Diner Reviews
  • "We always loved KOBE and went there often before. However, most of time, the ladies at reception is not efficient and not friendly. They ALWAYS made us wait to to go to table more than 30min. We have a little kid who is always hungry. They asked us what time and we showed up on time but they sometmes send other later commers first etc. They used to have a nice Japanese lady who understood kids' situation and tried to accomodate. But we did not see her recently. That is the reason why we have decided not to go so often any more. This time was special because my daughter's birthday but again they made us wait 45min!!! It was pity because the food was always great but jst receotionist was bad and not efficient."

  • "I had a birthday dinner party for 7 people. We was 10 mins late but we still got a table fast and didn't wait at all. The whole place is awesome from outside in. The kids love the koi pond and garden outside. But I think we was the unlucky ones that got the most boring chef! I usually don't care for the tricks and stuff but since I was with the kids I expected at least the chef to try. Especially when the kids could see other tables getting a great show! The food was good quality I give them that but when it cost $12.50 to split a dinner in half that disappointed me. Benihanas don't even do that! Overall we still had fun and the food was good but I expected way more from KOBE especially on how it was more expensive than Benihanas"

  • "Kobe's has been in the desert ever since I was a young child and I have always had a great meal there along with a fun presentation. I have even taken my kids there plenty of times! It's always fun to feed the Koi fish out front while waiting for a table."

  • "Finally, at long last, I can say I am impressed with my dining experience at a restaurant. The staff at Kobe's had an energy that made me smile for the first time in a long time. I felt welcomed, entertained, appreciated and surrounded by happy people! Oh, and the meal was delicious too! Thank you Kobe's for making our family reunion special."

  • "Kobe's is a fun, easy paced, friendly place to have dinner. They make you feel comfortable, like you are dining with a big group even when its just the two of you. The Chef's are amazing and funny (corny funny but great). The waitresses are very attentive and gracious. We live out of the area but still go to Kobe's about 4 time a year. (Its a 140 mile round trip and worth it)"

  • "Food was fresh and tasty, but our table chef was pretty weak on the "entertainment" portion of the cooking. whatever training they go thru, he needed a refresher course."

  • "A great dining experience. Kobe is an excellent setting for large family gatherings and the food is very flavorful. We enjoy the ambiance provided by dinning with large groups. "

  • "My first time and it was fun. My date hadn't ever been either. We enjoyed ourselves and a family of eight was at our same table celebrating a birthday. It was fun, but I wouldn't come here for romance, it's just not that kind of place. Zero privacy. Cocktails were pretty good, not perfect but certainly no complaints. The patio out front is cool too, lots of hungry Coi you can feed. Go, it's worth a visit and you won't regret it. "

  • "It was almost everything i remember, as we've been visiting this restaurant since the 80s. There should be a dress code, but there isn't. The food is consistently great. Service is always gracious and top notch! Even a nice slice of cheesecake for the birthday girl. Dinner for four with drinks and sushi appetizers was under $200 during the earlybird time. This is no place for little babies or ball caps or tee shirts, or flipflops, all of which i was surprised to see. I didn't appreciate the cheap silverware and the disposable chopsticks. The grounds and restaurant are spectacular for pictures."

  • "Great experience and food...only complaint the smoke from the grill was bothering a few of my guests...going right into their face without enough d iversion from the over head fans."

  • "We have been searching for a Japanese restaurant that has teppen table preparations. Kobe has a very nice menu that would appeal to all. We will be back again and again. Kudos!"

  • "Hands down the best teppanyaki/Japanese food in the Valley. Your experience may very slightly based on the chef you get, but all the chefs I've ever had were skilled, entertaining, and overall a lot of fun. Try to arrive 15 minutes before your reservation to get first dibs on seating at your table (but there really isn't a bad seat in the house!). DEFINITELY take your birthday companion here because the little "performance" they throw for birthday guests is second to none."

  • "The food was good, the service was a bit on the slow side, but not bad. Wish we didn't have to share a table with a family of 5 celebrating a birthday. But I guess that's what we get for being a party of 2 just trying to have a nice dinner before a 2 hour drive home. Oh well."

