The ambiance of this place probably makes the food even better. The best thing on the menu, that I have yet to see on any other sushi menu, is the Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna 'Rolls' appetizer. I always have to get at least 2 orders to share with tables of 3 or more - it's amazing. The drinks here are delicious, as is the rest of the menu - even the all veggie options. This place is great for birthdays (order the molten chocolate cake for the ladies desert - it has edible leopard spots!), romantic dates, or fancy night out. I took her here on a night out in NYC from Philly. We both loved it!!! Great sushi, sashimi and maki. Seafood soup and edamame were great! We had to change our reservation time on open table and they managed it great. Great service. Food timing was impeccable and we finished with time to make it our broadway show. Only downside was that it was expensive. My husband loves crispy rice and Koi is one of the few restaurants that we have found in NYC that offer it. The food was amazing, we had Hamachi, tuna tartar, lobster tacos, sushi roll, scallops, Kobe pot stickers. Koi can be expensive but it was our anniversary so we really enjoyed the great food and service. Outstanding for before or after the theater. A short walk to 40th Street, and easy to find a taxi afterward. Can be a tad noisy, but - we still like to eat after the show - quiets down after 10:30 or so.
