Diner Reviews
  • "While others have noted that this is not the best sushi and Japanese in L.A., it is a great night out with warm service, very good food, and a nice buzz in the restaurant throughout the meal. We sat at the sushi bar and the maitre d', the server and the sushi chef were all very friendly throughout the meal. The pacing of the dishes was perfect, without either waiting too long or being rushed at any point. An all-around enjoyable evening."

  • "I just didn't like the fact that they made us wait 50 min at the bar to spend $85 on just drinks. The sushi was fresh and tasty but the wait really killed it - 50 min, are you kidding me?"

  • "The food is OK, nothing special about it. There are few dishes that are very good, the rest are just OK. The ambiance is good. I have been there few times, service it hit or miss. The last experience wasn't that great. Our server was not friendly at all."

  • "If your looking for a great sushi house with out of this world service this is the place to be."

  • "Everything about our recent dinner at Koi was embarrassingly bad. And might I add overpriced. For a $300 dinner I would expect at least to be full- we ate somewhere else after. The server was constantly confused when we asked where certain dishes were that never arrived, he kept running back and forth to the kitchen to figure it out. The food was flavorless and over priced. The menu is exactly the same as far as specialty dishes as Katsuya or Sushi Roku and the sushi is WAY better at Izakaya and a 1/3 of the price. Shame, Koi used to be so good. But we will not be returning."

  • "love this restaurant so when my friend Deborah whose birthday we were to celebrate requested this restaurant I thought great since I've been and enjoy the food immensely. From the Sunfire Roll, her fav to the Dragon to the Rainbow roll. and don't forget the miso black cod, it was a tasty experience"

  • "The food was good. Pricey of course but good. The baked sushi everything is great. The regular Sushi and Sashimi was great. Fresh. Miso soup ok. Nothing special. Went on a Saturday night and it was packed."

  • "I've been going to Koi for years and the food is always good and the drink are solid. On Valentines, day, the service was particularly excellent, and there was staff there at ever turn to take care of us or to clear our table which is a big issue with me. I loved it that the moment we were done with a dish, they were there to grab it and take it away. The restaurant isn't the hot spot it used to be, but they keep churning out consistently good food, so there's no reason for you not to go if you want some solid sushi and a place to hang out with your friends for a nice night."

  • "Lovely dining place. Went with 5 people and all enjoyed the food. Waiter was great but unfortunately don't remember his name. Will be back."

  • "This was my first time at Koi, and I had high expectations which were not disappointed. The spicy yellowtail and truffle avocado crispy rice appetizers were stunning - perfect texture combinations, with flavors that were both bold and nuanced - and the little lobster tacos were also amazing, with superb presentation and execution. The seared albacore with crispy onions was decent (each individual ingredient was tasty, but the overall effect was that the albacore seemed smothered and overwhelmed by the sauce and the onions.) My sister and I both had the Chilean sea bass, which was excellent as well - generous, buttery, flaky and delicious. The caramelized pear crepe dessert was also scrumptious - overall, a really excellent meal!"

  • "Great Restaurant!! Everytime i'm in Los Angeles i try and have dinner or lunch there. I like the fact that the management team doesn't have a high turnover. It's always pleasant seeing a familiar face when preparing to dine. My FAV dishes 1. baked Crab Roll 2. Miso Eggplant Crispy Rice."

  • "Foodwas good but I have had better sushi, it did not have much flavor, kind of bland. We had the Rok-n-roll, spicy tuna roll and shrimp tempura roll. Menu was very diverse so offered lots of choices for non-sushi eaters. I would reccomend the crispy rice appetizers, very tasty!"

  • "From the moment we walked into the restaurant until we walked out, we were highly impressed with the impeccable service, ambiance, and quality of food. Our server Joseph was so friendly and so accomodating that he just made us all feel at home. His recommendations were on spot amazing and delicious starting from cocktails, to sushi, to sake. And to end our night, he gave us one candle with a Happy Anniversary greeting on our plate because my husband and I were celebrating our 16th year wedding anniversary with our two couple bestfriends. What an amazing and magical evening! Thank you for the great memories, Koi! We will definitely come back. Even if it was expensive, worth every penny."

  • "Enjoyed a wonderful dinner for our family on New Year's Eve. The food was outstanding in a beautiful atmosphere where we could talk and be heard and great service by Megan. I would definitely recommend Koi to anyone who wants fresh and delicious sushi, sashimi, and other delicacies."

  • "We often eat Japanese in Sydney. Koi surpassed any Japanese eating experience we have ever had. The reviews were tempting when I first considered where to go when planning our dining outings. However, nothing could have explained the actual experience. The moment we sat down in the dimly lit dining area we knew there were delicacies coming our way. Our waiter, Mark, guides us without instructing us, he sensed our paler and advised perfectly. Every course, and there were many, was a taste sensation. The Kobe Beef Carpaccio was a repeat order ! We will go back again and we will be spreading the word. We spoke a little Japanese to the beaming happy Chefs on the way out, they responded with even more smiles. Do yourself a favor, make a booking"

  • "Food at Koi was AMAZING. My boyfriend took me there for a birthday evening dinner, and I left only wanting more. Everything from my salad appetizer (Organic Field Greens with Ponzu dressing), lamb chop entree, and ice cream sundae was simply delicious. Great and friendly service, with nice ambiance too. One of the better meals I've had, will definitely go back again, and highly recommend this place!!"

  • "Though our waitress did not greet us or acknowledge us until half way through our meal when we waved someone down, we had an amazing time with the sushi chefs who were extremely knowledgeable and inviting. Thank you also to bartender Ken who made it a point to make sure we were taken care of. Thank you!"

  • "Another good meal at Koi. I hadn't been there in about 2 years and decided to go back. We sat at the sushi bar and the chef was friendly and made some great dishes. Hamachi, tuna, toro, salman, ume roll, scallop, uni, all were prepared beautifully and all were very fresh. Had a great sake called Musami (or something like that) that went perfectly with the fish. My only criticism is that as the restaurant got busier it took longer and longer to get drink refills. That's"
