outstanding, practically worth the price of an entrée. The tequila and cocktail list are broad and the wine list, although not broad at all, includes a Mexican cabernet sauvignon from Baja that I really enjoyed. And the prices are very reasonable. Lastly, our sever Pedro was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We will be back soon!"
