Diner Reviews
  • "I am working my way through the menu, but keep repeating things because I love them so much. I have never had anything I didn't love. In a neighbourhood full of very good restaurants, Koko is one of the best. It's also one of the more modestly priced. Beautiful cooking, always fresh. I bring all my friends and family here, and sometimes just enjoy a quiet lunch alone."

  • "I am a serious world traveler, usually six months a year always looking for good food, value, service, ambience. Kook share bar performs ihighly in every category. The menu is a perfect fusion of Asian/American. I will be back to KOKO whenever I am traveling to Toronto."

  • "We went in looking for Korean BBQ, but it's a mix of Sushi / Japanese food with a sprinkle of Korean. Food was great, but look the menu over first."

  • "The food was great as always, but it took so long to come we missed our movie after."

  • "We were lucky to get a table at the last minute and were surprised at how cozy the seating area was - tables are close together buy that made the eating experience all the more fun. The couple beside us were having the bimbini (sp) and we couldn't resist - wow what wonderful tastes. Service was attentive but well paced giving us time to enjoy. All in all a great finding experience."

  • "Small but cozy and romantic. Glad we left the kids at home....the restaurant would be too tiny to accommodate a stroller or highchair. Recommend the sharing platter. Service was top nthotch. Tables are close together maybe not the best place to break up with your boyfriend. :-) our Valentine's date was perfect at this lovely and unique restaurant."

  • "The staff was great. Very attentive to our little family of 3 and made our son feel welcome. Lovely options on the menu. We had the sushi and make yourself rolls dinner for two. Ample amount and very fresh. Beautifully presented too! Well done. Need a reservation as it's quite small."

  • "Really enjoyed Koko, our server was amazing, super knowlegable about the dishes. Everything came quick and was very well presented. The seafood was about the freshest we have ever had anywhere and really delicious. Also, even though it is in Yorkville prices were very reasonable. We will certainly be going back soon!"

  • "This is now my favourite spot in Yorkville. The pear salad is terrific, as are all of the dishes I've tried. Service is friendly and prompt. The restaurant is intimate and unpretentious."

  • "Good service. We advised we did jot like certain sashimi/sushi, they substituted for what we liked which wssba great experience. Not many other restaurant s would do that."

  • "I am a regular customer of many restaurants in Yorkville but Koko is the best by far. Excellent service as I don't see it often, great food and reasonable prices - what more can I ask for? I am going to become a regular there."

  • "This place is a neighbourhood gem. It's the kind of place that our family would go to on a Friday night. Yummy"

  • "In a neighborhood rife with extremely expensive restaurants, this little place provides excellent cuisine at a reasonable price. We would go back again if it weren't a 650 mile drive from our home in Maine."

  • "I have been to KoKo's Share Bar for lunch on many occasions and for dinner a few times. The food is always excellent and the wait staff is very attentive. I look forward to having many other meals at KoKo's but for the first timer, I would suggest the bimimbap which is very good and good value for lunch in the Yorkville area. The sushi is always a good choice, fresh and beautifully prepared; don't miss out on trying the avocado salad, simple enough but with a dressing that is addictive."

  • "I come here once in a while because I crave a really good bibimbap. But every time I come, I always feel ripped off. $18 for the cheapest beef bibimbap, and they charge $0.75 extra for the egg on top, and another extra $1.50 for brown rice instead of white rice. Not only that, but this time they made 2 errors in our order (out of 2 items), they forgot the egg on top of the bibimbap, and they sent white rice instead of brown (and tried to charge us for the brown) with the overpriced seafood hotpot. Every time I come here, I am inspired to go to BibimQ the next few times. Even though their bibimbap is not quite as good, it is less than half the price and I always get service with a smile."

  • "Best kimchi pancakes, best vegetable dumplings, incredibly fresh sashimi and the best bibimpap. What a find in this little Yorkville Korean restaurant."

  • "Food was really good. Service started off well but at the end of our experience it took a very long time to get our bill. This kind of ruined the evening."

  • "It was cold. Most patrons were wearing their coats. Octopus and chips was good. Both my ribs and my husbands cod had clearly been on the grill too long and both tasted vaguely burned (we know what seared is supposed to be - this was burned. We ordered the asian pear salad to get the burned taste out of our mouth and it worked - quite nice with lovely flavours. Could have just been a junior person working the grill, service was nice. But not a hit out of the park for sure. Prices reasonable."

  • "We ordered spinach salad, seaweed salad, and miso soup for appetizer. Then we ordered bulgogi bibimbop and temaki. They were so delicious and fresh. I especially loved bulgogi bibimbop. It's very unique Korean dish that sizzle!! I love their great service."

  • "Really fresh food. Great service until all food served then got busy with other tables. Great unique cocktails and sake list. It is a smaller space so be sure to make a reservation."

  • "Simple - Warm - Cosy, a Yorkville neighbourhood gem. The menu choices make it easy to please anyone, and the food is absolutely delicious. Prices for a Yorkville establishment is a steal."

  • "We had tempura, sushi and the bulgogi bibimbap. Tempura was excellent - light and crispy and perfectly cooked. The sushi (we ordered the sushi assortment) was also very good. The highlight of the meal was definitely the bulgogi. Presentation was outstanding - a beautiful heated clay bowl with the vegetables piled separately side-by-side and the beef mounded on top. You could hear the rice crackling below it all. We purposely let the rice continue to crisp up for another 5 minutes so that when we stirred it up, there was a lovely combination of both crispy and fluffy rice. Flavouring was also outstanding - would highly recommend this menu item!"

  • "This was my first visit to Koko! Share Bar but definitely won't be my last! The menu consisted of a wonderful selection of Japanese food interspersed with the occasional Korean dish. The ambiance was good with background music playing at just the right level. Our server was efficient and attentive and was happy to tell us about some of the dishes we hadn't heard of before. I am already looking forward to my next visit!"

  • "I was really excited for my guest and I to do the a signature share dish - half Bossam and half Temaki - as we have been able to do in the past. I really loved that they accommodated this half/half customization for us and it was my main reason for going to the this restaurant. A few minutes after we ordered it the waitress came back to inform that they're not doing it anymore because it's not cost effective for them. Not what you like to hear. I asked if they could do it with us paying a little more. No uptake on that. Got short ribs instead. Some had a good amount of meat on them but several of the pieces (at the bottom) were basically bone and fat. Great i I probably won't go back if they don't do the half bossam/temaki split anym"

  • "We have been to KOKO! Share Bar several times and love the intimate, quiet restaurant for a couple favoured dishes: Spicy seafood boullaibaise, ox tail sukiyaki hot pot (both personal sized) and one of the best rolls we've had, the magura modern roll (lean yellowfin with kimchee). Great personal service."

  • "The service was excellent. Our server was friendly and helpful. Atmosphere was great as well, we had a table by the window all to ourselves. We were pleased with the Sencha we ordered. However, the food was nothing special....."
