Diner Reviews
  • "Ate here with a friend - both disappointed in shrimp sushi roll. the tempura softshell crab roll was very bad. The uni handroll which they made especially for me was very good. The agadashi tofu daily special was good, but nowhere near as good as some places I enjoy. Altogether disappointing. Had breakfast there the next morning and it was a little better, but not excellent."

  • "Not only is the sushi great, but the other Japanese dishes are excellent. Had the double tuna roll and the lamb rack. Both were very good as was the dish my wife ordered. Service was excellent and the manager makes his rounds. Location at Trump Soho adds to the ambiance."

  • "We wanted to stay in our neighborhood on a Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised by Koi. Excellent food, good service and not too loud unlike Nobu last weekend which has seriously gone trashy. Will go again!"

  • "I took my girlfriend for her birthday. The best service and most tasty sushi in NYC. I highly recommend this place. M. I"

  • "Food was super fresh and delicious. Service was cold and I was expecting more at this pricepoint. Prices were astronomical - especially for the apps and cocktails. The decor is very modern and classy in the lovely Trump SoHo. Koi is best for large groups to split apps and enjoy cocktails. However (no surprise), those are the items priced disproportionately. Portion sizes are very generous. Overall, I like the Bryant Park location better for service (much more personable) and the SoHo location for the atmosphere."

  • "Excellent sushi, expensive but not too over priced given the quality. The creamy tempura rock shrimp are an absolute must. The booths are perfect for four or more people and the service is quick and efficient"

  • "I always love koi. The food is fabulous and so so fresh! Our server was amazing. She was very accomodating and understood great customer service. Wanted to go back the next night!"

  • "An inventive menu coupled with beautifully served and delicious food-- never fails. And its the Trump Soho so you're getting that chic cool ambience with exceptional service. Very quiet for lunch, if that's what you want. Think we were one of 3 diners in total. Dinner and evening cocktail traffic is higher."

  • "I know this is NY but 16 USD for 2 pieces of sushi and 20 USD for a double tuna roll is too much. But the service was very good and kind."

  • "Impeccable attentive service, delicious food in good portion sizes, and a terrific molten chocolate cake surprise for my birthday! Koi was fantastic! We will return!"

  • "The food is always great at Koi. The service increased the experience. The waiter was incredibly friendly and provided great customer service with his easy going yet professional manner. He also topped off our glass of wine a little extra as the bottle was being closed to finish so he let us enjoy the rest which I thought was nice."
    Dined on 6/19/2014
  • "Food was amazing as usual. Service was terrible. Asked for water several times. 3 of our glasses had chips in them which could have really hurt someone. Management was unresponsive to our call outs."

  • "The Kobe filet mignon was to die for. We ordered it for the two 11-year old girls dining with us and they loved it, but so did all of the adults. The restaurant was accommodating for children, but I wouldn't have brought young ones here for dinner. The sushi was very good but not outstanding. We loved our waiter - he was attentive and helpful. Overall, a very good place for Japanese food."

  • "This restaurant is really nice, cool scene and atmosphere. The food is fresh and very tasty, it reminded me of Katsuya on LA or MIAMI, is the exact same thing in terms of food. Crispy Rice over spicy tuna a must, as well as the black cod miso. Sushi is really good too. appetizers amazing. Service is perfect. Enjoy!"

  • "My husband & I renewed our vows at the Trump hotel then had dinner here at Koi. It was absolutely romantic!!! It was my husbands birthday as well and they followed all my requests that i made on the initial reservation. I didn't have to hit or anything everything was a surprise and romantic!! The manager even came to our table to offer his congratulations with a bottle of complimentary champagne (we couldn't finish it so they sent it up to out room in the trump hotel). Thank you for making an absolutely memorable evening!!!! This was our second time visiting Koi & i cant seem to get enough!!"

  • "Great food, good ambiance but music too loud and place too noisy. Waiters good but got drink order wrong and did not bring drinks over when they were ready."

  • "We came here for Valentine's Day. The food was so delicious though we did order something that never came out but we didn't mind because the portions we're so spot on we were already full. Unfortunately we were seated right next to a doorway which bothered me but not my boyfriend so we didn't fuss. Definitely make a reservation or it'll be a hassle, luckily we had one so we were seated right away despite the fact we were 30 minutes early. The service was great and the food and wine were spectacular! They even had a complementary photo booth for Valentine's Day. We'll definitely be back."

  • "Went here on Valentine's Day around 6PM, very friendly hostess led us to our table. Very chic and energetic, dimly lit and modern atmosphere. Food came out delicious! I had the braised beef which was melt in your mouth delicious. The mashed potatoes were smooth and delicious with a hint of truffle in them. Tuna Tar Tar was top notch! To end the night, on our way out, we passed this small photo booth picture item they had for valentine's day and received a free photo souvenir for the night!"

  • "We attended for dinner but did not last past the appetizers, which were superb, but the service was so-so, and the wine list was shallow and blah. For a restaurant in the Trump I was very disappointed."
    Dined on 2/11/2014
  • "once we were done and the bill was paid, we stayed for a while and the waiter came by and re-filled water and we did not feel pressured to leave. FOOD WAS AWESOME!"
    Dined on 2/4/2014
  • "Nothing too amazing - sushi was very average and the spicy sushi rolls were unforunately badly made and almost soggy. Nothing too bad about the restaurant, but have been to better sushi restaurants which perhaps had less swagger. The ambiance was a bit off and lacking."
    Dined on 1/25/2014
  • "Felt like having good sushi, since we had been there just a few days prior. What a dissappointment, food was just ok. The service was lacking and just did not live up to our first visit. Waiter was not focused but the wait assistants were excellent! With so many other restaurants to choose from, I doubt we will return, sorry."

  • "Everything was great, from the hostess to the bussers! All were extremely attentive and very knowledgable about the menu and the restaurant itself. Definitely would go back with a group of friends. Crispy rice is a must!"

  • "The Miso Bronzed Black Cod was just outstanding. The fish was cooked perfectly and infused with flavor. I don't like truffles or truffle oil, so that limited my menu selections."

  • "Love Koi Midtown, and downtown is just that much better location for a Saturday night. It is not my first time there, and somehow I am always cold. Otherewise the food and drinks as well as the service is great."

  • "We loved this restaurant! Seriously one of the best we have been to in a while. Between the decor, and the food we were absolutely blown away. Even though this is clearly an upmarket spot, the waitress was fantastic in regard to dealing with kids. The waitress gave my brother handfuls of chopsticks and he proceeded to make a chopstick house, the staff were so friendly and open. This is truly a fantastic dining experience."

  • "I had read some mixed reviews of this restaurant but was pleasantly surprised. The room was busy and fairly noisy, but in a good way. The food was excellent (particularly liked the sea bass)."

  • "I ve been at Koi in LA and loved it. But this one has nothing to do. There were few people, the food was regular. The best was the dessert. The sundae to share!!!!"

  • "Food was ok. Salty salad. Crispy rice was sent back. Left With upset stomach. To top it off the bill was wrong."
