A word from Koi - Bryant Park
Rich earth tones of orange, red and brown impart warmth to the cool and tranquil space. Thin tapestries of translucent rose fabric are embellished with flame motifs and suspended from the ceiling, creating a separate seating area perfect for a light bite near the large front windows.
Famous for its unique and mouth-watering interpretation of Japanese cuisine. Upscale Japanese fare is given a jolt of new life through an innovative use of ingredients, resulting in refreshing and exciting flavor combinations. Crispy Rice with Spice Tuna, an addictive version of the classic spicy tuna roll, featuring warm grilled rice topped with a thick layer of cool, savory tuna. Baked Crab Roll, for which succulent fresh crabmeat is wrapped in a thin rice crepe paper dotted with sesame seeds and baked to perfection. Hamachi Fusion with Soy-Citrus and Truffle Essence all artfully plated by Koi’s skilled culinary team.

  • "We went to Koi for an early dinner post theater. It was uncrowded, possibly because of the early hour. The menu is varied -- interesting sushi dishes, but also plenty of cooked fare for the non-raw-fish eaters. Every dish was a winner. The service was excellent. It is not cheap by any stretch, but you are encouraged to order dishes as you go and share, which makes for a fun evening. We give Koi high marks."

Perhaps it was an off night on Thursday, April 17, but the hostesses looked disinterested the guests, and the manager who walked us to our table acted as if it was our privilege to be at the restaurant. The food wasn't bad, but please lose the attitude as there are way too many other dining options in the neighborhood."

  • "If you are in the Bryant park area, and looking for a nice restaurant to go to. Koi is in the Bryant park hotel and has entrance to the cellar, a lounge downstairs. The food is great, the sticky rice with tuna tartare is delicious. Also the lobster tacos were really great. The servers are pretty good, my only complaint was I kept needing to ask for water. Granted I was drinking my water pretty fast, I had ordered something a bit spicy. Overall worth an occasional meal."

  • "I've eaten in Koi many times. The food is quite good. But enough already. Their inability to deliver the meal in a timely coordinated manner is no longer tolerable. The waitstaff is always pleasant and beseeching for forgiveness. But for the incredibly steep prices, I expect my appetizer to be served before my guest's entree arrives. 90 minutes to wait for my entree?! Inexcusable. There are plenty of other sushi emporiums in NYC that are just as fabulous without the wait-time or the fatuousness. I won't bother with Koi anymore."

  • "I've been to Koi - Bryant Park many times and every time I go I'm less impressed. The creamy rock Shrimp tempura is good as is the crunchy spicy tuna. However, they definitely don't use rock shrimp. Those are just baby shrimp. Everything else was just okay. The waiter recommended the baked lobster roll. He told me "you can't really taste the lobster" which I thought was weird. It was gross and it gave me a stomach ache. The spicy shrimp tempura hand roll was a soggy mess of greasiness."

  • "I had been to Koi a couple of times before and really liked its take on Asian fusion and have been recommending it. But this last time the food was terrible. The potstickers were heavy and oily. The lobster tacos were full of some kind of mayonnaise. Even the sea bass, usually one of their best dishes, was overly salty. They need changes in the kitchen."

The food is amazing, I would highly recommend the crispy rice with spicy tuna, yellowtail tartare, kobe beef carpaccio, and plenty of other dishes. You really cannot go wrong with anything here. The only issue I have is when small parties are seated in the small tables that are almost on top of each other and you have to squeeze into the table and then feel as if you are dining with another group. But of course this is a hot NYC restaurant and I understand they are just trying to make the best of their space."