  • "We chose this based on reviews and were looking for a fun last night place to go with our kids age 8 & 12. Our only minor "complaint" is that our reservation was at 7:30 but we didn't get started until 8 pm. The chef was great and the servers were attentive. The food was also very good with generous portions - so much that we each left half on our plates. The kids loved the koi pond also. We would recommend this to anyone and the prices were reasonable too - much cheaper than the same place at the JW Marriott."

  • "Me and my wife were seated and they brought us soup and waiter dumped the whole bowl of HOTT soup in my lap and splattered onto my wife. I was looking forward to this becouse I have never been to anything like this before.the HOTT soup Put red marks on my legs and wife's arm. It was our 2year anniversary and they brought us cheese cake and when they lit the candle they caught the umbrella on fire. The only good thing about this nite was the food. Will I come back to this place? NO !! Ruined my nite with clothes sticky and wet. If I were asked by anyone if they should go to this restutaunt, I would probably tell them no. Manager offered us free drinks but I don't drink."

  • "The overall experience was good. We had a great time talking and laughing with the chef. The service was great. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for a quit date night alone with your honey, but if you are looking to laugh, have a good time, meet new people and have show with dinner this is the place to go."

  • "The staff was very friendly but the food was average compared to many other Japanese steakhouse's we have been to. Maybe we are just spoiled because there are so many great ones near our house! The atmosphere was fun, the waitstaff was very enjoyable, a great place for birthday or an evening out with friends."

  • "Nice restaurant. Made reservation. They put us with a family with very young children that cried. Asked for a different table. We would have to wait. That just seemed wrong to us. There should be a couple section and a family section we would think. Ate and left. Didn't enjoy the show due to distractions."

  • "This is always such a fun place to go. You are entertained by your Teppan Chef as he prepares your meal before you. The atmosphere is always festive and lively. This is a perfect place to take younger children as they will "ooooo" and "ahhhhh" as they watch the chef perform. The food is always good, albeit perhaps a little too much food but I'm not complaining. While you might have a little "sticker-shock" when you get your bill, when you stop and think about the entertaining meal and evening you've just had, you'll quickly be comfortable with the price. This should be on your restaurant list at least once when you come to visit the desert"

  • "This is the 5th time we've come to dine at Kobe's. We brought our close friends with us who hadn't been to Kobe's yet and they loved it. The food was delicious as always. Our Chef, Phat was amazing!!! We will defenitly be back again. Kobe's has won us as return customers and now has gained two more."

  • "After having been to any Japanese steakhouses I know what I like and what I don't. Kobe had all the good with none of the bad. A funny (extremely!!) chef who had a joke at every turn but was not intrusive. He also happened to make excellent food! Loved every aspect except it was a little on the pricy side even for a steakhouse. We would still go back."

  • "Loved the coy pond/japanese garden area out front, and they have a seperate lounge area for those that have to wait. I set a reservation and was about 10 minutes early. Checked in and was offered the lounge area while they got ready for us. Had just enough time to order 1 drink and was promptly seated and served. Enjoyed all the food and the show, but wish my chef was a bit more energetic himself. Other than that the dinner was amazing and I will be visiting again soon."

  • "Our dining experience on a Saturday evening was not a positive one. The noise levels were close to abusive and the "birthday band" was annoying: it felt like we were in a rodeo crowd. Also tossing food into the mouths of guests seems weird at best. We have been to Japanese restaurants before and enjoyed the experience-enviroment, but Kobe isnt the atmosphere we were hoping for."

  • "This was our second time dining at Kobe. The first time, the food and service was good, but the restaurant was smoky due to poor ventilation. This time, was a DISASTER! Not only was the ventilation still a problem, it was much worse. At one point, we could hardly breathe due to smoke from the cooking blowing directly in our faces. The issue became so bad that one of us went to speak to the manager. The other in the party, noticing that the manager was not being cooperative, went up to add additional comments. Still getting resistance, we pushed further. To their credit, they did not charge us for our meal in the end and offered to pay our dry cleaning bill. In addition, the chef was not very entertaining."
